NO SONGS in Mani Ratnam's film

No songs in Mani’s film! NEW!

Mani Ratnam’s bilingual in Hindi and Tamil will not have any songs!

Mani- Rahman combination has always created excellent music but this time there will be no songs and instead Rahman will be giving a great background score for the film. And for the trailers to be shown on satellite channels there will be teaser songs.

The duration of this untitled film will be only 2 hours 15 minutes. The Hindi version is already complete with only a few scenes of Vivek Oberoi to be shot once he is back in action after the freak accident that happened in Kolkatta.

The Hindi version is likely to be titled Yuva and the Tamil Ayutha Ezhuthu. The Tamil version will now have Surya (Ajay Devgan in Hindi) , Madhavan ((Abhshek Bachchan in Hindi) and Siddharth (Vivek Oberoi in Hindi) along with Meera Jasmine, Simran and Trisha Krishnan.

The background for the Tamil version will be Chennai and Mani plans to release both the versions simultaneously in January 2004. Since there are no songs and the film is shot using sync sound (saves dubbing time) the work will be complete in less time.

  all the above albums have been hits. so Manirathnam- ARR combination have been giving best albums whenever they came together. till date all the albums that they have come out together have been good.

  THIs is not good!!!! oh god!! i'm not talking abt the no music in New MR movie.. but i'm very sad that siddharth is going to act in a movie with trisha!!! AHHH she may steal him!! She is a total waste.. and siddharth is soo precious. THis is not happening. But sidd is a clever boy, he will stay awake from those glam dolls.. his name has got success written all over it!

  well nattamai, Mani and shankar dunt have the guts to part ways with ARR and that is the truth..... he has told in an interview that " how can i leave rahman from my movie(for alaipauthey)", i dunt think he will ever leave him also..... obviously if u have a choice betn a arrogant genius who doesent care abt. other's ideas and gr8est improvise on the other side, who wud u opt for????

  The MR-IR combination has had its days. MR has moved far ahead of the days when he worked with IR both in terms of theme as well as technique. His style today is much richer and mature. The depth of emotion that he conveys and the realism of the situation are something entirely different. Only a compser who lives in present times - like ARR - can do justice to such themes. All said and done it is ARR who travels widely most of the year and is constantly in touch with 20 somethings and working with their talents all the time. IR at 60 years of age may be sympathetic to the aspirations of todays youth but can do little else. It is like comparing KR Narayanan/Sankar Dayal Sharma's Presidency with Abdul Kalam's Presidency. Despite Kalam's age he has the pulse of the times and is contemporary. One day he can talk about Linux and secure computing with Bill Gates, another day he is discussing primary education in Bihar! ARR us like that, he is true to life and his music resonates with not only our thoughts but also with our senses. Witness the exuberance over Boys and see the difference. MR of course could always work with anyone he wants (or anyone who wants to work with him). As for KR's quote that MR approached IR for Iruvar please take it with a big pinch of salt. KR is known more for his talk than his action.

  as far as the films go, u cannot expect ARR to jump in and work as assistant directtor to Manirathnam. Manirathnam is in a class of his own where he has the previlege to try out different plots. out of the movies that i have listed u can see that Uyire and Iruvar had misfired. both of them had plots that were uncommon.
  but he did prove himself when he fellback to the tried and tested formula of love stories in " Alaipayuthey".
  so Mani-ARR combination has been giving best output after their unison.
  point to be noted - i have not spoken about Mani-IR combination. i know they have given good music and i have nothing against their albums. i am just out to assert that Mani-ARR combination is also performing really well till date.

  vicky i have a disagreement with the above point.
  songs are not timebarred.. any music fan saying i wont listen to any particular song coz its too old seems weird..
  
  i feel ppl will be happy to take songs from Roja, Bombay , Uyire ... no matter when its heard. ARR melodies hold a place for its own. i donno how he does that, but u can single out songs which will be good to hear 24/7

  The only song/s people still listening are chinna chinna asai or some song from puthia mugam or the alai payuthe song. Please, for all the hoohaa that youngsters create when any ARR album is released, it is not followed by any long lasting listening. No body is talking abt his pathetic fusion music from Duet nor his pathetic carnatic attempt from Sangamam. It just dies. No 1 is listening to chaiya or muqabala or chiku buku railu and other over hyped craps.

  again. i know that u r diehard IR fan from ur posts. but the ways in which u try to belittle other MDs well ARR in particular, are not encouraging.

  well, i dont want to argue with u saying u r wrong and i am right. try listening to ARR melodies( i am pretty sure u wont be doing that at any cost).
  the songs that reach the top during album releases are the peppy numbers. like chikku bukku railu, muqabla, etc. they are sure to not have a lasting effect.
  but melodies... they stand in a class of their own.
  whether its ARR or IR melodies only stay their holding their names high. if a thenpaandi seemaiyilae, poongodi thaan poothadhamma, poomalayae thozh serava, idhu oru ponmaalai pozhudhu, vaanuyerndha veedhiyilae, nalam vaazha yennaalum yen vaazhthukkal, kalyana maalai,keladi kanmani(to name a few) holds place for IR..
  poongatrilae, kadhal rojavae, uyirae uyirae, rasathi, yenai kaanavillaiyae, thendralae, snehidhanae, vennilavae,minnalae nee vandhadhaenadi, pachchai kiligal, ennavalae(to name a few) stands tall for ARR.

  I seriously disagree that Duet and Sangamam were pathetic.. Duet was one of the good albums i love, Sangamam though i did not like that much, but it was not bad.
  But C~P comparing with Sindhu Bhairavi and Punnagai mannan is surely inappropriate.

  Though I dont deny IR would have given a very effective score for Iruvar. MR went to ARR with Iruvar even before Bombay.
  
  Do not throw statements like this freely. It is an accepted and ostentatious fact that MR shunned away from IR. So did KB, BR.
  
  
  You cannot blame anyone here because directors want to move with times and want different MDs. Remember people like KB went away from MSV and joined IR. All move with the times.
  
  I dont know about the other MDs, but I am pretty sure MR-ARR will always stay! Kannathil Muthamittal's appreciation internationally is something MR has never ever seen for any of his movies. Maximum film festival appearance and two awards already!
