songs have comeout very well.
side A:
ele machi machi--- sung by kamal and udit narayanan. sung very well by kamal, but udit's tamil pronounciation is not impressive ,but maybe it is intentional bcos madhavan is an NRI in this movie. colloquial and catchy. very good road philosophy.
mounamae-- good melody. spb's daughter makes her debut.
naatukuoru--- kamal and others.nice song. a rarity in tamil cinema. a typical song which is often used in theatres and koothu=pattarai. nicely sing by kamal. nice wordings by pralayan
Side B:
Anbae Sivam: sung by kamal and karthik.best song in this album. very, very excellent wordings. a nice, beautiful.sensible song.kudos to vairamuthu.
ele machi machi--- a repeat of the previous song in side A. but it is sung by udit narayanan and tippu. i think the first song in side A was better than this. i doubt this song willl feature in the movie.its just to fill in the album.
poovasam-- sadhana sargam and vijay prakash.
starts off brilliantly. one of the best melodies of recent times.

Maverick
Udhayadha vennila from Priyam -VS
Duet song from film GOlmal *ing Selva -MD Balabharathy
all have traces of Unnodu than intha -Amrakalam song
I should say Golmal by Balabharathy was the first .But Kanmani anbodu from Guna has inspired all these compositions to a large extent.

Guys
Read the review in today's hindu(Riday 17th Jan). It is kudos all the way and says Anbe sivam should do what Panchatrantram and Pammal did not do at the Box office.

What the reviewer from newstodaynet says is ther's no usual masala with many duets and foreign locales and unbelievable fights. According to this reviewer only such movies which would allegedly bring the 'masses' in to the theatres are welcome. I don't think everyone agress with this.

the question is why should be bring atheism, communist ideologies and then mix up comedy ,serious situation ending in confusion.
Since now everybody knows its based on planes, trains and automobiles could have sticked to the original plot just like Thenali
that way it would be more enjoyable instead of boring the audience with ideologies.
I think it will meet the same fate as hey ram.
One more point why Sundar C for direction the movie is full and full kamals work why use a dummy name we all know who has originally directed the movie. ?!! En indha pasangu?
so far in all the interviews its only about madhavan and kamal,Sundar C didnt even get mentioned.

well..you are right. Kamal has this tendency to thrust his views on the viewers(hey ram! etc.) But that is what a story, screen play writer does. To convey his point of view as a story. Where Kamal sometimes fails is that the clarity with which this has to be conveyed and some entertaintment value associated a 'movie' is lost. Also, the way in which anti-capitalist views are conveyed, if it over bearing has the negative effect. The main reasons why hey ram failed is because at times it felt the director was as confused as Saket Ram, besides the multi-lingual dialogues, slow narration and non-catchy songs. The film was percieved to be moving very slow! But the central premise of the story was good in my opinion - the hero comes to believe that Gandhi was a bad thing for India but ultimately understands that violence is what's bad.For this reason, I still think Hey Ram! is a good film.
Sundar.C is a director because, in a film thers a lot of grunt work done. To make sure everything is alright before a shot can be made. Although Kamal might have contributed a lot to the film, Sundar.C is the director. If he was not necessary, I am sure Kamal Haasan would not need him and he would have easily claimed himself to be the director.

Surprised to find such contrasting views from the press. You have Rediff virtually condeming the film and curcifying Kamal and "Hindu" euologizing the film.
I have had reservations with these so called "Film critics". We never get a subjective assesment of the work and its more biased with a narrow view as to what a film ought to be. I personally felt "hey!ram" was a monumental effort. It had one of the best screenplay. Its target audience is a too small for such a grandiose. Having said that a film judged by a film maker can enlighten us with finer aspects of a work. Indian films have a long way to go before reaching any semblance of quality. Media is definetely not helping the cause.

well said anand Mahadevan ...The media does not have the credentials to analyse ..They only write whatthey feel and without much analysis ..Only people like sujatha and others who know about cinema should present reviews.....
This is true even in Hollywood ..Bollywwod ketkava venaam ....

Anand, you said it right. Media is now clogged with film critics and analysts who have no clue about the medium. They just swing wildly between pathetic hero worship and mindless condemnation without any intelligent reasoning, like monkeys swaying between branches- just for their own amusement. Manytimes I find it difficult to differentiate between the opinion of these so called critics and my 8 year old cousin's! And with the proliferation of internet magazines the hoardes of such imbecile 'critic's seem to grow! Rediff is the prime example. They sing praises before a movie is released in a wild way and then come out with a crappy review when it is released. And they have some issue with Kamalhaasan and their reviews of his films have been, to put it mildly, stupid. Wonder what the credentials of these guys are!!

I just came back watching Anbae Sivam in New Jersey. I liked the movie, but not the audience. There is no comedy track in the movie, it is neither a art movie nor a masala movie, nor parallel cinema. Dont need to watch it in theater. Madhavan has acted very well.
No clue why Kamal got it certified before the end of 2002 to send it to National Awards committee. The only possible candidate would be "Madhavan"

I have just come back after watching the movie in Causeway Point, Singapore. The film, I thought, was quite different and very well made. Kamal, as usual, was at his best and Madhavan gave him a very tough competition as far as the acting was concerned, though I thought he could have been given a bigger role. Dont miss the movie at any cost.

Amazing movie, amazing under-played performance by Kamal .... if this movie fails, alas, no wonder the people are crying about filthy movies geting produced these days.
