Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.
This work was done by us (bb and RR) with MS and swara.com ravi.

Wow!! What a song!! Great selection, bb Sir! I never knew Jayachandran could sing like this! And the thing is, you could tell it was him and not KJ Yesudas.

Saravanan,
I think I have heard this song but am not sure as I do not seem to have heard the other songs mentioned in the film.() 79-83 I seemed to have missed so much. But I was on to other things I couldn't get the PC man over this sunday but am hopeful to do it before Saturday.
KV was instrumental in ruining RRC and his preference for a shaky TK Kala was another reason for his downfall.
By the way who composed for Thunaivan ( Marudamalayaane naangal vanangum perumaane!) was Deivam the only KV -devar combo . Or was it the success of thunaivan that made Devarturn to KV for Deivam - which is probably Kv's visiting card approps TFM.
venriduven is I suppose from Agathiyar - a fight seq bet Manohar and SG playing Ravanan & Agathiyar resply

This should rank among JC's top songs and probably his only Carnatic classical song in Tamil.JC's efforts are clear and neat in each movement of the song.Even the HindoLam swara singing is flawless and enjoyable. Thanks for the song!
In KV's 20+ movies I able to see the entire list of male/female playback singers of 70s apart from the likes Usha Uthup,Murugadoss,Somu etc.Despite his phenomenal carnatic base, composing imagination, inclination to use variety of singers, somehow KV could not fit in the role of a film MD.What exactly KV lacked? But Deivam,ThiruvaruL and RagabandhangaL will be discussed even years later.
TK Kala? AFAIK Agasthiyar has TKK scratching the tin for Master Shekhar.Other movies of KV you can t find TKK getting a major share.....
Vengayam,VendRiduvEn used to be my "cloth washing song" during bachelor days.)))

good one sara,
This seems to be a song, that has been hidden in my unconsious mind all the while and suddenly has popped up after listening to it.I dont seem to recognize this movie.but the song sounds so familiar.I am breaking my head, where i have listened to this song.Maybe a decade or so ago, in a tea stall radio or from a blaring sound system during a "thiruvizha".
I think there are a few similar tunes like this one.great one by JC.

"This should rank among JC's top songs and probably his only Carnatic classical song in Tamil." -OISG, You have forgotten "maanjolai kili thaano" , another semi classical treat from JC.
Thiruvarul must be from SG. Thodi raagam might be bedha pottu gaaru's(KV) last TF.

Thumburu,
ThiruvaruL is by KV only and it had the following songs:
1. UlagangaL yavum un ArasnagamE-TMS
2. Antha Marudha malaikku neenga -TMS
3. Malai muthu malai - PS
4. Kandan Kaladiyai-TMS
5. KandukondEn naan vanthathu-TMS
Hope this listing reminds you of those songs and their distinct KV flavour.
Manjaolai - You had answered your own question.Semi-classical it is.))You may add even "Vasantha kalangaL isainthu" into the semi-classical group.
Vengayam,"aadi paadi velaisenja aluppirukkadhu" enbathaRkERpa i used to sing this while washing clothes in those washing-machine less days. I used to unleash the alapanais, much to the discomfiture of my unsuspecting room-mate,regularly.

OISG: You have ariseda valid point about KV's role as a film MD. Though most of his film compositions are enjoyable, I feel that almost all of them are racy (even the classical compositions). Thus very few of them could match the majesty that at least I find in, say, KVM's classical compositions.

OISG,
I remember ' thiruvaruL' vividly where Jaya sells garlands outside a Murugan temple singing ' maalai, vaNNa maalai'. In a quick recap of Marudamalai temple's origins, Heron Ramaswamy comes as 'paambaatti siththar' who is said to have laid the foundations of the temple (similar to BOgar of Palani). There was one Ratnagiri saamiyaar famous those days. Even he makes a fleeting appearance in the film.

Is Real Audio the only format of the songs listed here? MP3 format would be much better as some of the stations on live365.com broadcast. Real Audio's error messages are very cryptic with no help to figure it out. You have a great selection of songs tho' and I appreciate your service.

Song of the Day: panikkaatrE panikkaatrE from Run.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/panikkatre.rm
- Sung by Balram and Sadhana Sargam. Music by Vidyasagar.
- Udhaya writes:
As seductive as the first snowfall, as guiddy as the feeling of true love, this song sets us on a swing and sways from start to finish. Other songs got due and undue notice, but this is the buried treasure in the soundtrack. Balram deserves many more songs. His voice shows the innocence of spirit without lacking experience or craft. Sadhana is a lark no doubt, especially when she bothers not to butcher the language. She acquits herself well here on that charge.
- Balram participated in newtfmpage discussions a while back. He wrote:
Thank u guys & girls for discussing about me:i.e Balram.
I am a Tamilian based in Mumbai and thanks to AR Rahman I got the break in Paarthale Paravasam with the song "Nee Dan En Desiya Geetham".I hv been singing lots of Tamil jingles in Mumbai like the "Mortein" one on air currently...
Subsequently I have recorded some more songs the latest being " Atha Ponne " for Kadhal.com (MD-Bharadwaj)which shows an entirel;y different style of mine.
Tippu ,Karthik & Devan are damn good singers and do justice to the songs they get.A song becoming a commercial hit is pure luck.If the film does well, songs and the subsequently the singers get noticed.
A classic example for me is "Pannikkatrae" in RUN which didn't get picturised even because it turned out to be over melodious. And today visuals play a very important role in a song's success.
As far as following earlier great singers ,I am of the opinion that each one is born with a distinct voice which may sound like someone else's.After singing my first Tamil song I realised that people in Chennai felt my voice resembles the legendary PBS.I hv grown up in Mumbai listening to only Hindi film songs of Rafi,Kishore,Hemant etc.I still lots of them in my shows. After listening to some tapes of PBS I feel he is GOD.You jus't can't copy the genius.Possibly his very soft rendering style was somewhere noticed in my singing.....
I am indeed very happy that my songs hv been liked by u all. Thanks once again & Happy listening!!!!.......Balram
