This Thread is to discuss abt the MElody Queen-
P SUSHEELA.. Who is the Inspiration for may singers... I feel she's the Only singer who dominated.. Rather ruled the TFM for more than 40 yrs.. And even now her voice is Very Sweet(god's Gift)..

  Few people here prefer the voice of PS over LATA for some reason...That does not mean they hate other good singers....I now say LATA in HUM TUM PE MARTHE HOON....in 2000...sounded good...Will you agree....Every thing GOOD also has Life Span...

In the film Rudali,Rakee and Dimple are professional mourning singers and a middle aged sad mourning voice was invented or identified by BH and Kalpana Lajmi...Since you people UP can see DVD get a DVD copy of Rudali, see it and post further....I stand by, by my NONSENSE....TNS

  Sorry, I am not against susheela at all. But it is Mr TNS who is against Lata. Alka Yagnik more versatile than Lata , that's insane. And Lata sounding ghastly in Rudaali -that's also insane.
  In fact, mr TNS should just keep his mouth shut!!!
  We want to discuss the good points of Susheela. Leave Lata alone, she is too good. So lets stop this ugly defamation drive as m krishnan has rightly suggested!!

  I have seen the movie. But Lata's voice sounded just too good. Bhupen Hazarika chose her for that and not because her voice was SO GHASTLY that it fitted the mourner. Listen to 'Jhhooti mooti mitwa' a song based on a Malhar like Raag. Its fabulous. And listen to the song' Samay o dheere chalo' which Lata has so beautifully sung. And 'Dil hum hum kare' is a sensation. Lata has once again shown her unparalleled diction, her deep understanding of the lyrics, and that ineffable music sense. Now wonder BH waited for so long for her to record the song!!!!
  And also, all these 3 songs demand a terrific range, which Lata has displayed.
  Dear Tns, this is all i want to say.
  I TAKE PRIDE IN SAYING THAT SUSHEELA TO IS A FABULOUS, REMARKABLE SINGER WORTHY OF REVERENCE.
  No person in his right senses will ever underestimate her. But that's tryue for Lata too. Lata's voice has become bad,true, but only in the past 3-4 years or so. Not since 20 years, as you say. One more thing, I think it was you who started the Lata criticism on a page that is supposed to highlight the wonderful achievements of Susheela. So dont blame others.

  Also listen to the lata and bhimsen joshi bhajan/semiclassical album. Its done around 1985.
  Listen also to the lata and anup jalota album. That's also around the same time. And to the semiclassicals of raam teri ganga maili,heena, and the two ghazal albums with jagjit singh - sajda and adaa(1992 and 93). the song 'dhuan banake phiza mein gira diya mujh ko' is a treat.
  I'm sure you'll relish those.

  No recent songs as such...But IR recorded few songs with her in early 90s...Pickpocket,Keladikanmani,Chinnakaunder,Aranmanaikili,and couple of Ramarajan films
  Under ARR,she sang for Pudhiyamugam,Duet,Indian andkart
  hickRaja's..Manikkam..
  But she had sung few devotional songs recently where her voice is okay...

  the title of this thread should be changed.
  PS is legendary. But LM,Asha,Janaki do equal her in all respects. So the last part 'whom no one can equalize' is wrong.

  I don't understand one thing: Why did people like Bhupen Hazarika have to wait 6 months or whatever for Lata, when she was actually not at all busy being completely out of the scene? May be she took 6 months to perfect those songs!

Anyway, mine was only an observation of the fact that it has become a fashion for many hindi film MDs to say that he waited for this singer or that singer for 6 months or 8 months to record a song!
