Pls read my sentence as IR excelled in bass guitar when compared with rhythm guitar. I dont want to sound as if IR is bad in rhythm guitar.

Jay is Gifted! It's a marvellous mix. Though he claims that he's not a trained musician...this score convinces that his passion for music and how he can create a soothing melody. The sample that he used was a hindusthani raagalapana in Darbari Kaanada...I liked the way he built the backing orchestration -> I appreciate his creativity. Jay is specializing in composing good Bass Tracks.
Another noticeable thing is the Mixing of the tracks. He usually comes up with minimum Orchestration that's soulful.
Devotion could be just a term to name it...but watch out it touches the soul directly.
Regards,
Aditya

Jay:
While at 1:45 -> Vocalist when he stands up on "Sa" in Darbari Kaanada Melody Structure for 3 seconds-> your backing orchestra was using some notes that is making it fall out of this structure. Although you need not stick with this melody structure - it would be nicer to indian ears and ofcourse for the western ears.
Call it a counter point or bass notes or sounds out of sync in frequencies during those 2 seconds...
I like it. I felt it is a soulful effort. Keep it up.
Regards,
Aditya

Hey Thanks guys. Aditya: your point noted.
This was a big breakthrough for me as this was my first all PC based song. Not just recording, I had to modify the Vocal sample to fit into the tempo of the song. I think the recording quality is also so far my best. Thanks to Delta 1010,Cubase and Cool Edit!

Jay: a very good one. i agree with AdityA in that at 1:49 the piano seems to abruptly stop; another thing i thought could be done better was the intro of the tabla - sounds hurried/unsure. otherwise this is a very good piece.

What's the style of Music that you are composing and performing?...your sound definition in all scores seems to have a pattern...I would say you brought a sounds familiarity in your music. Are you mastering any particular style?

Well, I didnt know myself what kind of music I'd be making until I did a few tracks of my own. I was exploring and trying to find a focus but now I think I can say I'm into NewAge, Electronica and Fusion. It wasn't intentional..I guess everybody finds their own musical realization!! (Food for thought!) The music I've done so far and the music I used to listen to are somehow way different..I'd say my major influence was Pink Floyd!

"Though he claims that he's not a trained musician...this score convinces that his passion for music and how he can create a soothing melody" - Training, education dont seem to matter when it comes to music, in my personal observation. Jay is a NATURAL. I dont know how hard he worked on this track, but the track flows freely..that is how music should be..people should not detect the hardwork you put in ..in your work :) Very good, drum work on this track. A very good interpretation of a finale !! I like this.
(Jay, you know Aditya :) dont keep asking the same question every time :))

Jay..I like your influence. Even though you list your genre as Electronica et all..this track could be done very with real instruments too, and if you had Alan Parson to do the recording..what a track would it be :)

Looks like I have got some good time in office for this week:-))
Check out the following in whatever scale maintaining same relative distance between the notes.
Darbari Kaanada Melody Structure:
Sa Ri Ma Pa Da Ni Sa
C D F G A A# C
Sa Ni Pa Ma Ga Ma Ri Sa
C A# G F D# F D C
"Sun Rises in the East" kind of Truth:-))
=========================================
If a person's ear is trained to listen indian classical music, then the ears perceive the phrases in a music following some named(known to musician) structures. These structures are otherwise called ragas as discovered by ancient musicians -> If it matches with your database then arrive with a guess.
Don't bother too much about these structures...let your creativity flow as it comes...What matters is good music whether it follows the known structures or not. But we should rememeber that these structures are tested the most:-)) So you can't go wrong!

Aditya

Jay
This song is a different attempt by you.
Very good rthym and all.
But personally to me, the song really didnt jell on me unlike your other song Alive.
I feel it could have been taken even further.
Kiru are you a Alan Parson fan, thought I am the only guy who liked them,at present we dont have any artist in the market who could sync pop, rock, classic music as them.

Hi guys
I came across a wonderful Jazz fusion album called
'Good People In Times Of Evil'
by Selva Ganesh(Vinayakarams son) on kanchira, vocals,Jonas Hellborg Bass
and Shawn Lane Guitar, its solid album
esp the duets between bass and kanchira is awesome for each kalapramanam done by kanchira is equally matched by the bass
Here is few samples

UV: Devotion is a very simple track compared to Alive. Hey, I listen to a lot of Alan Parsons too! Call me a fan. Love their arrangement.
Jazz&Bluez: May be I should've had a real tablist playing! That'll make a huge difference.

Jay good to know you are also a Alan Parson fan :). BTW in that Tabla sequence was actually pretty good.
So what you think about the samples songs from the album 'Good People In Times Of Evil'
I have never heard such kind of bass play in my life so far Jonas Hellborg is simply amazing no wonder he played with John Maclaughlin.
This guy matches Selvaganesh by playing complex carnatic rhtym metrics with such ease man

Jay
Devotion was a very nice effort. From a layman's (my) point of view, the composition was pleasant and enjoyable. I listened to it with my headphones on and with eyes closed. Darbari kaanada is easily identifiable in your composition. The raga was nicely used to produce a soothing melody.
