"The album kicks in with the very catchy ye ye ennachu sung by Vasundhara Das in manner that only she can. Next is a beauty of a ballad sonnalum by Unnikrishnan and Harini.
Vaan nila by Srinivas and Karthik is a highly innovative rock-n-roll track that would not let your feet rest. S P Balu is in his usual fantastic form in the heart warming yenthan vanin. Rahman takes off again into a very progressive FTV style track in bailmore with T R Simbu and Tippu doing the vocal honours. And the album ends on a grand note with Mano and Clinton going for the gut with o kadhale, which also sits on an emotional high note in the movie.
Kaadhal Virus has all the ingredients of a typical Kathir-A R Rahman soundtrack. A great mix of upbeat youthful tracks and soulful ballads"

Ramki, though manthoorana veedhiyil 'sounds' like a faster version of sonnalum, I dont thing its based on the same raaga ....

You may want to revisit all the threads...You did go thread after thread, day after day to attack not only those albums but anything remotely positive anyone had about IR.
It is just amazing to see you get on your high horses....God Bless You

vaan nila ,he he enna aachchu and baila are very good. vaazhga vaazhga is listenable just for SPB.I usually find ARR's melodies to be uninteresting. This album again proves that.(IMO)
His strength lies in songs like vaan nila (another great one is hello mister from iruvar).

Guys..I am posting after a period of net in activity. Listened to the KV songs. Looks like ARR is back to the limelight in TFM.
Sonnalum takes the cake for the melody. I loved the lyrics and harini does a commendable job in depicting the angst of "kanni manam".
Ye ye ennachu..is the surprise package..initially you feel it sounds like a DJ remix of a song...but it slowly gets to you. Vasundra has sung this song with a lot of enthu..which makes it swell with energy...the way she starts with "OK" and hums the tune...oh so cute
Piano sax and drums have been used effectively in the song "van Nila"...another fast paced catchy song. Listen to the sax pieces in the middle...the tune reminds me of the starting piece for the TV series "Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot"...the mood created is of mystery. Any1 felt the same?
"oh kadale"...a slow melody...the starting 4 lines are really melodious...but in the middle parts it the tune kind of goes astray....Listen to "kadale..kadale" humming...the tune reminds you of "yaadein yaad athe hein..baaten bul jatheiyen"
Bailamore is like the "hello doctor" song...of the passable variety...the "azhage" part is very catchy. Both this and "ye ye" employ different kind of percurssion loops so which makes them interesting...
I was not that impressed by "yenthan vannin" song..except for SPB voice..pretty run of the mill song.
PS: What kind of a name is "kathal virus"...kathir needs to clean up his act...ithayam was good...kadhal desam was passable..kadhal dhinam was unsycable...so i am not looking forward to see the movie...may be for the songs...hope he doesn't waste all the hard work done by ARR.

Kaadhal Virus' music is infectious
CHENNAI: Say what you want about A R Rahman’s music, but there is little doubt that he is one of the few innovative composers around. And it is this trait of the ‘Mozart of the East’ that comes to the fore in Kathir’s Kaadhal Virus.
The album is a cocktail of different musical styles — rock’n roll, trance, pop, carnatic... and more. All the songs are good and potential superhits. There are six songs, out of which three are likely to be more popular among the younger generation because of their fast tempo and racy beats.
Vasundhra Das excels in the opening track Ye Ye Enna Aachu. In the beginning, her voice is smooth and very relaxed — almost to the extent of being labelled sleepy — but midway through it transforms and is full of energy. Also, the enthusiasm with which she delivers the number is infectious and makes the listener want to hum along with her. P Vijay’s lyrics for the song are simple and refreshing. Moreover, unlike other lyricists, he doesn’t unnecessarily use English words for a fast number. Another highlight of the song is the mixing.
But it is not the best song of the cassette. That honour goes to Vaan Nila — a song that is reminiscent of Elvis Presley’s rock’n roll style. Though the tune is not an easy one, Sreenivas and Karthik have rendered the number with aplomb. Janarthanan on the saxophone is also impressive.
On the flip side, T R Simbu — son of T Rajender — who will soon make his debut as a hero, has combined with Tippu for Baila More. This is a very progressive track with heavy beats. Also, there is a lady singing in French in the background for added affect. Wonder if Vaalee wrote the lyrics for her too.
The other three songs are melodious and rendered by three of the best singers in the Tamil music scene today — S P Balasubramainam, Mano and Unnikrishnan. The lyrics are also well written, especially in the song Sonnallum by Vaalee.
Another good aspect about the album is that the lyrics have been printed on the cassette cover. This will gladden the hearts of many karaoke enthusiasts.
This also the first time that Sony Music has bought the audio rights of a regional film.
Kadhal Virus is available on Sony Music and is priced at Rs 45.
