  Raj,
  Can you tell me the album name of PS-BMK combo on "Thyagaraja aradhanai". I have one.. in which the first song is "Pagimam hare maganu bhava raghava". All the songs in the cassette are with PS singing first followed by BMK and the chorus. Is it that one you referred?

  The name of the album is "Thyagaraja Divyanaama Sankeerthana. Other albums by PS and BMK are "Badhraadhri Seetharamula Ekaanthaseva" collection of Thomu Narasimhadasu Keerthanas and
  "Umasankara Sthuthimala". The latter is a collection of solo songs. The song by this pair in "Kalaikoil" Thangaradham Vandhadhu is a rare gem.
  Subbu - The programme "Malarum Ninaivugal" was held at Kamarajar Arangam on18.01.98. PBS was amongst the audience.
  On 26.01.99 PS participated at Rajah annamalai Manram.
  On 31.10.99 and 29.12.1-99, "Iru Imayangal" with TMS was held at Kamarajar Arangam under the baton of UK Murali. Vairamuthu was present at one of the programmes.
  PS still continues on programmes in different parts of Tamilnadu and recently she had a show at Nellore. Presume it must be in Telugu.

  Watch out for the forthcoming issue of "JUNCTION", a fortnight publication from Kumudham. The posters show PS on the cover page with the caption "Kuyil Pesugirathu".
  Kalai - I am not aware of the thread. But they are cassettes from Sangeetha.

  The interview by PS in "JUNCTION" is just a routine one and for PS fans it must be a repetition. For once in this PS has questioned the need to bring in singers from North when talent here is not being used, akin to SPB's question in several of his interviews. Once again this interview proves "Niraintha Kudam Thalumbaathu". Very polite, humble and takes her stature to a pedestal above the world.

  I have been trying to make this point in this forum for the past 6-7 months. Then everyone immediately pounces on me and says "avr, u dont know tamizh, so shut up. U dont know the horror of listening to SS,HH in Tamil". Yeah, but Northies have faced the horror of listening to a number of Southern singers in Hindi. I know what I feel like, when I listen to even accomplished singers like Balamuralikrishna and M S Subbalaxmi spoiling Hindi bhajans and Punjabi shabads, let alone KJY,SPB et al. IMO only Hariharan and Kavitha had perfect enunciation from the southern singers in Hindi and they were royally successful in Hindi, without any bias at all.
  
  KJY and SPB have spoilt each atleast 100-150 songs due to faulty Hindi accent. Then why are people cribbing about the 50-60 odd songs that Sadhana Sargham sings in Tamil (and she is a classically well trained singer). Then immediately the argument follows: Ravindra Jain, Salil Chaudhary took yesudas and so we have to assume that his Hindi wasnt intolerable. O really!! then what about Vidyasagar, ARR,IR, Harris Jayraj and Karthik raaja willingly working with Sadhana in Tamil. If they and the lyricists, directors dont see any harm in this, then whatz ur problem? If u people have a problem with that, then atleast try to understand why Northies crib about Hindi songs being spoilt by Southern singers. (Please do an archival search on any Hindi music forum).
  
  And if people have the right to call this clamouring for Northern singers, I have every right to say that Ravindra Jain unnecessarily clamoured for Yesudas, when far better singers in Hindi were available.
  
  Northies tolerated so many songs b KJY,SPB for (IMO) far too long a time. I am surprised to see the remarks being passed against the handful songs that LM,AB sang in Tamil!! Tolerance indeed! Open-mindedness indeed!
  
  Now I am ready for brickbats and spam mails :-)

  avr, I slightly disagree with you regarding this. If SPB and KJY are not singing hindi songs with proper accent, they should not be encouraged further. If the MD likes their voice very much, let them use effectively for humming kind of songs (like ninaithaale inikum song with lalala / Kallelam song (LRE just humming)). This is not closed mindness. This is more towards perfection. MDs should have some sense on language. Song is not just tune and instruementation.

  AVR, I can't say anything about SPB's or KJY's Hindi pronounciation as I am not a native Hindi speaker. So it is difficult for people like us to see the fault in their accent. If what Northies feel about their pronounciation is true, then it is better to use a singer with better command over the language, or 'the MDs must take the effort in correcting them' if they prefer them for some reasons. The same rule applies to those who spoil tamil or in that case any other languages!
  As GR said, this is concerned more with preserving the beauty of the language and definitely not to be blamed as narrow mindedness. Already the satellite channels are harming the languages in the name of style!

  If that is so, then it is fine with me :) Its okay with me if you apply the same yardsticks to both the situations - southern singers in Hindi, or Hindi singers in tamil.

  good to know that avr :) So kalai, I don't see anything wrong in PS' complaint about MD's bringing singers unfamiliar with Tamil to tfm. It makes more sense than accusing the singers for poor pronounciation. After all giving quality songs is the main duty of the MDs!
