Melody Queen of South Indian Film MUsic - Is it Janaki or Susheela or Vani or Chitra?

Who can be conferred as the Melody Queen of South Indian FIlm Music .
Is it S.Janaki or P.Susheela or Chitra or Vani Jayram..?
I think Janaki is the best of all and she should be conferred as the Melody Queen of South Indian Music

  Pranav, In casette these two Koti Pallavi and Edho Adhu songs are sung by chitra but the truth is these two songs are originally sung byd SJ. I have both the songs.KANNAMUCHHALE....
  Pranav dont waste the time to argue with them about SJ becoz they are always comparing them with no. of songs, and now they are talking about their salaries, I think that is not our headache. We need only good songs that we already had.
  Mr Kalai, MD's are always chose SJ becoz of her voice expression and her talent etc.etc..not non availability of PS or to say her non availability was a varam fro us becoz we already got bored to hear her voice in tamil and takka dimmi telugu songs also. So we need fresh voice like mSJ. Kannadigaru always thankful to all MD's who gave lodt of their good compositions to SJ(and thanks to IR too). Your statement:All Puttanna Kanagals movie songs are sung by PS, that is your statement. Yes she has sung all the songs only few movies but after 'BelliModa' PS always share the songs with SJ and after that PS was sung only one of two songs in PK's movies. I told you before in 'Edkallu Guddada Mele' only two songs are sung by PS and all the three songs are sung by SJ(even PS's availability PK and VB chose SJ for those lgood songs? why?) 'Uppasane' SJ dominates, 'Dharmasere' again SJ(especially Mooka Hakkiyu Haaduthide, duet with SPB) and 'Ranganaayaki' 'Runamuktalu'again VH chose SJ. And you guys are always talking about her Nilakayudhe, or Ponmeni Urugudhe songs (I really Love seductive kind of songs in her voice) I think god has given that kind of talent to her. Even she can sing like 'Shiva Shiva Ennada' and 'Singaravelane Deva' kind of classical based song and also she can sing Ponmeni Urugudhe king of Sfdexy songs. That is called talent.I think this is bitter for PS fans. And no one in the industry complained against PS "She suppressed me, or she spoiled my career" no body in south. Even SJ always encouraged the youn gersters like Chitra and Sujatha. Even SJ has sung and share some songs with chitra also ex:'Belli Kaalungura'.And you believe PS has given no. of songs before joining the group of MSV, this is applicable to SJ also. Even SJ has given no. of songs in Kannada and Malayalam before joining the group of IR. Dont get desperated, stop talking about their personal matters. You love PS voice I know but try to give respect to other artists too.
  And about Melody Queen: You told PS can sing any kind of songs, no way. Sfdhe can fit particular type of songs like duets and solos. She cannot sing seductive type of songs, thatswhy all this type of songs are sung by SJ only. PS voice never match seductive type of songs I heard her Endendigoo in Kannada there is no such seductivity in her song. May be she tried but she cant.
  Chitras entry was 1985, she has sung very less songs and after 1995 chitra and Majula Gururaj has taken.
  Again in mention "everybody knows what kind of songs SJ was singing" what do you mean by that everybody knows how SJ has sung in front of mike. She didnt even raise her head only her voice has given such a big expression really amazing. Artist means she can sing or she can convert her voice any type of songs be it classical or Caberet. So what kind of artist PS was. She can sing only one type of song. Anybody can sing that kind songs who had a good voice. Dont make such statements.
  Whatever you want you can write it but the truth is SJ IS WAS NO 1 IN KARANATAKA.
  
  Anyways thanks for the PS's songs. I have allmost all the songs collection of PBS. I do Kitturuchennamma songs too. I dont understand which song you are looking for. Please give the details.

  This is wrong to pass a comment on PS like this and totally degrading the telugu songs as Takka Dimmi songs.. I guess this is totally unfair. The latter part of the statement hurts many people. Please note that IR has achieved 2 of the 3 national awards through telugu movies only...
  Nobody denies SJ is Number 1 in KFM ... I clearly remember reading your posting (in one of the old archives) mentioning PS was number 1 till late 1960s and SJ becoming number from 1970s. This must be definitely true given that you are a staunch admirer of SJ.. SJ is number 1 from 1970s to 1990s in KFM (as per as my knowledge of KFM goes)..
  
  This topic is about SFM for which PS is front runner followed by SJ.
  
  Pranav - saying PS's voice is sweet but not melodious is a contradicting statement. Please define the Sweetness and Melody..

  Passing these kind of comments, especially without much knowledge in the field, is not at all appreciated. It hurts so many people. It has become a fashion for every other person to comment nastily about telugu songs calling them takka dimmi and gulti dance numbers etc. It is important to clean up your backyard first before you go around cleaning up your neighbors'. There are plenty of such numbers in KFM and TFM too. There are so many more lovely numbers in telugu and I suppose I don't need to sit down and convince you guys about that. Wow, such a hypocrisy!!

  Kaumidi - i agree with you that it has become a fashion to comment nastily about Telugu songs.. People should understand Shankarabhranam is the movie which is dubbed into Tamil/Mal with songs being in Telugu. Which other movie has this credit? People should listen to KVM-KViswanath, IR-KViswanath, S Rajeswara rao, Pendyala, Ghantasala apart from many others like Rajan-Nagendra, Ramesh Naidu, Satyam, Keeravani, RP before commenting (some of the MDs may have had their average songs share too - which is true with any MD)... Is there a movie like Meghasandesham where the songs written by a "Bhava Kavi"(Devulapalli) are taken and tuned with so much of meaning. To promote one artist, making remarks against the whole language is totally uncalled for.

  Telugu siblings, I really sorry to say like that. But when I was in Chintaamani(kolar dist.)I heard and saw lot of songs under different MD's are making lot of this type of songs in lot of movies. My uncle always used to take me some telugu movies especially NTR and RNR movies( the heroins are Jayaprada and Sridevi). I really sorry to say about those songs. I dont have any intention to hurt anybody. Even I have lot of good Telugu songs collections like:
  Pagale Vennela MD S.Rajeshwara Rao
  Nee Divilo Virisina MD satyam
  Nee Kougililo MD ..do..
  Okamaatundi again MD satyam
  NeeliMeghalalo MD Pendyala
  Chilakallori
  Sirimalle Poovalle
  Ea Dhuryodhana
  Paravallu (all the three songs MD CDhkravarthi)
  Ea veena MD Pendyala
  Abhinava Shashirekha MD Chakravarthi
  Nede and Neekela both the songs are composed by S.Hanumantha Rao
  Tolisaari and Manasa songs composed by Ramesh Naidu.
  I am having all IR Telugu songs including Edukondala Swaami and Enni Janmalaina duet song.
  And lot of Keeravani's compositions, Rajan-Nagendras compositions with me. Without listen any music I am not going to comment anything. And never ever forget those beautiful telugu songs in the movies like 'Shankarabharanam'
  'Saptapadi' 'Swatimutyam' 'Swarnakamalam' 'Shrtilayalu' and 'Saagarasangamam' etc.etc,.
  
  Guest I never mention anywhere PS was no.1 in till late 60's. May be before 60's becoz I have very good collections of SJ's 60's kannada songs. If you want the list of her 60's songs give your email ID, I definetely send the list of those songs.

  I did not want to write in this thread but thought I will just interfere this once. You have many a times degraded SJ making remarks similar to "No one can forget what kind of songs SJ was singing." With due respects to you, I should tell you that PS has sung the most number of insipid Telugu songs during 70s and early 80s, even for actresses like Jayamalini and Jyothilaxmi. That was the period when music and lyrics were at its worst until IR came and cleaned up the mess. Any regular TelFM follower would know this. You should consider yourself fortunate if you don't understand the wordings of those PS songs:-) It's full of pure stupidity and shamelessness at its best. PS has sung many "that" kind of songs:-) I have heard/seen quite many of those. Just that SJ has sung them more effectively, much better than PS, which is why we probably remember SJ's but forget PS's. IMO, when it somes to versatility SJ is at the top.
  
  If your intention was to put down SJ (rather than praising PS), then I would say that SJ is purity personified. Nothing less. And having heard many characterless songs of PS in TelFM, I would rather not comment on her/her songs in a futile attempt at sanitizing them:-)

  THIS IS SHEER STUPIDITY!
  
  Ilayaraja and S. Janaki combined took film music to the lowest of low with obscenity in lyrics, singing and music.
  It was IR who made parents and elders cringe at Film songs and many children have been whacked for daring to sing his dirty songs.
  Only after IR was wiped away from the scene, has some respectability been restored in film songs.

  S Janaki and obscenity in singing! Probably a list of Janaki's bhajans, soulful and classical songs might try to prove something here. :-)
  
  I am not going to support some of the wild remarks on P Susheela, but let me point out this one thing: some people here have been a bit too unfair on SJ. And that goes quite beyond the limits of tolerance. The whole ugly discussion started with someone saying SJ would have been a nobody in SFM were it not for Ilayaraaja (which is certainly not true as Meera's and Pranav's posts prove amply!). Fans that they are, they too retaliated with some remarks against PS, and then its one whole infinite loop :-)
