An effort to remember at least 1000 good, popular hits of IR. No, this thread is not simply to list them! Please give running serial number & each of the song should have some nice comments about them...and no repetitions please!

  I am not able to identify most of your additions and that's one of the reasons why I didn't comment on it. I felt pretty strongly about some of the numbers that you wanted out and that's why I even offered my comments. BTW, is Sangeetha Megham in ? IMO, it should be ! Eden can you send me a copy of the updated list too ? Can't it be linked off newtfmpage ?

  Here are more additions that I feel are better than the ones I have voted out (and yes, these songs aren't in the current 1000 list):

  1. EngeyO EdhO Paatondru KEttEn (Nadhiyaith ThEdi Vandha Kadal) - it's a duet by PS & Idon'tknowwho. Is there also a solo by SJ as you have posted?
  
  2. Oru Kaadhal Devadai (Saaindhaadamma Saaindhaadu) is by PS & SPB.
  
  3. Vizhiyil ... Vizhiyil Oru (Ram LakshmaN) - PS & SPB.

  Kattuvazhip Pora must certainly be IN just for the fact that it was very very popular.
  
  Then, in J. KalyaaNaraman, I think "RaadhE En RaadhE" sounds a lot better than "Chinnap poo chinnap poo" which IMO is a very ordinary song, I mean chinnap poo.
  
  AasaiyilE Paathikaatti is the most remembered of the few good songs from Enga Ooru Paattukkaran - I don't understand why you are not sure about it!
  
  Dil Dil Dil Manadhil must be included for its melody IF YOU'RE GOING TO INCLUDE ooru chanam: It can be certainly be placed ahead of many many songs that have made it to the 1000!
  
  I am not sure about Un Nenja thottu chollu - but I mention it here because it was included in the movie later on after they thought the song was befitting!
  
  Raaja Chinna Raaja PoondhalirE-kku enna kurai? Wasn't it a very popular song of "Pundhalir" times? I think you're prejudiced against PS! Certainly I will not include it if I were to collect IR's best songs, but I think we are not limited to just best songs here.

  I could n't remember many of the songs u have listed.
  But, Mayilaadum paaraiyila must be excluded if u people are removing, Aathu metula from Ponnumani and Vidiya vidiya nadanam from Idhayathai thirudathae.
  
  Also, I think, Ooru sanam thongiruchu should be included.
  and also, Dhil dhil dhil manathil.
  I don't know why u people don't like Ammamma vanthathu ingu singakutti by KH.

  I don't pay attention to female singers in TFM unless the songs are female solos or they're exceptional. In many duets the female singer just takes a backseat to the male lead repeating or just changing the second person to first person. So, my omission of PS was not intentional. She happens to be my favorite female singer btw. I just assumed that IR never gave much opportunity to PS.

  I just give nominations,buddy. I can't get into why one is better than the other, if I did we could be here for days on end without solving anything. Just take my vote for it, if the song is in it's in if not, fine.

  Karthi!
  Asayile pathi katti is from Enga ooru `kaava'kkaran (these film titles are really so confusing...chinnathambi, chinnavar, chinnamappille, chinnagounder, chinnajameen..cheh!)
  
  That one is really a nice song (I mean the PS solo version)! It's unfortunate that I didn't include the name of the singer in the spreadsheet! There's a possibility that the Mano-PS version of the song could've got Udhaya's disapproval (even I don't like that version much)!

  I thought "Raja Chinna Raja" has better alternatives and that is why I felt it must go. I am not familiar with the other songs and that's why I had not commented on them. As for PS, while I like SJ better, I don't recall a single instance where I have criticized PS - simply because I haven't heard enough of her to pass judgement ! :-)

  Is there anyone with me in support of including `ManjakkuLichchu, aLLi mudichchu' and tossing out some other? This is one lovely folk number with urumi & all, energetic singing by SJ and some beautiful tempo variations thanks to the sequence in the film 16 Vayadhinile! (Azhagappa, Azhagappa, Aanazhagan neeyappa........)

  there's this bit from annakkiLi that IR repeated in annanukku jay as "sOlai iLanguyilE". it doesn't appear in the soundtrack, u have to see the film.
  adi aaththaa - avaL appadiththaan: cool solo by IR, vibrant traditional percussion

  ooru vittu ooru vanthu- '': hit-aachchuppa, athukkaaga vENumnaaaa....
  thuvakkam engE - mahandhi: hey, this one's one of the good ones that IR has given in the 90s
  mEloor maaman - makkal aatchi: ok song, but nothing great. i mention it only because worse ones have been listed
  poththi vachcha malligai- mann vasanai: i know, i know, the happy one's been listed, this is the pathos version by SJ
  
  adikkuthu kuliru - mannan: this song is a phenomenal feat i that IR made rajni SING!!! athukkagavE...:-)))))))

  rambambam - MMKR: i simply love this song. great foot-tapper
  yeraatha malai mele - mudhal mariyathai: vintage IR-VM creation, the pastoral whiff is still fresh
  devan kovil - naan paadum paadal: this is the duet featuring "mike" mohan's voice, sn surender
  kadalukkuL serum thanni - nadodi thenral: a short but sweet song
  uyire uyire urugathe - oruvar vaazhum aalayam: urukkuvaikkum KJY paattu
  ekantha veLai - paadum paRavaigaL: guys, this is incredible. this is among IR's top 100!!!!
