Dear Friends,
Let us vote for 'Adi Rakkamma' from THALAPATHI as our choice for the World's Top Ten Songs poll conducted by BBC!
I am suggesting this song because if in case the BBC people listen to the nominated songs, they will feel knocked out on hearing our Maestro's 150 Vioins' Strings Ensemble!
Let us all do it at:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/us/features/topten/
Yours Always Musically,
Vijay.

Dont know Venki..When I first saw, it was listed as the original by BC......all the articles abt RKT,it was ARR's........now it is various artists.......
do you know the pie chart is gone ..........BBC just list the songs as contender for no 1 slot..........this is going to be fun :).......now all these guys don't know where they stand....they need to accelerate the rate of rigging to be on the top.....

yeah..its really fun now..
ha ha ha..orey tamash..

What happens if they prepone the poll results by one week without informing anyone?athu innum thamasha irukkum..

"VOTING FOR THE TOP 10 SONGS WILL END ON
13 DECEMBER (1300 GMT)
The final chart will be unveiled here live on the internet on 21 December."
Ayoo..itha naan ippo thaan pathen..so only two more days for cheating..chi..voting..:-)
Heard that all the software projects productivity has gone down in the last few days due to this poll..:-)

actually LLD - the "productivity" has GONE up in many places - u know the reason right..... if "developers" concentrate on "writing" software, then the productivity goes down RIGHT :-)..... so as they are busy in the cheating/rigging/voting or whatever, the "productivity" has gone up in many places....

this is from today-
//Contenders for the number 1 slot in the chart include:
(in no particular order)
Imagine (John Lennon), Vande Mataram (Various artists), Believe (Cher), Dil Dil Pakistan (Vital Signs), We Don't Talk Anymore (Sir Cliff Richard), Rakkamma Kaiya Thattu (Ilayaraja), A Nation Once Again (Wolfe Tones), Hero (Mariah Carey)
//
I think BBC chaps said enuf is enuf-I would not be surprised if none of the songs discussed here are going to be first. That pie chart is no more there and the beatles-obsessed-britishers will definitely award the top song to imagine.

why dont we nominate a song 'kuppayee kuppayee' to bbc and vote it to be the no.1 song so that we can prove that what the poll actually means?

anyhow u people managed to bring down rkt from 1st position. satisfied?
what do u did't see in IR's RKT. Nobody have attempted with such a rock, type of song. Why u people think our music will not be world's no.1
IR is not a simple MD, hope u remember he is Asia's No.1 person to play symphony. Anyway try to hear the albums
"Nothing but wind"
"How to name it"
Then talk about IR. Ramarajan movies(IR music) had never been a failure in Audio. (may be close ur eyes and hear the music)

Those against the song RKT .. jst have this.... hey try 2 keep the song frm INDIA as first.. whether VM or RKT.. Jst make the song frm INDIA 1st... since RKT was lead'n the vot'n in the begin'n v asked 2 vote for it.. last week VM was lead'n... never mind... vote for Indian songs..

there's no rocket science to it. Let's face facts. The no. of potential voters for VM far outnumber the no of potential voters for RKT. Hence to push RKT to the top, the level of vote rigging involved needs to far outnumber the % of rigged votes for VM. You can pretend not to understand this, but tat doesnt make u any wiser nor does it make those who understand this simple truth more ignorant.
If it hurts our sabesan's sensitivities, let me rephrase the conclusion:
For every 1% of unemployed, ruthless HCARRF, there are 4% unemployed Thamizh Bakthi konda Thesiya Thondan. (I can hear Sabesan's sigh of relief at this correction). :)

on: Thu Dec 12 06:14:44 EST 2002
malar, did'nt i tell you that "only IRFans do the rigging and not ARRFans".... naamaa "WN" has put that in a different manner here saying that "of the 1000 votes VM got 998 was ORIGINAL and only 2 was RIGGING.... but for RKT only 2 ORIGINAL and rest are RIGGING....." yabbbaa......
VAAZGHAA JANANAYAGAAAM.......
- From: malar (@ 204.27.156.146)
on: Thu Dec 12 09:15:41 EST 2002
so,ARR has only two HCARRF(and 996 fans!!!!!!!!) and IR has only two fans(??????????)(those two are ruthless HCIRF who have nothing to do except rigging !!!!!).....now it makes real sense ........

A few questions though.
1. How come VM jumped from #4 to #1 within a day or two(I think that was a Fri or Sat...)?
2. How come VM toppled the more-than-hemisphere occupying RKT by a more than comfortable margin?
3. It is well-known that in India, infrastructure for the internet is unheard of outside South India(We have southern CMs SMKrishna, Chandrababu, Mu.Ka opening up hi-tec parks et al...while their north indian counterparts like Laloo say, "Yeh IT-whytee kya hai?"). Against this backdrop, were the bulk of VM voters really non-tamils living in India?
4. How come these non-Southies unanimously chose VM leaving aside the works of RDB, SDB, Naushad, Salil Choudhury, Asha, Lata, Kishore, Rafi, Mukesh, Manna...Not one of their works are in the reckoning.
5. And staying in India in a place outside of South, my perception is that non-southies hardly know that such a poll is going on!
Enough said! one could argue till the cows come home.

Prabhu,
Well said..Now i am waiting for WN's reply who said "no. of potential voters for VM far outnumber the no of potential voters for RKT"
How come in a matter of hours VM could reach top?

I second all your questions Prabhu......
everybody is acting as though all those people north of tamilnadu will bow to these people's judgment that VM(by ARR) is the song of the century.......even they boast everybody voted for VM 'cos it is ARR's(may be it is true assumping its success attibutable ONLY to people south of Karnataka)..........
otherwise, Didn't know ARR has such an unanimous support !!????
>>1. How come VM jumped from #4 to #1 within a day or two(I think that was a Fri or Sat...)?
>>2. How come VM toppled the more-than-hemisphere occupying RKT by a more than comfortable margin?
Well, isn't it obvious how it happened so fast and so sudden? what else can we say?
According to WN's latest interpretation, 400(original) ARR fans and 100(ruthless HCIRF(sorry,Thamizh Bakthi konda Thesiya Thondargal) voted in the poll...........A logic as baseless as the famous Grp Q

Sam, watch ur tongue, pls. where are u from? Live like a Tamilian or live in Tamilnadu and see the difference in ur life. Do not judge others as u judge yourself. People like u are just people, humans with no insight, cannot understand the 'darker' side of life and how difficulties transform the soul, how the search for the truth enlightens the mind and opens the heart.
For ur info, no other land on this planet has given incomparable geniuses like Ramanujan and Ilayaraja. Go search the end of this earth and let me know.
BTW,Beatles got 54 songs nominated?! So, if the world heard 4000 songs of IR, means we would have 5000 IR songs nominated? I don't get it. Vande Mataram - No.1? Dil Dil Pakistan another one? what musci are we talking of in the poll and why did we get IR mixed up here?! Thank god, it is ending soon.

To be frank, Beatles is over-rated definitely a phenomenon but nowehere greater than ABBA. I hardly have revisit Beatles song but ABBA million times. But, they were the only consistent band and worth iconising. BTW, what happened to Chaiyyan Chaiyyan of Rahman? is Vande Mataram voted for by jealous other Indians?
