Lyricists other than Kannadasan,Vaali and VM

Kannadasan,Vaali and VM had always been the heroes of any discussion thats related to lyrics. Very often lyrics of other kavignars are assumed/mistaken to be written by these 3. This thread is an effort to come out with songs that were written by kavignars other than these 3

  Sujatha described(criticized) how his story "Priya" had been handled in the film: " moola kathai neekapptu upa kathaikal sErkkap pattu 'title' mattum thappithu vanthathu :-) " PA has penned all songs in that film.
  
  "Deepam konda kangal ennai nOkkum kAthilil
  ThAgam konda nenjam enai pArkum jAdaiyil" (hey pAdal ondru) is a good song.
  
  Another song: "KAthalin deepam ondru EtRinAlE en Nenjil" (Thambikku entha Ooru). I think it’s by PA, pl.correct me if I’m wrong.

  Palanibharathi's songs are comparatively OK. "MAlai en vEhani Koottuthadi, kAthal than vElaiyai kAttuthadi" (sEthu) is a good one. Of late IR has dropped vali and joined hands with others it seems. Nanintha Tamil kEttu salitha kathukalukku konjam viduthalai :- )

  Does anyone know how many songs Kovi. Manisegaran has written for TFM? I have heard that he wrote "Maanikka maamani maalayil" a great SPB solo from Thennangkeetru, a 70s film. Also, did Kovi write "Oh Vaanambaadi" from Saadhanai?

  kaNNan enna sonnaan. I think that song
  also was penned by Kovi Manisekaran. I forgot
  the movie name. My guess is

  Abdulrahuman humbly denied when he was called for TFM, "Ammi kothuvatharku Sirpi Etharku?” Need not write anything, that reply itself is equivalent to 1000 songs. But finally Gnanakoothan has been roped into TFM it seems. Still I’m not sure about his contribution in “heyram”. Since he has stepped into TFM it's his responsibility now to create a good impact over Tamil cinema songs. Also for equating abdhulrahuman's worthy reply he has to write at least 1000 songs. That's additional responsibility :-) But the question is how far he can adjust with these people and sustain in TFM?

  Though Abdhulrahuman doesn't write anything for films his ideas have been perceived by others in many songs. Actually all (including VM) should pay him ‘royalty ‘for this as we pay tax here in US :-)

  JK penned 'KaNdathai choolukiren' and 'vEru Idam thedi povALo' for Sila NerangaliL.. (the first was originally published in his literary magazine Jnana Radham). He also wrote 'Nadigai PArkkum natakam' for Nadigai Natakam parkiraL. One more interesting song he wrote was for his 'Pudhu Cheruppu' (still languishing in the cans for the past 15 years or so) is 'ChitthirappO selAi' (sung melodiously by SPB). This was also published first in Jnanaratham.

  I think Mu.Metha has written some songs for 'Thirunelveli'(not sure). If he takes firm decision he can achieve something in TFM. It's worth mentioning PB's 3 songs from Kannukul Nilavu. " Nilavu PAttu", "Roja PoonthOttam","Iravu Pagalai thEda"

  One good song in AA.Raj(who worked with TR in Oru thalai ragam) music "Poove Nee yaar solli yarukkaka malarkinray?". Another song in IR music "Oru Naali malarnthEnE valarnthEnE." Both are sweet in SJ voice. Any idea abouth the lyricist?

  There was one great Tamil Poet 'Kavi KAA.Mu.Sherif' the following songs we always mistake to be by others:
  
  1. Erikkarai mele poravale pen maile
  2. chittu kuruvi chittu kuruvi seithi theriuma?
  3. Annayaip pol oru theivam illai
  4. Vaalnthalum esum Thaalnthalum esum
  5. Naan petra selvam nalamana sevam
  6. Panam panthile gunam kuppaile
  7. Onru serntha anmbu maruma
  8. Vaanil oru nilavaik kanden nilathil oru pennaikk kanden
  9. Oorar urangaile uttrarum thoongaile
  10. Matha pitha guru theivam

  Pre era of Kannadasan has to be discussed in detail. Esp. Udumalai narayanaKavi, Maruthakasi, and others. I am curious to know about the lyricist of Chidambaram Jayaraman, KR.ramasamy songs :-) CSJ used to sing for Sivaji, MGR in their earlier days. One good song from Parasakthi : "Intha peNNIn manasa thottu pOravarE.." It's a pleasant surprise to hear few lines in Sivaji’s own voice “ Anbu kayiRithu than Ithai aRukka yAralaum AkathammA “
  
  I guess MalaikaLLan story was wriiten by Namakkal Kavginar ve.Ramalingam pillai. Another good song: Ethani kalam than Emamtruvar intha nattilE? (sure, he didn’t write for cinema :-)). Hope in the future some one who is interested in this area will take efforts and write more about other poets. Avarukku En vanathanam :-)
