Rex and Suresh,
You guys have taken a very well thought out decision. Yes. I hope this will be a great step in the right direction.
All IR Fans, please use the above Sites only for sampling and please do go buy authentic CD's and tapes . I guess though we will miss some excitement, it's right step at the right time.
Way to Go !

Webmasters
I understand the gravity of this problem. The idea of uploading song samples instead of the entire song is also good. But for people like me who are far away from India, its not that easy to get some of the Rare songs u people have posted on the net. So i would say dont post any songs from the New movies, but make sure the you dont take away the rare gems. If you people still want to do away with ur web pages, i am sure there will be lot of sincere fans who will get disappointed with that.

Srisailam Vasudevan:
I am as vociferous as any of the fans to my website, as I myself am an ardent fan of my own website. There were just 2 things I had in mind when I started this website.
1) To propagate IR's glory and his musical prowess.
2) To bring all the IR fans together and to serve IR Fans with his pleasing numbers.
I had no other interests, whatsoever. I do not even carry a single link to my own "puranams".. You cannot even see a reference to my own personal website, or even my photo!! That much, I am committed only to IR, his music and his fans like you!!
Since copyright issues are brought to my attention and a whole gamut of issues have been raised, my response is called for. You are safe, with my judgment, is all that I can say. I will not remove all the links. I will retain the links, unless alternate arrangements are made to bring in IRs CDs and cassettes so that they are freely available for those who might be interested in purchasing them.
I will however do the sampling, only if I feel that such albums are available aplenty in the open market. BGM tracks would be uploaded with all earnestness. However when the same BGM track, if released as a CD (like HEY RAM), I will not upload that.
You will see slow, but steady changes taking place. That is for ethical reasons and for the sake of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja and his feelers!! In that process, I would like to take all the fans of my website into my confidence. I do not want to lose either the feelers, or the fans. That is why I have asked anyone to contact me over email, if this message should cause any confusion in your minds.
Thanks for your understanding and always remember -- I will not take any knee-jerk decision!! I promise.
Regards,
Rex

A more pointblank response to your anxious query: I will not remove the links to rare gems. But the spirit should be appreciated and with all earnestness, if CDs and cassettes are available, they should be purchased by fans.

IR fans be rest assured.
Quite a few people are making a lot of efforts to bring out Old IR melodies in legal, authentic formal CD/tapes into the market .
So hopefully it's just a matter of time before we see CD's of the golden/olden gems in a store near you .
Cheers

I only use these sites to listen to while I am at work. Especially on the weekends and late nights when I am all alone at work trying to finish yet another project, I like to play Raja as loud as I can to relieve stress. It works wonders.
But lately I have also used these sites to listen to newer songs before I go out and buy the CD. I always buy the CD no matter how I feel after listening to it on the net, because I know the CD sounds ten times better than my computer.
However, I have often wondered if uploading new songs as fast as you guys do would not be counter productive. Actually, I am pretty sure it would be.
I think samples of songs is the way to go for new albums. Play just enough to stir curiosity/interest.
kudos to you Rex and G. Seresh for willing to take a hit in the popularity contest to do the right thing.
Long live Raja

Rewx & Suresh & all,
Why don't we do this? In Trichy my brother recently recorded about 500 IR songs on three CD's for about Rs. 800. So, if you guys can publish the list of songs with the moive name, singers, etc. as an ascii text, just ready to be printed, then it will be easy for the folks like me to record the way like my brother did.
Any comments?

I too AGREE with Rex and Suresh's decision of playing songs samples instead of whole songs in our sites.
I don't have much to say since; I too disappointed with this news...
Thanks to Rex and Suresh for taking right decision at the right time.
As far as my site is in concern, there will be NO MORE SONGS upload in the future, for sure. I will leave the links as they are right now (until hear further developments from Rex).
Thanks to all Ilaiyaraaja's fans for your kind supports. I earnestly ask all Ilaiayaraaja's fans to buy authenticate CDs or audiocassettes in the future. Thanks again.

Rex/Suresh and whovere knows about this,
Iam planning to record some old IR songs in CDs in the near future. So any good suggestions on the shops who do this in trichy or madras would help me a lot. If u know about this post here and I shall get in touch with u by mail.

Hi Rex, Suresh,
That was a bold and wonderful decision made by you. This is the need of the hour.
As of now, I too will be removing all links to continous play from my website.
A friend of mine had recently enlightened me about the losses artists and producers undergo because of Net Audio proliferation. You may appreciate Ilaiyaraaja music, but if you do not buy his CDs, he becomes a "not-so-profit-making" Music director!!! If you want better and more Music from Ilaiyaraaja(or any other artist) , you have to encourage them by purchasing their CDs/cassettes. So I request all of you guys to consider songs from all the above sites as only samples and purchase original CDs/Cassettes.
Kumar & Vijay:
Recording 500 songs on 3 CDs does not help in any way!!!! It is only the audio shop guy who makes the money, not the producer/artist!!!

Rex:
I have a suggestion to make. It is definitely a good move to encourage the habit of buying CDs for the songs. But there are some films (like time, dEvathai, nianaivellaam nithya for eg ) in which the BGM and title music have been just excellent. I think you guys can concentrate on uploading these numbers. I am sure that it will just enhance the interest of the BGM fans to watch/ buy more IR movies. This way you can keep your thread active too.
