Remember the Music Director trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the music directors of Kamal Hassan's Alavandhaan. They seem to be missing in the Tamil scene for the last 2 years and they are doing really good in the Hindi field. They have given solid musical hits in Hindi such as; Mission Kashmir, Dil Chahtha Hai. I think they can be brought to the Tamil films again. I feel they are definitely better than Deva and a few others. I think they are the best as far as Hindi Film Music goes after A R Rahman.
I would like healthy comments who listen to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and have a fair knowledge of Hindi Film Industry.

hi ehsaan,
i have been folowing you since mission kashmir, and i think your group rocks. i especially liked dil chahta hai, and deem it as, arguably, one of the best albums in indian industry. although i havent listened to kal ho na ho yet, but i have heard many good things about it. i wanted to know if good knowledge of classical music is necessary to become a composer????

Dear Ehsaan!
Thanx for your quick comments & replies. I really appreciate it.
According to you: "unfortunately we are not particularly fond of Kumar Sanus voice but who knows we may use him some time"
I just want the answer of one question, there is no problem if you are not utilizing this great talented artist known as Kumar Sanu, but why are you using his clones like Babul Supriyo and other new singers who dont even know the M of MUSIC, If your style of music is based on creativeness, Is it what you call modern style film music, I am not criticizing but I am just expressing the truth which i feel, you all have to accept the fact, and you have to answer me. There is no problem working with new talents but appreciation for senior artists who have been working successfully for years is neccessary.
As far as i know you guys have worked with almost every singer i would not like to take any names.
Well i understand that you people are new and really hard working and i really appreciate your efforts but my only suggestion or request to you is that you guys should also create such type of melodic classic songs which should have universal appeal.
Also Sush,
Friend what should i comment on your statements to Kumar Sanu and Nadeem Shravan, Oh well! by reading your statements i am quite sure that you dont like successful people who are doing sincere work in music industry and you even dont like to appreciate them, respecting them is far away.
As far as AR Rahman is concerned, I am his fan too, I have a great respect for this artist. In my opinion Kumar Sanu's only song for AR Rahman "Milgayee Milgayee" from Kabhi Na Kabhi is one the most beautiful compositions i have ever heard, Its just a pure classic melody blend of western and indian intrumentations, one of the best, the music speaks itself. Obove all powerful singing by Kumar Sanu. No Match! I think you have to listen it carefully, I am sure you will appreciate it.
Well I really hope better for this great combo. 2 great talents are really missing! Its a great loss of MUSIC. They should work again. Aamin!
Thanx,
Faizan

just way too awesome when spb sings the difficult part of the charanam. but kumar sanu's nasal is nowhere near to spb's silkening voice. i am sorry to say this.. but is the fact..i am sure majority of talented people will agree.. since u re so devoted to sanu.. i don't to make further comments on this...
excuse me!

hey guys and gals, i havnt heard the song u mentioned and iam sure that it must be a great song but in my opinion, there is just no other present singer to compare with our kumar sanu.this is just a matter of opinions and choices.

Raj, if you can, get a hold of the tamil album Duet or even the hindi album Tu Hi mera Dil, and listen to the song Anjali Anjali, sung by SP Bala.
I am sure you will change your opinion then.

sorry, buddy, my mother tongue is fiji-hindi and i am not sure i would be able to get hold of the hindi album u mentioned but if i got it, i am sure it would not change my opinion because i like soulful and sad songs , especially slow ones like that of kumar sanu songs. u could say that i am an old- fashioned guy, but thats the way it is.anyway, kumar sanu is da best.

Raj...you say you like soulful and sad songs.......I appreciate that and so do I....and SP Bala is probably the King of soulful and sad songs.
Okay let me pose you this question, I am sure you have heard the songs of Sajaan....Jiye to Jiye kaise, buhat pyar karte hai....what did think of SPB's renditions compared to that oF Kumar Sanu.

Dear Friends,
SPB is a great singer when it comes to South India songs. But when it comes to Hindi film songs, he is nowhere near to Kumar Sanu. Saajan is the right example. Though it is an SPB-dominated album, Kumar Sanu steals all the attraction with his two songs, one of which "Meraa Dil Bhee..." which ranks among all time classics. SPB songs are no longer remembered.
Thanks,
Santanu

Dear Ehsaan,
I don't believe that our Kumar Sanu can only sing songs which are melodious. He can sing all type of songs. At least he has proved this in first five years of his career in the indusrty. You may check. So, I wonder why he should not fit into your types of music.
Secondly, I don't believe that if you have to create melody, you will have to repeat the past. If you are creative enough, you don't need any song bank as you mentioned. There are scripts which demand melodious songs.
Thirdly, life is not all about Dance and Masti. There should be some scope for some seriousness. I do not know your age. May be, you will understand that after you cross a certain age.
Best wishes,
Santanu, a well-wisher of Kumar Sanu.

dear karan and sush,
i like spb too, but i wudn'tcompare him to the great sanu da, if i were u. spb has a very south indian accent when he sings, which might not do much harm to south indian songs, but it does mess up north indian songs.
sanu da is a legend at par with rafi , mukesh and kishore, comparisons with singers like spb, vinod rathod and abhijeet etc ended years ago, so i dont want to speculate on this any further either. cheers,

Hi Achal it is necessary to have a knowledge of Indian music to be a composer in the film industry but if you are trained classicaly it does help a lot !!!

I would rather not make any more comments on the whole K.Sanu affair I think it is a subjective thing wether you work with a singer or not. We need something from a singer unfortunately I dont think K. Sanu can deliver that. He has a nice voice but unfortunately modulates his voice in a way which does not suit our sound.
SPB is a great singer and I would not compare anyone with him , his command of his voice his modulation and perefect pitching make him way ahead of many singers. Above all he is a wonderful human being and i think that makes him such a great singer. We hope to work with him sometime.

Santanu if we were not serious about music we would not be into it . The unfortunate thing is that a lot of people who are in the indian film industry musically speaking are not really serious musicians and they get famous !!!!
We compose music for todays people whatever age they maybe.A singer has to appeal to everyone and you dont have to be older to apreciate talent. Rahman was about 20 around the time Roja become a huge hit and everyone old and young were bowled over .Musical maturity has nothing to do with age.
I am really sorry that DANCE and MASTi are not part of your life friend but there a millions out there who love that !!!!!

dear ehsaan,
hey , ur music is really cool, my friends here in birmingham really like playing DCH in the car, as we roam around the city.
but it is a real pity that u don't use sanu da.
i am sure u guys will reach the pinnacle of popularity , if u start using sanu da.
the reason is simple, although the elite classes dont really care who is singing, or indeed if anyone is indeed singing or not, this really does matter for the masses. and when i say 'masses' i am also referring to our middle class, which is the biggest group of people around the world.
i did my MBBS from Bhopal, and now i am a Doctor in Birmingham,so i do know the difference between the two.
Kumar Sanu is a demi-God if u go to the smaller cites, towns and villagers of India. if u go around asking people, u will realize that most people dont know that any other singer exists.
although these people don't buy every cassete, they do record songs, and make 'farmaish ' on the radio, these things do add up to the sales of the cassete, and to popularity on the whole.
even if u look at the MD's like nadeem shravan and himesh reshamiya (sanu preferers), u will notice a clear pattern. the albums in which they choose not to use sanu da, eventually dont do as well as the rest, there are countless examples.
so now u know the secret to success, the country will not change according to u, if u want to become popular across all sections of society, then u will have to change urself with regard to the countrie's preference. and the country's preference is sanu da, the most soul-ful singer ever.
the three of u are very talented indeed, if u use sanu da, i am sure u can reach the number 1 slot .
