S. J. SURYAH'S HOLD over the Tamil box-office is simply amazing. Four years after the release of "Kushi", a blockbuster, the director has turned hero with "New". The film has taken a fantastic opening all over Tamil Nadu to the surprise of the trade, as two months back, its bilingual in Telugu ("Naani") went without a trace. This in fact created distribution problems for "New", and later, the regional censor board also effected major visual and dialogue cuts. But Surya was optimistic and went ahead to release the film in 117 screens in Tamil Nadu where the opening day collection crossed Rs. 1 crore! Said Surya: "`New' is turning out to be a mega hit and the very same industry pundits who had written off the film before its release are saying that it will do better business than `Ghillli'."

  sumathy once upon a time girls are not eve allowed to dress anything other tha churidhar or pavadai thavani....but now...jeans....tube tops...body huggin's and other stuff made it's way...and we accepted it slowly..but surely...
  same is the issue here...
  
  the film didn't potray anything bad...(i haven't watch though)........it's merely a "WHAT IF" movie....in the first place...no professor's like manivanna gonna exist (that too in the coutry where Abdul Kalam is!), secondly..he's not gonna create a medicine to stimulate growth in such a manner....thirdly he's not going create a potion which is suppose to cure but the made the guy BOY in day time and MAN in night time....
  it's all..."what if"....and it's fantasy.....
  
  i dunno why for 10 - 15 minutes of shots in BOYS made the whole 2 hours 30 minutes movie a bad movie....
  not sure of the ratio on NEW ...so i will watch it b4...commenting on it...
  
  and I'm not a pervert in case u suspect!..he he he :)...

  I saw[couldn't help it] thre 'vimarsanam' on sun tv [in US] AND MADE MY CONCLUSIONS ON THAT FEW SCENES ALONE AND iWILL NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE EVEN IN DVD!!

  OK.. I watched AE on May 22 aft rel May 20 as premier (couldnt go..not allowed to public)
  NEW rel here on Jul 10 midnite.. still havent watch yet due to circumstances..n i wld really love to watch it.. bt looks like by the time i cld watch it - it wld be the vcd....
  After watching part 1 on the net (dnt worry its only 30 mins) i decided not to watch it in pirated means, nothing dirty AND I KNOW YOU GUYS will come saying the rest of the movie is filled with xxx stuff.. I TOTALLY DISAGREE coz i know the movie outline - juz need to watch it. Ganga was banned for nudity u know (an 80's tamil movie) New isn't showing any MEAN GIRLS lesb kissing. And Im no perv. Such a dir like SJS doesnt go around portraying JUST obscene stuff

  OHG,u guys r acting,hey man,what does cinema means to u ??Cinema means ENTERTAIMENT my dear frends,its either u laugh when u watch a movie,or either u cry!when they show u real life show,u say its boring,when they show u a comedy movie,u say this is not good lah,this is vulgar lah,its so anoying do u know that,i recommend u guys to watch Pasamalar or something else,hey,i feel NEW is something funny,if u take the vulgar stuff in a different way,y must all watch it in a negative way?enjoy the movie man,im not sure what is making u guys condemning New & Boys,is it bcoz ARRahman is in it???get a life man,eventhough i condemn Hj,i still do watch the movies he composes and still enjoy them...just take cinema as a entertaiment and nothing more..if u show the same effort u finding faults in movie in ur life,u will be somewhere someone now...i still say,NEW movie is enjoyable!

  i think i wanna watch NEW very soon...saw the sirappu kannottam in Sun TV the other day..and i kinda liked Surya's acting...and his voice...he wasn't over acting...and was not under acting...he justified his role...(based on what i saw...obviously..they show only the best scene in Sirappu Kannottam)...

  I saw the movie today,frankly i felt SJS did not have faith in his own abilities.The spark&passion that was seen in Vaali was missing.There was a simmering sexuality in Vaali which added to the charm of the movie while in New it was flat&vulgar.The plot has great potential but somewhere SJS has compromised i don't know why.A guy like him has the capability to make interesting&hit movies without a Mumtaz(Kushi),Kiran(New)&double meaning dialogues.I don't have any problems with risque adult comedies provided the director is sure of what he is doing ,here SJS is confused.His acting as a child in a man's body was good but his dances&attempts to be romantic&sexy was pathetic.I believe he should stick to direction.Simran sizzled all the way&Kiran was a big waste.ARR's two songs(Kalayil Dhinamum,Sakkare Innikare)was good&the others very average.This movie does not really need any hard work in terms of BGM.Overall i felt the movie had an interesting plot&a director to do a great job at execution but it has all gone wrong.

  I would like to find out the name of the film in which a song goes like
  En Manam Karai Purandu Sellum..Thenum Aarum Serinthuvital..Nandhavanam sang by some lady and Krishnaraj..

  i jus watch the movie and it was excellent... infact the movie suits the title... it was new... even though the new as a seed of big. nice comedy... i gurantee u will walk out the theatre with a big smile... dun watch it from downloads... they cut LOTTTTSSSS of scene and u won understand the movie... go theatre and watch... i'm not tryin to make new a hit movie by askin u'll to watch(it's already a hit) THINK SHOULD BE SEEN FROM WHERE IT SHOULD BE!

  Paran,
  that indeed was a scene which got a lot of response from the frontbenchers but by telling that there is nothing wrong if a guy cheats on his wife when she is pregnant&that all males are like that,SJS is setting a wrong precedent.Now you can argue as to how many people get influenced by cinema but still it not's good to condone wrong acts.
