As written, the song is an appealing song. Mukta' Srinivasan is loyal to Sivaji like Balaji ( as per his writings in Tuglak). He has produced number of good movies with him like Arunodhayama, Anadhaman Kadali, Nirakudam and Tavaputhalvan. His MDs were usually V kumar and MSV. His movies have free flow of scenotios without any director's interfearnce. Mukta srnivasan always has a better script for his picture. That is his strength. Of course. Sivaji will be having more freedom to act according to his wish resulting some overacting also.
The day (July 21)is important one for the Tamil movie fans, especially Sivaji's fan. may be Sivaji's off beat movies like Puthiya Paravai, antha nal, Padithal mattum pothuma, Sabahsh meena, Kalvanin Kadali, Koondu kili, sumati en sundari and Tuli visham will be remembered ever to appreciate his fresh approach to the character that he played.

>>>>malligaip poochcharam manjaLin mOhanam’ (PS/VJ)<<
In some other thread, I had once mentioned that this song is very unique! A would -be mother- in -law and a would- be daughter- in- law addressing each other!
' maattup peN aavEnO? ungaL veettupp peN aavEnO?'
' maattup peN neethaaNdee! engaL veettupp peN neethaaNdee!'

Vanamennum veedhiyilae -- Lovely number by Devarajan. Focused prelude and interludes, that are wholly in line with the general mood of the song, make for great listening. Very down to earth music, shorn of needless/extravagant orchestra, nicely supports the song, which, on the whole, seems to be a depiction of poignant love between the two protagonists.
Pareetchaikku Neramachu -- Nice write-up by Saravanan. Nice list of great MSV-PJ songs by him. Good song by MSV, this particular SOTD, although not an earthshaking one by him, IMO.

Song of the Day: thaNNilavu thEniRaikka from padiththaal mattum pOdhumaa.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/thannilavu.rm
- One of my favorite P.Suseela solos. Music by Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy. The pallavi itself is such a poetic treat.
- sk wrote this earlier:
Mayavanathan wrote this beautiful song in the movie, padiththAl mattum pOdhumA..
thaNNilavu thEniRaikka thAzhai madal neer theLikka
kannimagaL nadaipayindru vandhAL - iLam
kAdhalanaik kaNdu nANi nindrAL
It seems when this song came, people felt.. 'Ah here is someone to compete with Kannadhasan!' But he did not make great impression in his other songs. Some of his best songs are:
niththam niththam mARugindradheththanaiyO
kavalaigaL kidakkattum maRandhuvidu
idhazh mottu virindhida muththu viLaindhidum
chiththirap peNpAvai
kAvirip peNNE vAzhga, undhan kAdhalan chOzha
vEndhanum vAzhga
azhaguu radham poRakkum adhu asainju asainju nadakkum
- Complete lyrics in our PPP page: http://www.newtfmpage.com/ppp/thannilavu.html
- nallavan enakku naanE nallavan from the same movie was featured earlier: http://www.dhool.com/sotd2/419.html . You can find quite a bit of discussion on the movie and on Mayavanathan here.

Padithal Mattum Podhuma
- Sivaji,Balaji,Savithiri,Rajasulochana,Kannamaba starrer is a story b/t brothers. Brothers had such intimacy to see girl for other.
they describe that in a song seq(Pon ondru by TMS,PBS- an Amazing Song!!)
Coming to SOTD, this is a wonderful song by P.Suseela and b'ful lyrics by Mayavanathan. This guy didnt have a long term in TFM.
Whatever songs he had written are samples for this talent.

yet another GEM from PS-MSV-TKR combo!!

This movie is adopted from a Bengali novel. Bhimsingh and Sivaji combination, most of the stories are imported from Bengali novels like Pachai Vilakku, Padikkatah Methai, and Padukappu etc.
In this movie, there is a complication in the marriages of brothers, due to Balaji. Brothers will see the would- be brides for their brothers. However Balaji, as an intellectual crook, plays the trick to marry Savitri. This will have a big problem with Sivaji and Rajasulochana couple. In the end, Sivaji accidentally kills Balaji.
PS songs for Savitri are always charming. In the olden days, P.Leela and MS. Rajeswari used to sing for her in Tamil. Of course in Telugu, mostly by PS. I think PS voice suits more to Savitri, after B. Saroja Devi. In this movie, Savitri sings in the morning as the lovable and Mangalamana housewife. After this movie, actually the climax will start in A. Bhimsingh way. Finally she will become a widow. In this multistars movie, this song is allotted for Savitri and she used fully. Tulsi, Banana tree, deepam, early morning sun, eerak kunthal and charming husband add more effect to the song.
Once again superb melody from VR and PS solo.

I don't remember this movie that well, but isn't the song sung by a girl in love and waiting to get married?

Song of the Day: kaadu thirandhu from Vasool Raja MBBS.
http://www.newtfmpage.com/cgi-bin/stream.pl?url=http://www.dhool.com/sotd/kaaduthi.rm
- Sung by Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam. Music by Bharatwaj. Lyrics by Vairamuthu.
- Vasool Raja MBBS is Kamalhasan's latest comedy, based on the Hindi hit film Munna Bhai MBBS. The film stars Sneha, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Nagesh and others. The dialogues are by Crazy Mohan, so it promises to be a laugh-riot. It seems Kamal completed this film in record time. It is good in a way; Kamal will pocket the crores of rupees and go on to his next serious project. Meanwhile, let us wait for this film with at least a hundred jokes on doctors to release :) Vasool Raja MBBS is the title for now till the Doctors' association becomes successful in its quest to get the film to be renamed. Next thing we know, a self-appointed association of ex-maharajas will say that the film title is offensive to kings!
I liked today's SOTD and 'alwarpettai aaNdavaa' from the album. It is good to listen to Hariharan's voice after a while. Bharatwaj's has also used the famous 'english note' in this song.
There is a rap song called 'Sakalakalaa doctor doctor' that has very funny lyrics, including 'M to the B to the B to the S' :) I guess 'B to the A to the B to the A' was considered to be a hit!
I never understood why Munnabhai MBBS was a hit in the first place. I didn't find the movie to be very funny; The movie took a U-turn in the middle and went off aping 'Patch Adams'. I hope Kamal drops the sentiment scenes and keeps the movie a comedy to the very end.
