1.The 'Yuhi chaala ' song from swades was orginally composed for Lagaan .
2.Harris Jeyaraj worked with him only for 2 films !!
3.On today's music -
"What is today's Tamil film music all about? They are nothing more than fast numbers or remix downloaded. What took me weeks to make music for a "Gentleman" or "Rangeela" can be done today if you have a computer, software and then pre-set the rhythms and you have a disco number! Fast music is no big deal today as anyone can become a music director"
4.Rajiv Menon film in tamizh .

In my post above read:

" don't think raaga and cinesouth exactly reflects the market trend here."
No offence, but I'm not too surprised to hear you say this. This is a common gambit in debates. First you're urged to reveal your sources. Then you attack said sources.
Which is why I already said let's wait for the end-of-year audio charts. You can have more fun then tearing up those figures, I promise.

Observer,
You seem be attempting to end with a flourish every time you post something. It would be nice if you just stick with the topic at hand. If you read your post again, you will find out how annoying it is.
"ARR did bring something new in. So are HJ/VS/YSR and Vishal-Shekhar(Musafir) or Amar Mohile(Naach) and so on."
Can you elaborate on what you think ARR did which was new. And how you think HJ is different from ARR. Because, after reading your post I dont think you really have an inkling of idea about what you are talking about...

Please.....
Let us not ask him anything more. He will come up with some more junk. I seriously doubt whether Mr.Observer believes what he writes.
Mr. Observer, please do not respond to dude/vijay or me. Please give us a break.

Genesis:

Once again, no offense, but Genesis, I can see you aching to have this debate fall along the usual IR-vs-ARR lines. Then you'll be comfortable. That's known and predictable, if thoroughly beaten-to-death, territory.
Sorry to disappoint you. I believe it's time to acknowledge and accept the complexity and multiplicity that we see in real life.
I suppose worshipping one or the other composer offers some refuge against the threatening demands of real-life complexity, decisions about likes or dislikes become a lot simpler. Everything by your composer is good, everything else is bad. The negative side of this idolatry is that you've to spend all your waking life battling against fans of composers from previous generations, and fans of composers from the next generation.
I don't know why people won't abandon these futile battles, embrace diversity, and recognize that music from all generations is worthy of our attention, love and interest.

Genesis, I bear no ill-will towards you, or anyone else. I can understand that debaters can get exhausted, or run out of patience for various reasons. That is why I encouraged anyone to pull out any time.
I'll go on upto the point that I see only disinterested/abusive participants.

Observer,
"I don't know why people won't abandon these futile battles, embrace diversity, and recognize that music from all generations is worthy of our attention, love and interest. "
Just one question - are u stupid, or trying your best to act like one ? Bcos you yourself are contracdicting what you said above. Every music director have their own strengths and weaknesses. There is nobody like a 100 % perfect person. So as per your own words, why dont you accept the fact the whoever your favourite MD is, he/she also has strengths and weakness and accept the fact and go ahead with your life.
If you still havent understood this, then i dont know what is sounding the metal detector in your case - whether it is the sh&t in your head or the lead in your ass.

Dude:
"Can you elaborate on what you think ARR did which was new. And how you think HJ is different from ARR. Because, after reading your post I dont think you really have an inkling of idea about what you are talking about... "
Unfortunately, this is a loaded question. I've two ways of handling this. I can spend enormous amounts of time and energy erecting my cases for what's new or what's different, as you sit back and take potshots at each point as I bring it up. Now to me it seems that this way I'm shouldering an unfair proportion of the load.
The second way is that I propose one point at a time, and you have to come back with one point of your own that I can contest. I prefer this approach and shall adopt this if you don't mind.
I'll start with how HJ innovated in Uyirin Uyire, where ARR was behind the curve. HJ used arpeggiators for the first time in TFM in that song. ARR used it later, to an extent in Sa Re Ga from Boys, then in Hey Goodbye Nanba from AE. When the music reviewer from The Hindu claimed that ARR had copied HJ, ARR-fans were apoplectic with rage. Even if ARR had not copied HJ, he was certainly caught looking very uncool there for a moment. I say this despite the fact that I consider Boys to be his most advanced album till date, and AE to be very close behind.
Now give me one point why HJ is NO different from ARR, and let me contest that. Don't point to some similar interludes and the like. Some of ARR's interludes also resemble interludes from IR and MSV etc. Tell me why HJ has brought NOTHING to the table.

This is both pathetic and hilarious. No matter how many times I say I HAVE NO FAVORITE COMPOSER, I see people helplessly listing towards known paradigms of forum-behaviour. Namely, pick a favorite, then battle till the end of your life with everyone else.
Btw, abuse is poor form. Not worthy of a true debater.

u are not even a good debater.u arent even lookin at both sides so i dont see what ur tryin to do.the only persons u have acknowledged as worthy were the ones who have agreed with u.this shows how ignorant and closed minded u are.

Well, you haven't shown any sources for your KR-as-ghost-composer assertion. However, I didn't take you to task for it. Someone else, I think Nattamai, did. I did present sources for my sales assertions, I also pointed you to the video of the interview. I'm helpless if the interview is not available online. All I can say is that I'm sure some ARR-fans will certainly have this in his possession. So, hopefully, someday you will see it and ascertain my truthfulness in this regard.
"the only persons u have acknowledged as worthy were the ones who have agreed with u."
You don't agree with me on any count, yet I've acknowledged you and replied to you several times. The same goes for Vijay, Dude, Genesis and so on.

Nice try... You havent actually answered my question at all. I wanted you to tell me what ARR has done which is new; we'll come to what Hj did after you answer this one.
Once you answer that we will continue with this digression. And hey, you dont have to worry about me disputing you, just list all the innovations ARR did.
