Hi friends,
Most of the ragas discussed here are in my opinion wrong. Without knowing fully about ragas and film songs, pl. don't try to attempt anything.This is a TMS page and let us confine ourselves to good TMS classical tunes, not only his film songs but also his own composed devotional songs. Most of the devotional songs composed by him are immortal melodies. And anybody interested in the TMS songs of 1950s and early 60s can start a new page so that many of his mellifluous melodies belong to that period only. Pl. consider. Saravanan, can you please doit?

It is good to have one web page dedicated for TMS. I can provide my mp3 files for contribution.
I have atleast about 300 TMS songs.

i have a (fairly) good quality vaNakkam palamuRai chonnEn. I dont have a good player to upload it. if anyone (bb, kiru, ...) is ready to do it, i can mail the cassette. the cassette also has one of my alltime favorite movies, pATTum bharathamum.

Sk I dont have that mp3 file. May be if Arul's cassette can be used to code the song using mp3 encoder that would be better.

Thanks for the courtesy. Please start a fresh TMS page at once. Pl. note that page must be devoted to only TMS songs of 1950s and early 1960s only, i.e. upto 1963. Okay? I am seeking your help in this regard.

I had posted some of my fav. TMS songs in some other thread. Would appreciate if someone can tell me the ragas of the songs. And let this thread on TMS be a permanent one like the one on PS. These two are truly the legends of TFM along with VR and Kannadasan.

Suddenly this thread is silent. Can we restart the debate over TMS's songs. As far as I am concerned I will list some great duets sung by TMS, not with PS as everyone is aware, but with Jikki.

Saravanan, thanks a lot... thats been my favourite song since i heard it in radio recently... simple but superb wordings....i heard that it was by KaMU.Sheriff? Which movie is it from and who was the MD and other artistes?

And is it true that the masterpiece "Paattum naaney" from Thiruvilayaadal was written by him and not KKD?

And one more request for lyrics... Can I get the lyrics and the info (lyricist, movie name, actors)for the song "Ninaindhu ninaindhu nenjam urugudhey" ? This song too I heard it in the radio and I really love the way TMS goes "Naan adaindha selvam kollai ponadhey".... WHAT AN EXPRESSION...!!!!

Vj, yes this song was written by Ka.Mu.Sheriff. (Naan Petra Selvam/Paragon Pictures/1956/G.Ramanathan/ Sivaji/ G.Varalakshmi)

I remember reading about a controversy regarding the lyricist of 'Paattum naane', but it was definitely written by Kannadasan.

'Ninaindhu ninaindhu' is an equally memorable song (and strangely enough, I too tend to mentally bunch together 'Vaazhndhaalum yesum '& 'Ninaindhu ninaindhu'!)

unai ninaindhu ninaindhu nenjam urugudhae
neengidaatha thunbam perugudhae

anaindha deepamaai aagipponadhae
udaindhu pona silai aanathe

I am not sure about the actors. I know Bhanumathi must have acted in it, as she has sung a song (Pongi varum pudhu nilave) in Sadhaaram. Perhaps Gemini Ganesh was the hero.

Btw, am not in India, but near enough- in the U.A.E., and I was just going to sleep when I noticed your post :)

Gemini Ganesan was the hero and Bhanumathi was the heroine. I think, Balayya played the villain.

Hi all,

What a superb duo of songs sung solo by the incompable TMS. Somewhere in this website I am reading some stupid remarks that his voice is nasal. Have not heard any worse crap than this. His voice has that 'gambheeram' which is absent nowadays. And the way he sings the words enhances the Tamil language. TMS and PS are easily the two best singers of TFM. I have no doubt just as Mohd Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar are in the HFM.
