AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Also; use this thread to discuss this album..

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  the point is an Indian running naked and Indian misbehaving with girls all the time can create a hue and cry only in India that too by media starved politicians.

  true, but the country which has stated to deport the film has raised the eyebrows for me.
  its past 3 weeks now and there is no point in arguing whether the movie got deported or the movie has completed its running period and moved on.
  this point is up for speculation so ppl who want to make news out of everything are trying to tell their own story. thats my point...
  even in the news article that has come up in websites u can see lots of assumptions,may bes , cud haves.
  i am not questioning on whether its running in tamil nadu or not,coz i have been reading articles and i can understand what will be going on over here.
  but the article stating that the movie got banned outside india is debatable.

  in the opening scenes dhanush is seen dashing the girls and telling them " can i ask for once more???" ..
  where did all these ppl, who are making noises over vulgarity in boys go now??? Shankar pannna thappu, asingam, vakkiram.. dhanush panna????
  
  i am not against dhanush or anything.. this is just to drive my point home. if u make the shout against shankar,u r sure to get the spotlight.. try shouting against shakila.. i wud like to see Mr.Krishnaswamy taking out processions in front of theatres running shakila movies..

  "checkout" - are the crowd that goes to see "SHakila" movies and "SHANKAR" movies one and same ???????? May be people ought to equate "SHANKAR" with "SHAKILA" only ???? People expected something good from SHANKAR, and he gave a CRAP - so everyone calls it a CRAP.

  i did tell in the previous posts (too old now, need to go long back) that shankar had hit a new low in boys.there is no doubt as far as that view is concerned. i am not here to debate on that.
  can u tell me y the amount of hue and cry thats going on over Boys even after the 5th week of the movie - SHANKAR..and only him, nothing else.
  
  if u see vulgarity and are hellbent in eradicating them, then ppl shud have stepped forward no matter its shankar or shakila.. shankar might have made the mistake watching thulluvadho ilamai running to packed houses. what in the world do u call it justice, when shankar is held by the scruff of his neck for making boys, but the movies preceding boys (TI)and after it (thiruda thirudi.. though only to a very minimal level - but it has the similar scenes as boys) go scot free???

  i forgot to mention 1 point,
  people calling boys as crap is alright.. but ppl trying to act too smart and get shankar hanged by media sounds crazy.
  if its crap, it will go down the drain in 3 weeks. if its running still, then u can take it as some percentage of population has liked the movie. i believe AM Rathnam is already at loss. i dont think he would like to do the " meesai la mannu ottalai" act by paying the theater owners to make the movie run in empty halls just for the numbers sake.

  No I am a sri lankan tamil residing in the united states, hahaha what were you going to try and turn my words against me and call me a hypocrite too? checkout makes valid points about hypocrisy as you can see ive tried stating them before but it is pretty much useless.
  
  Anyways, does anyone know if the bit songs are going to be released or not?i heard some news that they were going to be released late september or mid october. Waiting for the boys dvd at the moment and for the release of pithamagan and iyarkai

  Dont do mass scale comments "Indians are hyprocrites".. if even 2% are not then we are talking 2% of billion which makes a large quantity. So please dont categorize extensively, this happened earlier with Tamils being called you know what

  You are totally missing the point, just dont pass General comments, if you are angry, it is OK, just point out who is the cause, it is one's own opinion you should respect and not up hold yours as the true. If you wanna ignore, just ignore them otherwise, come out with some facts. Don't categorize everybody as Hyprocrites.. I am an Indian and am proud, Are you?. If you are then try and understand what is the cause..
  
  Sure it is annoying for some politician to take advantage of the situation, dont call every human being in India is a hypocrite.

  Guys
  I just checked movie listings in chennai and BOYS is running in 8 theatres with atleast three shows and it has been four weeks since the movie released. Bottomline is...people who want to see the movie and are not worried public opinion are seeing the movie.
  The same thing happened when Mudalvan was relased and people termed it a flop the very first week. It went on to become a huge grosser and even a bigger hit in Telugu.
  Agreed that Shankar's name is tainted a bit because of BOYS...that is just because people did not expect it from HIM. If this had come from Ramanarayanan or Selvaraghavan...no one would have really cared.
  I find it really amusing...people fighting over an article about BOYS being banned in Australia...common man....Australia is like the US and all crap happens here on TV and cinema...showing clevage and 3rd rated dialogues is nothing new to these countries. I am not sure whether you guys watch movies like American Pie and all that. So just don't waste all your time discussing a stupid news article.

  I am posting here since this thread was dedicated to sankar,selvaragavan etc.
  It was concern with ARR before the movie release. After the movie release the DF moved to
  is boys a good movie or worst movie,
  why shankear copied from selvaragava,
  which better among TI and boys,
  which is running better among boys,kakka kakka,kadal kondein etc...
  
  Look at all the post, it was concern with shankat,opposition from the public,TI,etc.ARR is a least matter in this thread.In that manner I am also posting about my view for the movie.

  i never said that u were posting something irrelevant..coz Morgan Freeman's plackards were highly relevant in that movie!! :-)
