Sridhar,
From 1:25, it was a very smooth flow into Modulation of different Scale which appears to be Natabhairavi...Then around 2:00 to 2:46, you moved in the so called natabhairavi scale. it was very nice. 2:43 to 2:46 the patterns are very good. I would call the pattern in 2:43 to 2:46 as another bridge...Rather than abruptly entering kalyani scale after 2:46, you may add another 4 or more bars ( using the same pattern that was used between 2:43 and 2:46 ) to apply parallel chords that will eventually resolve the melody into kalyani...Choosing the correct chords and extending the second bridge might make this a very good score. The First bridge that puts us from kal to nat is flawless...you can do the similar approach for the second one too. Hope you don't mind me doing this...Overall very innovative score. I like it.
Regards,
Aditya

Wow!
That was some analysis. Around 2:00, the score shifts to 'Ni' of Kalyani as the root note. Does it make it natabhairavi? I have my own reasons (not a musical one) for the abrupt shift at the end of that phrase. Your idea of the bridge is interesting. But I will work on the bridge and let us see if it makes it more interesting for the listener. On one hand, I am glad that you got the abrupt feel that I intended the listener to feel. If you carefully listen, the counterpoint (played in harp) during the natabhairavi exercise, is the same phrase that appears through out the composition. That is the essence of this composition. That single phrase appears in various forms adapting to different settings. It also appears at the end of the piece when things fading away on the bass guitar. Never giving up. That represents 'me' persisting across all the different scenarios I am put into.

Sridhar:
If it's Ni the root note -> it should be Todi.
But it didn't appear to be Todi to me but Natabhairavi. By the time 2:00 I think the score modulates to a scale where Ga is a root note of your kalyani scale and your melody might have started at Ni in the new Scale. Let me look at it again. There are many ways to look at the Scale Modulation. Scale Modulation should lift you up or down preferably not really getting aware of it hence a bridge (long or short) seems to be a needed element.
Not to bring names here but for familiarity sake...listen to the following songs to understand what I understood about the bridges experimented by a great composer.
Composer himself was experimenting in one single album and figure out what's the best approach.
"What if I modulate the scale abruptly -> without any bridges"
Observe the way the pallavi and charanam abruptly modulating.
Movie : Alaigal Oivathilai
song : Vaadi En
"What if I modulate the scale slowly -> with a bridge having some parallel chords that will resolve into the next melody scale."
Observe the way the interludes bridge and put you into a charanam...best practices of bridge is demonstrated in this song.
Same Movie : Alaigal Oivathilai
Song: Kadhal Oviyam
Whole of Bombay Dreams album is a good demonstration of this concept. Rageela re based song and...then salaam bombay are the ones...they are not mere film tunes give a close look:-))
You can always apply what sounds to your ear the best...it's a personal choice and if it's appropriate that's fine.
Regards,
Aditya

Sridhar there's a typo...please read it as below:
By the time 2:00 I think the score modulates to a scale where Ga in Kalyani Scale is the root note and your melody might have opened with Ni in the Kalyani Scale. Because it sounds to me like Natabhairavi than todi.

I am glad that somebody listened to Bombay Dreams. Wonderful work by Rahman. Rangeela re based song is done very well.
Rahman has used abrupt scale change in 'Vennila" in "Iruvar". It depends on the situation. As I told you before that my composition warranted the abrupt nature.
I am sure that Raja had a similar requirement in "Vaadi En kappa". It is application of various techniques.

Wow! This thread is on fire!!!! :o)
For atleast 3 months we didn't have much posts, now people are back in here. Has it anything to do with the revival of US economy? :-)
Sridhar: We can never stop learning. Can we? Glad to know that I am helping you.
Aditya: Got stuck somewhere in a new composition in Chandrakauns. Kind of neo-classical composition. Cannot explain exactly what the genre is, but am trying my level best to get some inspiration. That is hard to find these days :o)
Will keep you posted. Keep it going guys.

Gurus, Guys and Friends :o)
The "pre release" of my next music piece "Shadows"
http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=1913&alid=-1
(please download the song on your computer. I have not allowed users to stream it yet)
Actually I have completed only the first movement, and is not the final mix. I would like your honest opinions on this 1st "movement" and see if the technique is OK or bad.
Thanks,
Eswar
PS: Please note that I have not used any other instruments/sequencers/synthesisers except my good ol' tracking program and my Dell PC :o) So please don't mind any mistakes I have made in it. It terribly lacks string sections and I am really sad that I am not able to add it :o(
