NM - Number of Movies
I have included 70 repeat movies of ARR essentially he has scored music for 59 movies in 10 year period something which he did in one year
more than one occasion. It is like comparing a hill with mountain. ARR has loo...........ong way to go before being bracketed with IR.

Uthaman,
AS ROFTL HAS CLAERLY PONTED OUT, QUANTITY IS NOT EQUAL TO QUALITY.
YOU HAVE MENTIONED THAT ARR HAS PRODOCED MUSIC MUSIC FOR 60 ODD FILMS. WHERE IS THE QUALITY,MAN?
JUST SAYING SIXTY LOOKS TOO GOOD, BUT MULTIPLY IT BY QUALITY FACTOR WHICH IS < 0.5 FOR ARR.
ARR fans are resorting to specious argument that "so what if ARR produces less numbar of films?; if quality is better than all MD's put together"
< b >IR IS KNOWN FOR HIS QUALITY. IT IS THE QUALITY OF HIS SONGS WHICH SETS HIM APART; INCIDENTALLY, HE PRODUCES GREAT SONGS IN ENORMOUS NUMBERS;
REMEMBER THE TATA LOGO: WE ALSO MAKE STEEL
by the way, where were you these days, Mr Uthaman?

Good try Cheenu, but can you stop shouting. :)
Going by your calculations, 60 x 0.5 = 30 which is not bad.
Not that I am agreeing to this.
IR produces great songs in enormous numbers? Who is this IR? Definitely not some one we all know. :)

quality matters, never quantity.........
IR is known only in the South of the Vindhyas. But ARR is known all over the world. They play his music on German Television, name him in TIME, dance to Chaiyya Chaiyya In Marseilles.........
Now pray, tell me where does IR stand?
I am tellin this not to defame the genius IR but to say that there is another genius ARR. If u compare both of them, u r doing injustice to music. Can u compare Tendulkar and Lara? Tendulkar has got the highest no. of runs in ODIs. Lara holds the record for the highest individual score in Tests and first class matches. Who is the best?
Come on guys, be more constructive in ur criticism.

No it is not magix.
I can only agree one thing with Pradeep and that is: ....that there is another genius ARR.

Now, you are provoking me. It is a bad example.
ST is far..far ...far better than BL. You want me to prove it by statistic, then I am ready. Getting 1st rank in one monthly test or in a quarterly test is not a big deal. What is a big deal is how consistently you acheive that. Sachin is the most consistent cricket in the globe. Even with his 3 recent ducks, he has an average more than 58 and more than 44 in ODI.
I am ready for an argument.

We all know Arr oops ST is the best player around. But he is still yet to beat IR's oops Lara's highest score. guess Quantity matters more here! :)
Sachin's so consistent to the extent that he even scores ducks consistently. (note: no mention of ARR! ;) )
ulp what am i saying?? He's my fav cricketer!!

but after three duck he comes with a bang. With 41 and 86 scintillating innings.
In earlier occation also after a duck in the singer tournament ST had 2 more ducks with west indies in a tri series with NZ. The next match he score a century and totally thre cent. in that series. 2 with NZ and 1 with WI. And man of the series. BL has not returned fully after that 375. In that same year of 375 and 501, he came to India and his only heighest score was 91 in the last test at mohali. Sachin had 2 fifties and a big 179 in Madras.
Even in WI recently he scored more than Lara and ultimately took his wicket.
When it comes to ST, I am a SPM here. (S.P Mahendran...don't take it seriously)

on the other hand tis better to leave the same old IR vs ARR and go on to sumthin new......probably ST vs BL :)

Hi friendz,
What I was trying to convey was that everyone is good in his own right.......We hear the best of IR and the creme de la creme of ARR and say it is nice...No one's gonna crib about that.....It is important to understand that there cannot be anything called "best".........All that is subjective and upto the opinion of the person.
What I can conclude is that the two MDs in question r really wunderful creators of music......
Let's jus' sit back and enjoy.......
One more thing to that BL vs. ST war......Wisden has not named any of ST's innings as one of the 100 best ever but 2 of BLs inning find a mention....now can we agree with that?
That's why, guyz, I say that we cannot compare greats......it is futile and is an injustice to both.......

CF,
While i have a great regard for ST, u provoked me
( :-) ) by calling BL inferior to ST....
Has ST won any....ANY test match for us ??? Throw away the stats !! In onedayers, he has done enuf...I may agree...but in tests ?? What ultimately matters in the result...
BL single handedly won two back to back matches against the mighty australians...with some 90 runs partnership with walsh, which u chose to ignore....What did ST do in the most important series with pak ?!?!?! He took us all the way upto some 16 runs close to victory and gave away a skier and we lost the match ?? U may ask, what were the other 10 morons doing ??? I too did...but asking that doesn't win us the match, does it ?
The greatness of Lara lies there....he made sure they are thro' and didn't depend on anyone to finish off the game....That's why his century is there in the Wisden list..
I for one, don't believe in the stats business...and that's why u can't find any posts of mine related to this topic here :-)

The difference between a good player and a great player is that a great player makes runs when you need them. That's why Steve Waugh is IMO, a better player than say Geoff Boycott.
Whether Sachin's 41 and 86 were scintillating or not, fact was Windies won the series.
Lara didnt come good in the 94 series. But that run-a-ball 91 at Mohali was good enough to level the series. Windies scored 300+ at nearly 5 an over, and had sufficient time to bowl India out.
And BTW, I am neither taking sides in a ST-BL faceoff or IR-ARR faceoff. After all, I havent missed a ball of ST's many great innings - just 2 days back watched that epic 136 off 272 deliveries and a back injury on Jan 31 1999 at Madras.
And guys, forget about Wisden - they elect 5 best cricketers each year and 3 of them are from county. And in the top 10 best bowling of Onedayers, they chose Madan Lal's 3-31 on 25/6/83 at #10. How many agree with that? I found Madan's bowling entertaining that day coz Viv spanked him for 5-6 fours!!
Now, dont go overboard and tell me I'm a HC Windies fan, am just telling the facts!

And getting back to the topic, IR fans gotta realise that nowadays people's tastes have changed and that's the way people in the film industry will go...beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder!
Take your pick and let others take theirs. Same goes for ARR fans.
And personally I consider ragam in a song v.Imp and prefer IR+MSV anyday over ARR.
