This Thread is to discuss abt the MElody Queen-
P SUSHEELA.. Who is the Inspiration for may singers... I feel she's the Only singer who dominated.. Rather ruled the TFM for more than 40 yrs.. And even now her voice is Very Sweet(god's Gift)..

  TFM forum gets postings from various countries.
  Few of such contributors are ardent fans of PS
  To name few,Karthi,Rajagopal A, TNS,Rajeshkumar,Ahamed etc etc...

  Which lady singer doesn't sing well? I think everybody sings well. Vani jeyaram is a highly underrated singer. I guess All female singers are good in their own way. I can tell bad male singers. Hard to find bad female singers.

  And thro'out my discussion i havent said anywhere that PS isnt great.
  Probably i can discuss (no arguments please) her finer points more than
  all her admirers here.Pick a song like "Unnai kaanatha kannum or Paal polavey" and that speaks volumes of her greatness.
  
  But its just that LATA is too good for any type of comparison.She gives meaning to
  each word in each song.
  I know a music teacher (she is tamilian by the way) who says if u have to understand
  why music is divine listen to Lata.
  I have said all that i had to say to support this, earlier and no intention of
  repeating those again.
  
  Its a request to people like TNS to refrain from saying silly things about an artist
  based on half cooked ideas or based on things unsuccesful people have said.
  Please listen to a singer(if possible,understand the language also) before making false accusations.U dont have to demean other singers just to prove ur point.
  Thread can get dirty if Lata followers read some of the silly things put up here.
  And i dont have to remind how many there are.
  
  Karthik u surely seem to have heard lata.
  I am just surprised about the thing u said about lata not being good at low pitch.
  Particularly b'cos she has good bass.
  Listen to "Aye diley naadaan" for instance.In fact, many songs of her start of
  like that and as i mentioned before she magically makes the transition to very
  high pitches from there.Thats one of the innumerable reasons there is no replacement
  for her.
  
  TNS ask urself if these songs were challenging:
  Muthumanimalai and Kannukku mai azagu.They were good, but certainly not challenging.
  And before commenting anything first check out the songs of Rudali and Lekin
  which were sung by Lata around 60.(Vijay has already mentioned)
  Particulalry "Yara Sili Sili" -its great. New Singers find it difficult to even match this even though she has lot of limitations now.
  
  Lata's only competetion was her age. Its a fact.
  And she has set a standard- a mark no one can reach.
  Lets not try to measure a SCALE.

  Hi Suri, those were words not told by me but Lata herself! "....as I grew old my voice matured and deepened and I started singing in low pitch..." She had infact mentioned a music director and a producer (Raj Kapoor? I don't exactly recall) who forced her to sing in low pitch but she would not budge. Anyway, I still hold what I have to say....Lata may be or probably is the best singer...but Suseela's is the best voice ever to have happened in film world.
  
  FYI, I was mesmerized and moved to tears by many of Lata's songs. Lata's emotion and singing have appalled me. But, it was Suseela's voice that captivated my heart and soul. You may not believe if I said that I am not moved to tears at all hearing Suseela's voice as much as I do hearing Lata's! But, it's Suseela's voice that makes me want to hear and hear and hear again! If you look at the topic, it's about PS' voice - atleast that's how I took it to be - and not her singing! Anyway, opinions differ. Thanks for acknowledging me.

  You know, this is how people started thinking about themselves as the ultimate realisers(after the Shankara's mukthi) and were diluting the advaita principles and tearing it apart left and right. So the incarnation/birth of ramanuja had to happen which says there is one Ultimate paramaathma and other atmaas have to realise it to join with that paramaathma and that is called as mukthi.
  
  And I think this argument is try to find out who is that paramaathma LATA/PS/other :-)

  No one argues here with half cooked informations here I know equally well about LATA as much as you know...
  It was in the year 1984 when she sang for Meenakshi Shesadri...NINDHIYA SE AAYE...one noted the shaky Ghosty tone from LATA...After this till date her voice continuous to be BAD and after HERO, Subash GHAI sitched over to ALKA...
  LATA'S brother managed to get good out of Lata in 1990, in the song Yaara sili sili...mainly in the Pallavi of this song My honest opinion on LEKIN songs are Lata spoilt Gulzars lyrics by her aged voice...YARA...IS A SOLE exemption to some extent
  You know something? MD,Bupen Hazarika,AND director KALPANA LAJMI wanted to re record two songs of LATA for RUDAALI...with Anuradha Poduval....but retained the songs of Lata as the heroine of the film has the profession of singing OPPARI in the death house and sorry to say LATA'S voice at her 66th year of age fitted to the character perfect.
  Once again I admit PS and LATA had excellent voices in their hey days and my preference is PS...as SHE fitted in TFM exactly one wanted her to be then....TNS

  Your remarks on LATA are INSANE, STUPID and TOTALLY BASELESS AND RUMOURED.
  Lata mangeshkar sounded hevenly in Rudaali. Yor thing about Bhupen Hazarika wanting a re-record is totaly your own IDIOTIC invention.
  You know, this is a Susheela forum. So talk only about Susheela, and stop spreading obnoxious rumours about Lata. All the songs of Lekin are lovely. Yara Sili sili show her great range. Even Kesariya and sunio ji are fantastic. Even her songs in Maachis,Godmother,Saagar,Raam Lakhan (there's a thumri) are divine. You havent heard of her 2 ghazal albums with Jagjit Singh. She sounded as good as he did. And you also did not
  hear her album 'Mere vatan ke logo' where she has re-sung her original Vande Mataram.
  As far as I have read, Bhupen Hazarika waited for 6 months for Lata to come and record the songs of Rudaali. Those songs could not have been sung by a low-grade singer like Anuradha Paudwal.
  So stop this defamation driv, and stop throwing around FOOLISH word

  I have susheela sing the Telugu versions of 'Naina barse' and 'khilte hain gul yahaan'
  as well as 'rasme ulfat'
  Lata wins easily. She sounds very sweet in all the 3 octaves, her voice is in fact above 3 octaves.

  I'm sorry. That was all meant for mr TNS. Nut its true - word for word. Since this is a tfm page, lets all praise the worthy ps. But mind you, praising PS does not mean criticsing Lata.
  She's a real legend. Even Asha compares her sister to Tansen. She has several times said that the world has no one even near ( forget equal to) Lata. In any case, if somebody disagrees to this, there are more graceful ways of doing so. And if anybody says that the Lekin and Rudaali songs were badly sung by Lata, it means the person has no music sense or is prejudiced!!!!!!!
