Hey ! See this funny stuff from Rajiv Vijaykar. Just too funny an' I'm still can't resist laughing.
"
In these eight years, his faith, self-confidence, hard work and determination kept Nadeem-Shravan, A R Rehman and Jatin Lalit at bay.
He also proved that no tunesmith of the post-Laxmikant Pyarelal-R D Burman-Kalyanji Anandji generation has had his kind of versatility, by providing scores like Imtihaan, Vijaypath, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Border, Virasat, Tamanna, Ishq, Judwaa, Duplicate, Jaanam Samjha Karo, Kareeb, Baadshah, Fiza, Josh, Refugee and Rahul.

I am not sure I understand your point...IR has praised LM's voice - which would seem to be pretty sound judgement, even if a little over-emphasized. LM has praised AM, which can be one of three things - outright hypocrisy, atrociously poor judgement or a badly misplaced sense of compassion - LV's newfound admiration for a blithering idiot and unscrupulous thief like Anu Mallik, notwithstanding. LV, I'm glad you feel IR should have received the Natl. Award for Bharathi. I feel he should have received it twice, thrice over for some movies when he was at his peak. When those albums have gone unrewarded, it matters little if he is given recognition almost as an after-thought in the twilight of his TFM career.
Anyway, I am done with this thread. And unlike LV, when I say I'll stay away, I really will ;-)

Dear srinath,
You still have not understood the point I was trying to make - or maybe you've DECIDED not to.
By now, its clear that I am NO fan of Annu Mallick. He has copied several songs, and badly too. He's been extremely arrogant and bombastic in praising himself. He's almost a narcissist.
I had read the article that you had mentioned a long time back. Its atrocious to say that he's been verstaile or that he's kept ARR at bay.
However-THIS one partcular album was definitely good, though nowhere in comparison to Barathi. If you'll listen to it, you'll understand what I mean. So these songs should be praised, which Lataji has duly done. Whatever is good IS good, though the total number of good songs he's composed (without copying) fit easily onto your toe-tips (with some toes free!!). Refugee is one such, maybe one or 2 songs from Border and that
piece in Khamaj.
He should be criticised severely for the songs he copied, etc, BUT he should be praised for the little good he's done. You seem to be pretty narrow-minded and judje everthing with a pre-conceived (and mostly biased) notion. That's being narrow-minded. The very fact that you are writing your responses to a music forum should indicate that you are a lover of GOOD music, GOOD
songs - no matter who has performed or composed them.
Lata has openly praised the truly great work of IR. She has been a fan of Ghantasala, of MS, of P Susheela and of Sirkali Govindarajan.Today she openly praises ARR , much more than AM.
So one word of praise from her should NOT allow you to create such a fuss!!!
So stop the pathetic statement that this is a case of hypcrisy.

vijay,
All the articles of rajiv vijaykar is hilarious. if you want more funny stuff, read his articles in dhadkan.com. He seems to have some problem over ARR. He is self-confessed fan of LP and Anumalik, and that says it all.

Somewhere in this thread I read that IR had appreciated LM as great, divine....
So what?
IR has craze for a mosumosu beard & at times fancies shaving his head...
IR insists in using Bhava for at least in one song in each film...
IR visits god-men / god-women and revers them...
Are all DFers who admire IR's music supposed to accept the above ones and similar tastes of IR????
IR hyped (IMHO) the sheNbagamE song with Asha and vaLayOsai with LM...Those are such beautiful compositions (esp. sheNbagamE) that even when rendered by any TF singer, they would have been enchanting! To me, sheNbagamE would have been much more appealing with SJ...no doubt it will get into my personal best list, but definitely below `pAdavA' of SJ (accident version)...
Let IR appreciate LM, but it's his personal taste...I appreciate, admire IR's music and talents, but for sure not his tastes & beliefs...in other words, I have not idolized and will never idolize him!

Here's the complete version of Dr(?) Vijaykar's interview with Anu Malik. The interviewer obviously is in awe of him.. he calls him the best ever VERSATILE MD after RD Burman!!
And goes on to say that with the National Award "He (Anu) has been finally vindicated from accusations of being a copycat and a fluke in the industry."
And the guy Anu Malik has no manners. When asked about Ranjit Barot, one of the guest-composers for Fiza, (the other was ARR), he says:
"Frankly, all the songs from Fiza that made news were mine. Ranjit Barot who composed 'Mere watan', which wasn't a song in the strictest sense, works often with me as a programmer."
Such arrogance?
So what if someone works with another MD? Can he not be a composer? Ranjit Barot did a superb job in the Tamil film, 'VIP'. Well, if you tell Annu this, soon he will copy Ranjit's 'Mayilu Mayilu Mayilamma' in some forthcoming Subhash Ghai film and would say it's 'My best song ever'. And now that he is a National Award winner, all magazines and award organizations will run behind him with an award each...
Just composing a couple of hummable original melodies doesn't make him the best MD ever!

ANS:
So do you mean to say we should put those god-men/quacks etc. in the same category as LM? Or do you mean that his praising LM is not justified?
(especially when you dont seem to have heard her masterpieces anyway!!!) Or are you unable to digest the fact that he praised her whole-heartedly. All good artists have appreciation for the works of other good artists, my friend, that's why Lata and IR and MS are mutual admirers.
***********************
IR hyped (IMHO) the sheNbagamE song with Asha and vaLayOsai with LM.

Ans:
ValayOsai is a beautiful song. LM sounded pretty good though her Tamil diction does not appeal to me. This one and the other 4-5 songs LM sang for him are only a proof of the fact how much the good music directors of our country have loved LMs divine vocals.
Although these are not amongst LMs best (not because the tune is bad at all - someone here said she never sounded so good before , which is not true), I dont think IR has hyped these songs in any manner at all.

LV, I have nothing against anyone praising anyone else (see, even LM praises copy cat Anu Malik), but it's just that I'm not going to form my opinion based on such comments and I don't think it's healthy for anyone to do that way...analyse personally & then form a opinion...
In today's businesses (espcially in movie business), praise is often equal to flattery...and analyse is often equal to ,tear down...so much of equations behind the scenes...
My personal analysis concludes clearly that Hindi singers kill Thamizh and thus distort otherwise great compositions...It's unnecessary for IR or any MD to bring in such voices (unless the movie situation calls for, say like in `nAdodi thendRal')...why, he could have asked LM or Asha to sing the hindi song in naNdu, which he didn't...but then sheNbagamE, a 100% TN folk song? I think it's mere publicity stunt...

now eden-garu
i want to have some quarrel with you :-)
IF SJ/PS who is a telegu can sing 100% TN folk song and it is accepted by us then why not Asha? if you say that SJ/PS are proven in singing 100% TN folk then like their first 100% TN folk song why can't we take this as a Asha's first venture in it. Here i'm neither support/oppose LM/Asha nor saying that Asha has succeeded in singing 100% TN folk. Just as a matter of curiosity and ofcourse want to have a good fight I'm stating this.
