I really would like to steer this thread back to its topic, instead of going thru so many frustration-exchanges...
Just wondering...if its question of a song like Mugavari's o nenje nenje, it had bits of initial parts copied. But if its a question of the same film's 'poo...' number where its exactly replicated from the song 'that thing you do' isnt there any way that one can make Deva responsible for his plagiarism?
For that matter, even SAR did a exact replica of Junoon's Sayonee. Since Junoon is a Pakistani band and might be clued in to Indian film music, suppose they come across our man SAR's version in some channel, isnt there any way they can seek legal respite for such nonsense?
I had read recently that Michael Jackson was fined some heavy amount for not acknowledging the source of some Italian composer's piece which he had used in his album, (I think) Thriller. Is Indian law so lenient that people like Deva and SAR can get away with such degrees of copying?

Just find sources on the net, that you can use
and lead to the original sources. Once they become aware of such a thing is going on in India, they can put a "Pillayaar suzhi" for killing all this nonsense !!!!

Guys, I had contributed some of the audio clips to the copied songs list which u can see if u click the link at the top of this thread. It would be nice if someone could just come out with some more audio links or sources for those songs(original and tamil)so that it would help in verifying those copies.

This may not have anything to do with TFM but I feel it might impact it very soon!
Sandeep Chowta has said to a few magazines and sites that he has started a new trend by acknowledging the source of his inspirations, in his album, pyar tune kya kiya.
I was wondering how much Sandeep Chowta got inspiration for his music in Pyar tune kya kiya, ever since he gave out a press release that he
has acknowledged a European musician for a song in this album!
The musician happens to be Wojceich Killar and Sandeep has lifted the tune for one of his songs from Killar's song 'Vampire Hunters'. The
PTKK soundtrack mentions the names
W Killar/Sandeep Chowta for the
song 'Roundhe hain mujko tera pyaar' sung by Alisha Chinoy and again by Sowmya, separately.
Vampire hunters is part of the soundtrack for the movie Bram Stroker's Dracula. I listened to the original and was stunned to find it exactly same as our Sandeep's score! The tune is incredible, BTW!! This is no inspiration. Sandeep has worked probably on the backgrounds and orchestration, a bit, but the basic tune is exactly same! I'm not sure if this would fall under 'inspiration'.
Again, is it enough that you give credit to somebody like this? Doesnt the original composers consent count? What if Deva adds a small note in the album cover of Mugavari acknowledging Dr Alban, The Wonders, Backstreet boys etc? Is that enough!? Just wondering!
For Sandeep's song 'Roundhe hain':

I think in the film Mugavari most of the songs are lifted from various source
I think one song 'Aye Keechu Kiliye' is a straight lift from Dr. Alban song forgot the original score though,
and another one Nenje is lift from Backstreet Boys Well done Deva

'Yeh Lal Rang' from the Hindi movie Premnagar.
The out come was Roja Roja in Kadalar dinam.

Naga:
You said it right! :-)
I had sent this info to indya.com too and the msg I got from them was this!
"In response to your e-Mail, we would like to inform you that we have appreciated the entire album in our review, and not just the one song. The song has been credited to both of them. We have no reasons to believe Sandeep didn't add value to it. And we can't judge it till we know how the song is used in the film. Also, the praise for the album in the review is for the overall album and not the song. We appreciate your understanding on the same."
All I wanted was an open discussion on how feasible is a 'mere' credit when you 'lift' others songs! This is not about credit...assuming a song which has 2 credits, becomes a huge success, who gets the praise then? Was the original composer consulted before the lift? Did he agree to the act?
There are so many things involved in it, so Sandeep cannot escape merely by adding Killar's name! Even in that the album has absolutely no other info just says 'W Killar'! Ideally, if he really wants to share credit then it should also mention his full name, where has this been featured originally, and who worked on that!
Pity!

Its KR now. First two lines of 'desingu raaja desingu raaja ' from dum dum dum is exactly similar to ARR's 'onnu rendu moonuda pengaLai paarada' from Pudhiya MannargaL
- From: Karthik S (@ 164.164.82.22)
on: Tue Mar 13 00:10:24 EST 2001
Onnu rendu moonu and desingu raja do seem similar for the first 3 or 4 words but i think its not intended by KR specifically!
KR however has better cases of copies. Like the Evita song, Buenos Aires which he lifted for 'hello enthan kaadhala' in naam iruvar namakku iruvar. I'd try posting a real audio file of the original.
And my personal fave! Ullasam's 'solare' song. I wouldnt call it a direct copy but a very subtle lift - a true inspiration.
The original is a song by Dubai based Bhangra singer, Sukhbir - 'Oi Tiresto'. Listen to this song and you could traces of solare all over...in the tune pattern...but Karthikraja has definitely worked on his song.
Again, Sukhbir is not the most original of composers. he had blatantly lifted Israeli singer Ishtar's (she sings for the band, Alabina, alongwith the gypsy cousin quartet Los ninos de sara) song 'alabina' for his 'yalla yalla' which was on air in Indian music channels occasionally.
And I found out that even his Oi Tiresto is not his own. So its possible that KR has been influenced by the original oi tiresto and that might have much more of what KR has done in Ullasam.
Sukhbir's version of Oi Tiresto is:
