One more latest!
Due to Kannada film council and artists' unjust demands, shooting is being shifted to Andhra!!

Another scoop!
Simran, it seems was not pregnant and that was not the reason for her ouster. It appears that it is the other way around!
Simran was not pleased with the way the director wanted her to "show-off' her glamour, immediately following her NEW role!
So, she opted out of the movie and the fact that she was not cast opposite to rajini is another factor!

‘Chandramukhi’ –First sale!
By Moviebuzz
Saturday, 20 November , 2004, 16:15
The first sale of Rajnikanth’s Chandramukhi was signed last week for Coimbatore-Nilgiris area for a record Rs 2.25 Crore!
Normally this area fetches Rs 80 to 1 Crore for a Vijay or Vikram film. Recently Vijay’s Madurae was sold for Rs 1.05 Crore including 20 prints and Kamal’s Vasoolraja MBBS went for Rs One Crore including 20 prints.
So Chandramukhi being sold for Rs 2.25 Crore is indeed a whopping amount. Remember Baba was sold for Rs 1.50 Crore and subsequently Rajnikanth had to compensate the distributors their losses.
The trade feels that this new price is ridiculous and the highest collecting film in this area so far is Rajnikanth’s Padayappa five years back when it collected Rs 2.40 Crore in six months. Vijay’s Ghillli had collected Rs 2.05 Crore from the same area.
The men taking this risk are Tirupur Balu and Seenu who got into distribution only two years back. Tirupur Balu is also the owner of Cinepark theatre in Tirupur and the duo plans to release the film with a record 30 prints. They are likely to get Rs 6 to 8 Lakhs as Minimum Guarantee (MG) from each print from the theaters and are confident about getting their money back .
However the Tamil film trade feels that Balu and his arithmetic may not work as main stations may object if nearly smaller stations are given release status.

I dont understand how this movie could be sold for suchhigh price. Besides Rajini himself, it was his political leanings and suspense around his seemingly imminent political entrance that added to the allure of his last few movies, eversince Muthu and elevated them to super duper hits. Now, its a quiet scene, noone cares for Rajini's political aspirations or opinions, he has grown old, his image as a tamil cinema power center has been fairly destabilized by Vijaykanth, and for the first time in more than a decade is acting in a movie that doesnt have the hero's name in title and apparently a story that might or might not work. It is hara-kiri to bet high on this dark horse. Might pay off big, but post prolly will be just an average hit.

Rajini is the highest paid hero in India. I read somewhere that for Chandramuki, he is getting around 20 crores plus distribution rights for andhra, karnataka and japan... how about that?

Cho,
Thanks for the reply, 20 Crores, then would mean, Rs 200,000,000 right?, that is £2.5 Million right, provided £1=Rs80.
So how much is SRK (Sharuk) is getting paid?

Neruppu,
Don't balme Rajni sir's for his political problems, like Cho sir said, it is his lunatic fans who want him to do what ever they want, it looks like Rajni sir's fans have control over him, rather than he control him self :((

Rajini is desperate to have a BIG HIT. He has become a tamed tiger just to make his movie successful.

Rajini AND IS desperate FOR WHAT????
HAHAHAHA
If that is so, he will have do shoot films at Ashrams, religious place and at Himalaya jungles, so that he can meditate when ever he loses his peace of mind.

Rajini's business-wise move to keep his movie out of potential trouble is going to backfire on him. There is not much attraction to his movie now. He is just another actor. Vikram's movie could trounce chandramukhi rather easily. Rajini's mysterious silence, though irritating and annoying, was more rewarding than this foolish "openness".

Rajini looks old and tired. He should follow Amitabh's suite of playing Vikram's dad, Dhanush Father-in-Law, Simbu's Uncle (not like the person who owns a cycle shop)etc with more importance in the role would help his career big way. Sivaji did it now it is Rajini's turn. IMHO

Vazhipokan,
I agree, but certainly not in jokers films like Danush / Simbu, come on man!
But his fans will never accept that, by the way Big B plays a hero role as well, he does sings duet as well :))

looks like trouble in la la land..
after all that time and wait why did rajini have to rush thus with an old timer director and then have doubts. He used to have good judgement.
