Copied songs in TFM

  hello friends,
  
  perhaps many of you would have watched/watching colgate sapthaswarangal by AV Ramanan in Sun TV. he has an interesting round where the pallavi of one song must merge with the charanam of another and the singer should revert to the first song. i was doing some tinkering and found that raja gets inspired by his own compositions frequently. here is a sample. try it and you will see the similarity,
  
  1. Pallavi: nilave mugam kaatu (yejaman)
  Charanam: kannan padum padal kettu from mani osai kettu ezhundu (payangal mudivadillai)
  
  2.Pallavi: raman aandalum ravanan aandalum (muLum malarum)
  Charanam: tharai thampatai thattatum kottatum from annathe aadiran othiku (Aboorva sahotharargal)

  In saptha swarangal, the round was meant to mix 2 songs which belong to same raaga (that's what ramanan told when that round was first introduced).
  Does it come under copying.

  hAl kaisa hai janAb kA? (hindi movie..) both sound similar. 'should chek the years of releases to see who suttufied from whom. same with kadhOdu thAn nAn pAduvEn(gemini, jayanthi) and jeenA yahAn marnA yahAn(mErA nAm jOker(hindi)).

  Haal kaisa is from "Chalti ka naam Gadi".It was filmed during easly 60's.Was Putihya paravai before or after that movie?

  adi anarkali konjam keladi is a strrrrraight lift from a number by Shaggy (Bombastic). In fact, the songs of the movie have the dubious distinction of all of them having been suttufied from different sources. Sirpi vaazhga !

  No, I don't think so, except that the opening line may have some vague incidental resemblance. But then, as Sathiya Keerthi sir said in some other thread a long time ago, it could be pure accident, and nothing more...

  I have the theme music of the english moive in India, I still dont get the name.
  
  Paratga nayabagm - first 4 opening bars were taken from that theme. Later it changes to something different.
  English is tune is similar if you sing it this way

  There's an interesting story behind this "copied" song from IR!!
  One of the tamil magazines quoted IR saying, Balumahendra was so impressed by this hindi song ,that he wanted this song to be in this movie (N kEttavai)
  The situation also is almost the same (a beggar singing the song when a corpse is carried for funeral -in hindi it was again a beggar ,i'm not sure about the funeral part)
  I think this can't be categorised under "copied" songs.
  I don't think IR has ever lifted any song (lifted in the sense ctrl-X & ctrl-V!!!)

  The other story is that Raja was so pissed off after KA copied 'iLaiya nilA pozhigiradhu' in kaLAkAr *ing Sridevi that he copied KA's Kasme Vaade Pyar wafa ka. This story has been circulated in RMIM.

  Eventhough I am new to this site, I am not new to the Tamil film songs. Songs have been lifted to suit the producer's needs and not intentionally (I suppose). There are lots of instances of Hindi songs being lifted from Tamil tunes and vice versa.

  I am a new entrant and a hardcore fan of Raja. If I am right, I was informed that, Raja has great admiration for the below given MDs. He is also one of their greatest fans.

  It is also established that the song "Kanavu Kanum Vazhkai" was a tribute to Salil Choudhry (probably after his demise). We can all understand that, for a person who has created a lot of songs, creating another is not going to be a big deal.
  
  I would like to bring to your notice the resemblance between two songs. In the film "Neengal Kettavai" we have "O vasantha Raja". The prelude has a rhythm which exactly matches with that of ARR's "Oruvan Oruvan Mudhalali"'. I would urge you to verify and respond.
  
  Another lift that ARR has made is the "Chenthamiz Naattu Thamizhachiyae" which sounds exactly like "Aadi Maasam Porandhiruchchu" in the film "Inaindha Kaigal". The music was by Aabavanan - I believe.

  IR's "Vagai nadhi oram" from "Rickshaw mama" had its pallavi lifted from Naushad's "Chod babul ka ghar" from the film Babul.
  
  MSV's "Vanthavargal Vaazhga" from "Engiruntho vanthaal" had its pallavi lifted from Naushad's "Nain lad jaye hain" from "Ram aur Shyam".
  
  KVM's "Mannan thiru meni" (By Balamurali & PS) from "suba dinam" had its pallavi lifted from Madan Mohan's "Wo Chup rahe" sung by Lata in the movie "Adalat".

  Has anybody listened to "Kaliyoonjal"? (Malayalam). Our IR is the MD. The song " Manik kuttikkurumbulla" rendered by KJ is just like "Kottikkidakkudhu Selvangal Bhoomiyilae" (rendered by Chitra) by IR. Self - copying?

  I dont know if this has been discussed before. Yesterday I saw a song on Sun-TV from I think "priyamudan" which is a lift from the "rang bharE baadal sE" song from Chandni. I dont know who is the MD either.
