Can any HCIRF please enlighten this poor soul?
1.How many movies have run simply because of IRs rerecording?
2.Has he managed any recognition at the state, national,Asian, international levels for his BGM ?
3.Has he won any awards (say like Filmfare,Zee ,IIFA etc ) for his BGM?( i hear Adhesh Srivatsava won a Filmfare or Zee award for his BGM in "Border")
4.Who would you rate as the other good BGM scorers at the national ,international levels? (apart from the staple answer "Nobody")-[This is just to determine where he stands vis-a-vis "Them"]
5.Why is he not getting offers to score BGM for Hollywood movies when his credentials are extraordinary as per your judgement?
6.Are there any awards instituted by our govenments for BGM ...like the ones for special effects, editing? If they exist has he won anything? If it does not why don tyou guys make a representation to the government?(But if the Governement accepts your representation and gives the award to some other MDs .....)
7.Mention some scenes wherein without his BGM the scene would have fallen flat pulling down the whole movie.
8.Are there any movies by other MDs in which the BGM was ...say..Ok!?
I shall request all non-IR fans not to post in this thread.Lets listen!

Kaumudi i agree with your fair review. When people wear black glass everything will look black. If only IR get the amount of time and equipments the hollywood composers get sure he can come out with wonderful BGM. Here he has to score music for songs, BGM. On top of that so many movies in an year. Inspite of that he came out with heart warming music in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. It needs little more broad mindedness if not musical sense to appreciate the works of IR. I am glad i am one among the millions who appreciate his BGM works in movies.
Fair anaylsis means there should be no prejuidice.
It should not be influenced by what HCIRF say and HCARRF say or HC**** say... But some people clearly admit that their reviews are influenced by prejuidice. So their reviews lose credibility instantly. statements like "HCIRF drives me nuts thats why i say bad about IR" make your argument very weak. It all started with me seeing the movie Ninaithale Inikkum. When i saw the movie i instantly felt he could have put little more effort in BGM. It was not MGR/SIVAJI era after all. It was Rajini/Kamal era. Importance to BGM had already started. So being an IR fan, i expected some kind of BGM in some places. It gives all the more depth. If i never had heard IR music, i wouldn't have noticed at all. These are all some finer points which make your movie watching experience all the more fun and entertaining and involved. I should have added the word IMHO MSV missed his mark in NI. But i never expected ARR fans will be going after me.
Hope the thread ends with this. He was a complete Music Director who gave his best to all the Directors. He reduced his movies after the arrival of his sons. He has one of the largest fan base in TFM. As much as Rajini kanth. Hope he continues his good work.

Kiru
That is exactly the point. Look at the amount of fans IR created just with his BGM's. People to my knowledge started talking about BGM's only after IR's entry (including magazines).
That is his achievement and that is bigger than any award.
Ofcourse this does not mean that others are bad. But IR was the pioneer in letting even a common man talk of BGM's.

Lajja BGMs have been added to raajangahm website.
May be it is an old news.. I found just now. I also read the article prasanna on IR. It is nice that they have given space to add prasanna's favorite IR songs. Don't come at me if this news is very old...

Awe..it appears so. there seems to no genuine intention (at least from what I read in the head message and few blunt, hurting responses) Some feel happy any way.

I read the article of Prasanna. He gave a wonderful performance when he was in IIT in our college festival during my college days. There was this medley given by three IITians they started with some tamil song(i forgot) from some song then swithced to the song "Khambe Jaisi Kadi Hai" from the movie "Dil" then finally finished it with "Viswanathan velai venum" from "Kadhalikka Neramillai". It was a delightful treat from them. If you listen to both of them both songs beautifully merges.

Can anyone please tell which films (ofcourse other than sitara) ran just for the BGM?
If movies can run for BGM alone then all the 800 odd movies should be a superhit.
A munimaa, pichaandi, paanjai may say this
munimaa"inaaa style kaamichirkkaar super shtaaru..padam bullaa thathuvam aatha paasam..kannu azhudhiruchu kaNNu aaha'
pichaandi'ada gopaalu mumtazkkaagave indha padam sooblee hit'
paanjali'pattellam superakkaa ..nee poi padam paaru naan garaanty'
But never heard anyone saying
'rasini azhuvira scenele raaja violin vaasichirkaar paaru .kannile thanni pichikichu adhukkaagave 2aam aatam paarkaporen'
'kamal sandai podare scenele hungryo somberiyo aaLunga music vachu raaja kizhichittar'

You are right. No movie (not even Sitara) did well just because of BGM. And no, no Indian music director has won awards/accolades solely for BGM. And no, Raaja will not get international acclaim for his re-recording ever.
This is all the more reason Raajas care for re-recording deserves appreciation. Even though it is a thankless job, he takes immense care. No other music director in India now (barring Sandeep Chowta) bothers to spend time and energy on BGM (Rahman included - I've read an interview of his where he said he does not bother too much about BGM because no one notices anyway). This attitude is very typical of Raaja for those who know him - he does music because he loves it!
And because he took so much interest, Raaja's ability in re-recording has increased manifold since his Annakili days - he improves every day. And whether you like the man or not, you have to give it to him : He is the best in the BGM business. And he will be the best, for a while at least, since the other MD's just dont care.

"No other music director in India now (barring Sandeep Chowta) bothers to spend time and energy on BGM (Rahman included - I've read an interview of his where he said he does not bother too much about BGM because no one notices anyway). "
Karthik, you pathetic liar! ARR has said no such thing, ever. And I've read every single interview of his. If you have to resort to slander to support your case for IR you may want to re-consider your position. Come out of cuckoo-land, man.
"And because he took so much interest, Raaja's ability in re-recording has increased manifold since his Annakili days - he improves every day"
Nonsense, every day his formula of strings, flutes and dated drum loops gets more annoying.
