"The album kicks in with the very catchy ye ye ennachu sung by Vasundhara Das in manner that only she can. Next is a beauty of a ballad sonnalum by Unnikrishnan and Harini.
Vaan nila by Srinivas and Karthik is a highly innovative rock-n-roll track that would not let your feet rest. S P Balu is in his usual fantastic form in the heart warming yenthan vanin. Rahman takes off again into a very progressive FTV style track in bailmore with T R Simbu and Tippu doing the vocal honours. And the album ends on a grand note with Mano and Clinton going for the gut with o kadhale, which also sits on an emotional high note in the movie.
Kaadhal Virus has all the ingredients of a typical Kathir-A R Rahman soundtrack. A great mix of upbeat youthful tracks and soulful ballads"

yes....the cassette is priced at Rs.45.......and i guess they r selling like hot piece of cakes (no wonder!)......coz as soon as i walked in the guy handed me a kathal virus cassette! :)
on first hearing i thot......sahikkala......kandravi.....but for one song.....VaanNila
1) Yae Enna aachu i felt was decen on the first hearing......but now i feel its really really good.....esplly coz wat we get normally is a fast beat western song.....on the contrary i feel this one has slower beats.......yeah i agree no1 cud have sung this better than Vasundhra Das.......and a typical vasundhra ending to the song as well.....she sez "ok".....just like "oops" and "adios amegos"
2)Sonnalaum.....wonderful melody.....i read in The Hindu that Shankar wanted this song for Boys.....unfortunately it had been chosen already by kathir! :) ..... this is the song which u can hear in the trailers (or shud i say ads) as well......unnikrishnana super
3)VaanNila......my pick in this album.....super-o-super......liked the sax bits very much......just feel piano cud have been avoided in some places
4)Yenthan Vaanin....another melody....very well done by SPB
5)Bailamore......chumma solla koodathu karadi kutti nallavey paadi irukku (NOM!) :) ...... has some funky beats (the robot sortof ones) ..... robot beats into music??? .... i can find a better man to do it than ARR ..... this song has more of these beats than the singing bit itself! .... a new effort from ARR
6)O Kadhaley......another melody which ends on a devadas kinda note :) (the coughing and stuff!)
overall really really nice album.......with new expts. by ARR ..... 3 melodies and 3 western kinda songa are enuf to get the attention of ppl........however Kannathil Muthamittal is still my favourite for this year
*******
btw....OISG,cosmo wat happened?? .... my turn to ask! :)

K.V is disappointing. I think he concentrates on hindi music. namkewast he is scoring music for tamil movies. After KKKK no movie was good. All are average. This one is below average not as bad as baba though. Is he going to retire or do something else?

Harris is good. Deva is bad. ARR is worst. ARR is copying Harris tunes. His stomach is burning since Harris is doing well. That is why he is copying his tunes. ARR is no good anymore. Nobody likes his songs. Only 3 or 4 people in this forum like it. You don't make the world. Harris songs are more famous than ARR songs. Kadhal Virus songs are very bad. That is why i said Deva is better than him. I should have said ARR is worse than Deva as Deva is also bad.

Thiru,
ippo i just love all the songs (epslly the SPB song has grown much more on me).....i read in some site that this is NOT ARRs comeback album....mann does he have a great sense of humour or wat :)

which1 do u guys thinks is better??
KM or KV
i simply simply loved KM.....i feel tis just amazing

on: Tue Oct 8 12:26:45 EDT 2002
guys
i dont think KV and KM make for a fair comparison for they are extreme opposites when it comes to the subject or even the song situations (judging from KV songs). KM was good in its own and KV's songs are also good in its own way. and guys, try to appreciate the experimental styles he had tried in 'bailamore' and 'he he yenna aachu'. and it came out well also. how long do you wanna hear the same kind of song patterns for decades ? and sometimes you guys start criticsing that the rhythm patterns becomes repetitive if he does not change also. when rating a piece of music, just dont keep in mind his past work or some other MDs work. Just think of how this one sounds to you !!

on: Tue Oct 8 12:29:35 EDT 2002
hey C~P,
dont get offended that mine was a reply to your posting. i posted that in general looking at the number of postings just about comparing MDs and their music which is less important than the music itself.

Listen to the piece from 3:02 to 3:23..in 'ye ye enna achu'..... This was what I was referring to where the beat is deliberately not in sync with the lyrics...

Thiru
You can find that kind of 'voice -music not-in-sync'style more in R&B ,hip-hop music . you can find more of that stuff in black music. and guys, the tune in the lines 'yenthan vaanil kaathal nilave indru theivathu yethanaal nilave..' reminds me of one old song. not sure if it is a tamil or hindi number. Ofcourse, i am not reffering to the SPB number 'Jo Maanga thaa khwaab' from ARR's KNK. This should be something else !!

In the song Vaanila, srinivas starts then karthik comes but after that cant find srinivas sounds like most song by karthik. someone clear...

on: Tue Oct 8 14:50:54 EDT 2002
yeah, me too. even I didnt hear srinivas much in that song. maybe it is just like he used srinivas to start with and then he might have been there in that chorus singing those fast lines. i think kathir has the knack of getting some different tunes out of ARR each time. he is good atleast ina way that he has something in his mind and gets that out of ARR.
Kalluri Saalai from KD - heavy metal concept
Yennai Kaanavillaaiyo from KD - sad soulful male duet (if you can call that way)
Kaathalennum from KT & Yenthan Vaanila from KV - a simple melody from SPB and Swarnalatha
Daandiya from KT - gujarati daandiya song
O Vennila from KD & O kaathale from KV - sad love soul stirrers

- What is the big deal? In what way that enhanced the song? pathetic analysis of songs. If you want good out of sync Listen to "Vaa Vaa Manjal Malare" from Rajathi Raja. It's a pretty good song. You guys are talking these petty things as big things.
- From: Thiru (@ 63.169.243.35)
on: Tue Oct 8 15:18:37 EDT 2002
Satish.... doesnt matter whether u appreciate it or not, it was a genuine case of improvisation rather than usual rythmic beats and stuff... 'Vaa vaa manjal malare' la endha edathula out of sync irukku??? I didnt say its a new thing to TFM... A very old and perfect example is 'Avalukkenna azhagiya mugam' by MSV...
- From: Maverick (@ 192.128.167.68)
on: Tue Oct 8 15:22:54 EDT 2002
Cmon. If you can appreciate the out-of-sync in Vaa Vaa Manjal Malare whats ur problem in this Ye Ye.. It certainly was innovative and a style of music alien to most of TFM fans - hip-hop, R&B. Vaa Vaa was a good effort by IR , but did anybody complain ?and if nobody sat down and discussed about it, you can't help it. Maybe , you can start a thread and start discussing it.

Just Ordinary !!!!Run of the mill!!!
IR's En Mana Vaanil was much better. Why BABA was better than this KADHAL VIRUS album.
A dissappointment from ARR,wish him better luck to come up with better compositions next time!!
LOOKS LIKE WE NEED AN ANTI VIRUS(IR)TO KEEP THIS VIRUS UNDER CONTROL.
