We Don't Deserve AR Rahman

Honestly I think India doesn't deserve someone talented and intelligent like AR Rahman. I think compared to his group of fans, there are double the amount of Deva and Raja fans. (Read that again, I'm not saying that there are no ARR Indian appreciators or fans)

Is it because Indians are unable to understand his style of music? Is it because deep inside, ghana and dhampakoothu are what they want?

If tomorrow, ARR decides to give up India music, I will be happy because he gets the recogniztion he deserves overseas and can concentrate on his western projects more. Read Andrew Lloyd Webber and Michael Jackson.

  my point was to convey that if you a resident indian had said the same things.. they wud have no answer... but since I am not a resident indians it gives them an opportunity to shy away from the real point and take pot shots at me for "running away"

  100 % true... the reason people become "aatu manthai" engineers & doctors and "aatu manthai" NRI's is because other people do it! there r very few exception in our country.. although i'd like to be one i certainly am not!

  You have included me in many places in your postings many of them are not for me I guess. If you look back my posting, first I answered to the questions like can you get duplicate mark sheet, duplicate license etc., stuff. I was telling that it is still possible in some places in India to get those things without any problem.
  
  Next I told there were records maintained in India too. Which is required and which is not required is upto system to decide. You may not find records for sex abuse, child molestation etc which I guess you know how these matters are treated.
  
  When somebody tells US is great I replied that they too have problem.I quoted few UK guy's as an example. ( They are my friends ) This is a fact not an assumption.
  
  FYI, I stay in DETROIT so I can feel the difference between the roads which any detroit guy can tell you. Detroit doesnt have enough money to lay proper roads. When Chicago has similar climate but still can have better roads, why not detroit? Every detroit guys thinks like this. This is similar to village guys in India migrating to City and criticising the village.
  
  US is getting worse, this is not a blanket statement this is absolutely TRUE!!!!. This is not just based on roads, but lot of related stuff which there is proof.
  
  I can give you lot of examples about this as I am seeing them from 1997.
  
  Next I am not stereotyped to assume things about NRI's, I am an NRI and I have seen lot of NRI's who feel that they never belong to India. I never assumed things in all my postings. All of them are based on my experiences with people I met. You know what when I said 30% of NRI's hate India, that is based on my statistics. May be I always met wrong people.
  
  Conclusion: There is a difference between somebody who feel bad about India and who hate India for being what it is. Thats what I was always telling. Those who feel bad can do something to India and who hate can do nothing good. Its upto one to decide what they have against India.

  You say that detroit roads are not good as chicago roads. By that, u say that 'even usa has problems'. Agreed. But i dont get the point. Do u mean to say that - it is ok for india to have bad roads that, since EVEN usa has bad roads.??
  
  There is no need for comparison. If a road is bad and may cause some accidents - then the road has to be fixed. If there is a banana-peel on the path - it has to go to the dustbin. If there is corruption - it is bad - it has to be eradicated. Just go by logic. There is no need for comparison.
  
  But when somebody make a comparison by saying, USA is better than india, - i understand that. What i understand is, if it is possible in USA, even we can do it. If we are unable to do it, there is something wrong. First Accept it. Then fix it and go forward. But if somebody dodges this fact and talks about culture, temple, marriage, usa is a young country, india is a old country etc.. Well.. i appreciate it. But, how does that compensate for the problems noted above?

You said talking about immorality in US is similar to talking India as a place of snake charmers...That's what exactly the Satyam girl says about India - Indians are a non-intelligent stupid lot listening to ghana kind of songs and do not deserve ARR:-) Only US & other western countries deserve an intelligent person like him...do you agree with that? I do not! Kerala literacy rate is >90% and TN is about 60%. This girl does not know ANYTHING about our classical music and has NO IDEA about the quality of songs in TFM, ARR market etc. Simply started a hate thread and ran away...
  
  2. My talking about the morality stats of US is not based on `India today' or grandma tales:-)) Let me tell you the sources I rely upon:
  a) My personal interaction with around 20 american families (whites, taiwanese, brazilian, mexican, filipino origin as well as african americans) during a 3 month stay in CA, TX & NY & many more americans who correspond with me regularly
  b) Magazines published from NY with worldwide circulation of 40mn plus each month. Did you know that a recent Newyork times issue estimated total porn media business in US at greater than the broadway business itself? So where does our Satyam girl want intelligent ARR to perform and get recognition?:-))

  I've never questioned the `work culture' `etiquettes' `cleanliness' etc. etc. of west superior to India. Read my posts carefully. Neither I said we are great in everyway. I'm a severe critic of the -ves of India / Indians. With all these things understood, I still feel ART is rich in India & so is the culture. In my 36 yrs of life, I've not seen a husband divorcing a wife in India because he can't stand her rheumatiod arthritis!
  
  ARR is ruling the country currently and let's be happy about it. If he makes it big worldwide, we'll be happier, no doubt; but we need not denounce our taste to glorify him is all what I tried to say....

  Before that tell me how many maamanaarus have maameeyaars and how many of them have just one marumagal throughout life. Further, many maamiyars do not know that they have a grand kid. Happen to watch the 'Famous Jerry Springer Show' and came across examples of every possible human relationships. 'Enna Ulagamada Saamee ithu'

  1. Where legal husband & wife do not seem to live together for most part of their lives, where is the question of mAmiyAr being with them? The mAmiyAr @60yrs may be busy advertising on matrimonial TV, for a 29 yr boy:-) Jokes apart, US is far ahead in percentage terms w.r.t violence on women at home front! I have the UN published statistics at home, will bring & post later in Forum hub. mAmiyAr adichA valikkum, mathavA udhaichA inikkumO? (Here again I strongly object to the generalisation of torching of D-i-L in India. How can you compare the `1 out of 2' divorce rate of US with something like `one in a million' of DIL torching in India? ABSURD!
  
  This is another `country full of snake charmers' stuff...India has around 500 mn females & say 250 mn of them are married. How many cases you come across each day / month / year? I have lived in TN & Kerala...I'm yet to encounter one such case in any of my personal circles; even the news paper / police reported cases will be definitely 1 in a mn no doubt...(Please don't misunderstand that I condone even that 1 in a mn, no, never, it's definitely barbaric & not in sync with the loving-joint-family-culture of India. But still the home violence is far below the US grade)

AIDS is an import (or conspiracy?) from west again IMHO & it's a UNIVERSAL MODERN CATASTROPHY - applicable for Americas, Europe, Asia & Africa alike. % of HIV infected v/s the total population is not any less in west...FYI, all TN population is not truck drivers, though we have more trucks & drivers than many other states...OK, we'll try to distribute AnuRaikaL at tea / liquor shops much like the vending machines for kids in US schools to avoid HIV / teen preg.!:-)
  
  OK buddy, now take this stat - I have personally counted more # of street beggars in San Rafael than in Palakkad (bus station, freeway etc.)!!! & the population of Palakkad is probably 10 times that of San Rafael! This % is a great testimony to the developed / modern / hi-tech state of California!!! (& I haven't seen in this town the african americans who demand `gimme a $' in a menacing tone which is common in some other cities; These are bearded men in rugs, mostly whites, sometimes sitting on the road divider with written placards; I have seen the generous bus station attendant -an old Pakistani- sharing his `egg masala' with some of these hungry beggars)
  
  Tell me- this country is so rich, so much developed, lot of benevolent people who help `3rd world countries' etc....they why beggars? why mugging? why's NY / LA in the top five crime capitals of the world?
  
  End digression...let's talk about ARR's music & why it should be / should not be offered to Indians, esp. ThamizhargaL!
