Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy can be brought to TFM

Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.

I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

  Dear isai_nanban, I feel that Bend it like Beckham was technically a poor film...there are scenes were u can see the microphone and also scenes where the camera is totally out of focus....
  I believe that SEL should stay in India and do good here....as it is better to rule in hell than to serve in heaven!

  Nice to see u in such forums (i've seen u in Mouthshut too) trying to get the pulse of the public. I have thoroughly enjoyed ur music be it ur brilliant Mission Kashmir, ur trend setting Dil Chahta hai, ur experimentive Aalavandan or ur soulful Kal ho na ho..In fact I buy all SEL albums including Nayee Padosan :-)
  
  1. Its in this aspect that i am curious to know wot kinda music can we expect out of Lakshya ? It not exactly a war film but still based on war - so can u guys pull off another Anu Malik - JP Dutta?
  
  2. Kyun..Ho Gaya na stars the lovely Ash - so can we expect some soulful romantic numbers ? N guys, why arent u using Shreya Ghoshal - she sounds ethereal :-)

  I hardly listen to Hindi Songs..I liked Aalavandhan Songs but after going through this forum I listened to Kal ho na ho and it was really fantastic. Will keep listening to others too...It was really different..

  hi ramki thanks for your lovely comments. lakshya's music is nothing like the anu malik / jp dutta kind all i can say is to wait till the music releases. kyun ho gaya na does have a few romantic numbers and have turned out quite nice. we did use shreya ghoshal on a song for the film rudraksh unfortunately the entire song situation changed and the song was dropped , we hope to work with her quite soon. thanks sundar great to know that.

  I asked you a question. You have not replied it yet. Do you like the idea of separate MDs and Background Music Scorers? Do you feel comfortable with this? Do not you think that there is a lack of harmony because of this?
  
  I have one more question. Do you like the idea of cut and paste recording? Or do you like your co-singers to sing together for a particular song?

  well dilwala sometimes its not possible for us to do a background score because of schedules and very often due to budgets , yes there is a lack of harmony very often.
  we prefer to make singers sing separately.

  Nice to see you back. I have purchased the KHNH, and it didnt disappointed me. It is a good relief to hear different kind of music in Johar's film. I liked Pretty Women, Its the time for Disco and Mahi Ve. Title song could have been much better. This only song has the 'ghisaa pita' johar-srk attitude. The duet version suffers the same problem.
  Otherwise a great album. Keep it up.

  my thoughts on crap questions:
  
  what are the music schools in india that impress sophisticated world musicians' imagination other than 70s, 80s Indian film music? as far as I know only one music school is like a univers"et"y - the IR school of music, anyone who comes "even" 7 billion miles (edge of the solar system, for now our familiar Universe) of this institution, i would be happy to give up my fanatic attitude.

  hi saathiya believe it or not arr was our first choice of vocalist for the dil chahta hai title track.
  dilwala loy and i still compose jingles commercials like tata indigo , centre shock , pear soap , the new nirma etc have music composed by us.
  musicians institute in los angeles and the berklee school of music are good schools ....... there are schools like julliard in new york which are primarily classical based.

  hi ganesh our basic programming is done using samples after which if needed we dub live percussion on top.
  arrangments require a sense of imagination as to what one can do for a song , it is better to arrange yourself and not to use an outside arranger.

  creating a song is a result of team effort so most interference is welcome provided its something constructive that will better the final product.
