Hi! We've made a major addition to newtfmpage, and that is a big song bank. Dhool features thousands of songs for your listening pleasure. This site is a part of the newtfmpage.com - swara.com group. Together with newtfmpage, we wish to make this the best place to listen to tamil film songs online and know about tamil film music. Our collection includes old, new, famous, rare and unheard of songs. We are still fine tuning and fixing the database errors, so please bear with us. We value your feedback, and this will help us build the site better. Please post your comments below or mail to comments@newtfmpage.com.
This work was done by us (bb and RR) with MS and swara.com ravi.

Friends,
I saw this song in some channel recently. Like 'imayam', this song is also shot in the famous Pashupathinath temple of Nepal. Suman and the heroine (???) are dressed in some Raja Rani kind of outfit, reminding you of the more recent 'Maayan' shot in a Srilankan Buddhist temple (Kandy??), with Nasser and Ranjita.

hi raj
i knew that only the first lines are from the original version in parthiban kanavu.it is more of an impromptu haiku session after those 2 lines. The chinmaye song that i uploaded was from the malayalam movie thilakam.

Cinema Virumbi, I thought enakkaaga kaathiru was a Ramarajan film!

Thanks for this memorable tune. Enakkaga Kaathiru was directed by P.Nivas (cinematographer for BRs films.)
His other film (which also bombed) was Kallukkul Eeram.
Was Ootymalai Kaatile (or Kaatrile?) an IR solo also from EK?
I don't believe it was a Ramarajan film!
(Wasn't Ramarajan's first tamizh film Marudhaani?)

Naaz,
I think Kallukkul Eeram was directed by Bharatiraja (maybe Nivas was the cinematographer for the movie).

I am pretty certain that the director was Nivas (and BR played the director in the film). I attended the press screening for KI in Madras, at the once-upon-a-time "exclusive" AVMs Mena theatre.

other_side: Since this is TFM, I looked for the song in TFM (MIO). Thanks for the clarification.
GCT_kuyil: If you like this song, a number of carnatic musicians have sung this one. Try MIO. (Are you from GCT,Coimbatore?)

EK was a dreadful movie with pleasing visuals and a haunting score from IR. It *ed Suman,Sumalatha and Banuchander. It will mean a lot to me if someone else here would own up to having watched this train wreck of a movie:)

Naaz...Marudhani *ed Pandian and Shobhana. I think it may have been directed by RR. RR's visual attack started from "Namma ooru nalla ooru":)

There are lot's of tamil songs in malayalam movie's.Because lot of there movies are
classical based.they use lot of tamil and telugu classical songs.Alipauthey kanna, seetha kalyana
and lot of other songs are there. There are tamil songs exclusively written for malaalam movies also, like in "mani chitra thazhil" called oru murai vanthu parthaya. lyrics by vaali...

The malayalam film are not like ours.in our movies,if at all there is anything about malayalee's. it will be a song about the physical structure of a malaylee woman.Who ever who wrote the lyrics for "sindhu nadhiyin esai" wrote the lyrics as if barathi wants to spend time with malayalee woman "chera nan nattilam pengaludaney"... kashttam kashttam..

unfortunate_soul :
I 'fess up! I can empathise with your moniker fully -
that's how I felt too when I watched Enakkaga Kaathiru. Nivas thought his camera could make people forget incidentals like screenplay, plot, dialogues...Like they did!! :-)
Marudhaani was perhaps RRs directorial debut.
Didn't Nivas direct another dud called Sandhana Malargal (Sudhakar/Radhika/Vijayashanti) which lay about in the cans for ever...and then made it to the screen to die in a week.

Naaz...we should form a EK survivor group:)
Its one of the most disjointed movies I've seen. It absolutely made no sense at all! I can vaguely remember a psychotic banuchander stalking the heroine in some exotic locales (Nepal?) and some cheesy karate stunts. I am not getting those 3 hrs of my life back:(

EK was one of IR's best efforts. The music was exotic from the cathedral bells to the funky sarangi-like strings, the lyrics were fresh, and the vocals were great (if you liked DC that is).
Nivas was the director of EK and Kallukkul Eeram, though in KE, he was more of a pseudo director since BR's touches were all over the movie, besides who else would caste BR in that role?

How did that creep suman have this blessing leaves me wondering all the time. EK is definitely one of IR' most "sublime", beyond this stupid world type feeling. look at the moods consistent in all the songs, particularly O Maya makes you really feel like you are one with mother nature as in Kodai or some exotic hill station with lots of "spiritual" as in bells aura ;--) IR in some of the interludes he had brought in the "evocative" timeless or times immemorial sounds of India. this one album, 4 songs is a complete encyclopedia on a study of sounds of ancient India north south or east and west! The moods? that only IR can only bring out those sublime feelings thru his music.
I would say EK is the most transcendetal album for me (see the words coming out to describe this album!) What a waste on such a set of actors and story.

Naaz: Manukketha Ponnu-1985 (Pandiyan, Ilavarasi) marked the directorial debut of RR. Incidentally, RR and Nalini made 'special' appearances in the film!
Pani mazhai vizhum is among DC's best duets, besides Poonkathavae thaazhthiravaai, others that come to mind: Oh Nejamae (Ek), Ramanukke seethai (Rani Theni, DC as hero!), Sevvandhi pookalil seitha veedu (Mella Pesungal), Ithu kanavugal (Nizhal Thedum Nenjangal), Kaalai nera kaatre (Bagavathipuram Railwaygate)

Hi,
I am a music lover & a greater fan of your web site. I practice music listening to some of my favourite songs on your web-site. They are very good. However I am recently facing a problem of not being able to establish a connection with your server. There was never a problem before. Any help?

Nivas did "Nizhal thedum Nenjangal" which had the then popular " pookal Sindhungal " a SPB-SJ duet!
EK had some great visuals which were disturbed by the presence Suman & Sumalatha.NTN visuals were disturbed by Rajiv.
Who is the lyricist for "Ooti malai katile, pottu vaitha roatile enthan kadhal kottumelam"?
If you group IR movies by style Aradhani,Moodupani,Enakkaga Kaathiru could be grouped together. The "Mist" effect well brought out in the songs of these 3 movies.
After KallukuL eeram BR moved from Nivas to Kannan.

This guy Nivas is the director for 'Sevvandhi', right ? (Which had the Unni menon debut song in tamil, 'Semmeenee Semmeenee' and couple of other good numbers, MD : IR)
One more question - who is the MD for mella pesungaL ? (Sevvanthi pookkaLil seytha veedu) ?

Song of the Day: avaLukkenna azhagiya mugam from Server Sundaram.

- This peppy song is composed by MSV/TKR and sung by TMS and L.R.Eswari. The orchestration of the song is fantastic, and the rhythms are great. If I remember right, MSV appears in the movie itself, wearing a suit and conducting the orchestra. TMS too appears on-screen singing this song. Nagesh dances with his trademark style vaaththu dance. Knowledgeable guys can tell us whether this song reflected the popular western songs of that time. Some of the things are unique to this song and may not be found in earlier songs, like TMS singing, "Oh, azhagu oru magic touch! Oh-hO aasai oru kaadhal switch!". Can the second interlude be a good example of counterpoint? LRE makes a grand entry in the second stanza, her way of lingering at "kaaRROdu" and "nERROdu" is great.
- This was an AVM movie.
