AR Rahman's Tamil Blockbuster "BOYS"

Rahman's much anticipated "Boys" is set to release soon and everyone is keen on finding out more about this album. Who are the singers? What are the soundtracks like? When is the release date? Will the album be delayed? If anyone has any idea; please post here....

Also; use this thread to discuss this album..

Here is what i found::

Typical of Shankar, the director is not prepared to say much about the film at this point. However, it is known that the film will be very youthful, almost teeny-bop, in content, with the majority of the cast being in the 16-23 age group.

Shankar, apparently, has decided to cast all new faces in his film – and the younger the better.

In fact, a mention in various Tamil periodicals, and an accompanying advertisement to the effect that Shankar was looking for new faces, has created a headache of sorts for the producers. Curriculums vitae have been pouring in to the Surya Movies post box ever since the ad and the story ran in the vernacular press – and last heard from, the flood shows no signs of abating.

Curiously enough, the ad appears – thanks to emails and discussion groups – to have reached an audience abroad as well, with the result that newer batches of applications have US, British and suchlike stamps on them, which suits the producer and director fine since the film does incorporate a lot of NRI faces.

For Shankar, Boys will be a return to romance after Kadhalan, and to comedy after the Aishwarya Rai-Prashanth starrer Jeans. Though the film will feature fresh – and ergo, inexpensive – faces, Shankar maintains that the film will be typical of his style, which means lavish budgets, and expensive production values.

  well i think boys will be able to survive it seems like its doing fine at the box office.Baba wasn't that great of a movie anyways.Boys if it doesn;t get other people to come to watch itll at least run on the youth. I mean it's still running pretty full is what reports say.

  it is very funny to see how some political elements are trying to gain maximum mileage out of this.
  
  
  It is like a running train and these pimps hang on it to cover maximum distance! they know this train has lots of fuel , good speed and luxury. Ofcourse some negative points too...
  
  It was Sandiyar and now it is Boys. Surely Mani's movies will be targeted. Take this as a prediction .. Mani's movie is a thriller with guns and stuff. So this Krishnasamy fellow will say how can you pollute tamil purism by using guns liberally???

  Aswathama, is it eru kodugal logic! One vulgarity overtakes other one, and lesser one gets kudos! By same token boys may get appreciation from other worst one! If this is about "Girls" the so called forward looking fans will still support the movie??

  just accept it guys...if boys were not successful or at least is not well publicised there will be no stupid politician to bother abt it...
  
  i guess it is successful, that's why every tom and d ick and harry giving comment on it...
  i bet ..all the scenes or vulgar dialogues u r talking abt exist from movie to movie being released by pandiarajan?>..Why no one bothered?..coz it's not a hit movie...

  this is exactly what shankar wants...and he got it....this guy is smart to judge u ppl....

  hi, i'm from Malaysia to. As far as I could see, " Boys " is still running. Most of the films doesn't run more than a week here. i heard that students from kolej are going for the movie more than 10 times.
  in my opinion "Boys" is a great film. it shows the true lifestyle of the teenagers.

  hi i`m from malaysia,
  
  BOYS ia fantastic moviee even it has some sexual elements but it gave a lot of lessons 2 the teens who watch the movies, good comedies ,fantastic music ,it such a modern movie n i`m proud about indian director who direct such amovie........
  
  But there r some useless old man n woman who opposes this movie but i think they will shut up coz boys running like hot cakes here especially the songs.....

  Guys lets not argue abt how many theaters are having crowd and all that.
  
  
  It was plainly said that Baba was a bad film. It deserved to flop.
  
  Boys is promising, but too vulgar and unrefined. It will be interesting to see how it is recieved after the cuts. But is indeed sad that Shankar tried to exploit seamy themes too much IMO.

  I have heard of pushing the envelope, but this...is pushing it to the wrong address. I don't mind if the envelope is mailed to the right address (US). If an obscene package is sent to me who doesn't want it (TN), I am ofcourse going to raise some objection. Some may enjoy the contents of the package, those of us who do not want it would of course be disgusted by it. Then you may say, if you don't like it then don't open it. Its like saying, if koovam mixes with the drinking water supply don't drink the water. If the pollutant is flowing thru my backyard, it is of course my business to do something about it. Many here talk about purist and liberals, its not about purist or liberals. Its about where your values lay, Amercians don't set the standards, we have our own standards and value systems. Boys is nothing but one of those wannabe American films...scanty existence of self-respect or lack of it (scanty jus as in the potrayal of women in boys)

  guys guys hold on......... we are in 2003 and this is how movies are going to be hereafter.......TI,Boys,Kadhal Kondein, and for that matter Kakka Kakka had words like "Madarchod,Bosadike" in it (uncensored).... so we have to accept this trend though i personally prefer subtle description of things and not vulgar.......

  I agree with you to an extant.
  
  But can you surely say that what they have shown in Boys is not true??
  
  
  If your loathing about the movie is genuine then you have astronomical elements in the society to loathe about! Shankar has depicted what is is mostly true. If you feel it is koovam, then I am sorry to say most our teenagers are like that only.

  Sun TV's Suryan FM Chennel is giving 4 tickets of Boys free for those calling and asking for songs/answering questions on the songs telecast. They are asking one simple question, which anybody can answer, and announce that you have won 4 tickets for Boys. Yesterday when one lady came on line, she was asked "Who is the MD of the movie Star?" She answered "AR Rehman" and got 4 tickets of Boys. This way, they are issuing at least 200 to 300 tickets per day. I think Sun TV people are doing good marketing for this film.
  
  Normally, AVM will do this type of marketing, that too after the movie run for 50 days (to make the movie run for 100 days). But, this is the first time this type of marketing is being done for Shankar's movie, that too within two weeks of release of the film.

  The movie is good if the person think in double meaning it is wrong. Especially now days teens must watch the movie. Good job Shankar.
