Who gave more hit songs in First Ten Years - IR or ARR?

  Hi Hi, I think that Kupps does not know logic well. Why is the unnessecary involvement of ARR and acting ? Why doesnt kupps deal with music and the main topic ?
  
  Just like Rajini's films tickets are sold out long before, ARR's songs hit the shelves and are sold out in the samme day.
  
  I think Kupps need to be admitted to School again for learning Logic.

  Any way the answer is obviously IR, his old songs are still a treat to ears, such as the genius SPB,& SJ, KJY songs, but IR new songs that is, the songs that came after the introduction of third grade feminine nasalists like Hariharan, Shanker, Udit, srinivas ........ect, sound a bit weired apart from "kakai sira kinele", where the majority of songs sung by SPB, it is not always MD who makes the songs hit, but the singers have an enormous impact too, imagine if any of the third grade singers (HH,Udit,Shanker,Srinivas) had sung shankaraparanam, it would suited the heroine more rather than the hero.
  
  Even though Shankaraparanam's MD was world famous carnatic musician, KVM, Had spb not sang the songs it would never have been a hit, even greats like M.rafi, KJY, Ghantasala are no much for this genius most divine voice!

  Digression:

  arr may be a good MD but he is definitely not as popular as rajinikanth.
  
  Although it is ridiculous to compare rajini and arr. It is the euqlqnt of the cliche apples and oranges.
  
  You have to understand that in the list of priorities always in and film world is
  
  1)On screen stars
  Back ground techies:
  2) Film directors
  3a)Play Back singers
  3b) MD's
  
  It is only recently that the BG people have started getting media attention. munnadi ellam mgr /sivaji padam illai kamal/rajini padam.
  
  mathavangellam was for media analysis only rarely among public.
  
  (IRfans + ARR Fans + deva fans + misc)* .8 = Rajini fans
  
  Rajini was in contention for CM's post. ALl ARR's tunes will be mindblowing in Bose system. But imagine it being played in that conical speaker in front of a hair cut shop. A song that sounds good there is the song that will wash down well with the masses. need to understand the C center psycology!

  Sure, u realise how difficult it is to compose songs according to someone's image!!!(and if possible, at the same time, be creative!!!). In this aspect, we know the kind of justice SPB cld do (which nodoby else cld) singing to Rajini, Kamal and almost all other heroes all these years, and we also know who has been the MD for most of these movies:-)

  just a curious question if maruthi says no one has ever done good music for rajini and all the people who have done music for rajini movie are totally junk. would u believe him!
  
  so u will take maruthi's word but only for ur advantage and u will ignore the rest!
  
  why bring spb here. Its not as if spb is ignored by 1 MD he is is ignored by all MD's now! why talk abt him here?

  That shows either you are not professional or you are not capable of doing it, or not good in communicating. Common man if you are in profession, you need to meet the demands and the requirements. If you dont want to do it, dont do it. Thats better than doing a design with flaws which is more dangerous.

  To Bharath, I thought u were only needed a few years of schooling in LOGIC, but now I think that u need schooling in Maths as well.

  I never said that ARR dint put good music for SS but he would have been better if he had been allowed to work on his own.
  
  SS allowed IR to put his own tune for one song in Veera and so Konji Konji became a great hit.(atleast this is what the magazines say)
  
  If SS allows ARR to put his own tunes for his music then it would have been a better hit.
  
  SO DEFINETLY SS MUST ALLOW ARR TO USE HIS OWN TUNES - OFCOURSE ARR WILL TAKE CARE THAT IT IS ENTIRELY NOT OFF SS's IMAGE... ( i mean that he will definetly not make SS dance to pachai niramae )

  This scene is surely changing - atleast to some artists. Ofcourse ppl dont go to watch movies because of background techies or play back singers...
  
  They go by Heroes, Directors and also by MD.
  
  For example take RHYTHM. PPL went to the movie based on ARR and the Nature songs ( RHYTHM went on to become the most sold cassette in the history of TFM. One single room audio shop guy sold 20,000 cassettes ).
  
  SO WHAT I SAY IS THAT MD ALSO CONTROL PPL FLOCKING TO THETRES.
  
  JUST IMAGINE SEEING MINNALAE WITHOUT SONGS THREE TIMES.

  to ur curious Q: no hidden meaning in what i said. no pun intended. not that i believe "ARR doesnt like to compose to RAJINI". but the fact is, there are more restrictions for a MD composing for such actors. in fact, i believe ARR will enjoy it better given more freedom as he is used to it.
  
  Happened to take SPB and (indirectly) IR's name just to lay more emphasis on versatility as a factor to feel more comfortable. Was certainly not linking it to any other thread:-)

  IR gave more number of hits in first 8 years than ARR. for ARR the first ten years are not yet over and the way he is going it will take a hell lot of effort for him to cover IR's ground, not to mention the number of musical flops ARR has had. Besides ARR has to give hits like salangai oli, sindhu bharavi, Unnal mudiyam thambi, chinna thambi, agni natchitaram, alaigal ovithilai, chippikul mutthu etc (besides the number of classic hits in telugu and malayalam in the first 8 years) which are evergreen hits beyond time and generation.
  Granted ARR's music is hip and suits the current generation who wants digitally recorded synthesizer music , which they can play at max volume on their speakers. There should be some music which reflects our moods and tantalizes our senses. As far as I know only around 10% of ARR songs fit that category(Roja, Pudiya mugam, thiruda thiruda, duet are the only ones i can think of ). The point is ARR's movies are hit but for how long does that effect remain. They have to be hits that we can always fall back on any day. I hope ARR can be more careful in his future projects and give more hits.

  Perfectly true. If not for Raja, where was Mike Mohan and his movies? All the kOvai thambi movies were not masterpieces of film-making - they were just passable as movies. But Raja's music elevated Mike, kOvai thambi and a host of others to a high pedestal.
