Naveen: If you don't have a pop filter, use a metal hanger and a panty hose. Twist the hanger around to make a circle and slip the hose around the frame. It is a very effective pop filter.

Naveen: I still think you could have a better use for the $26.95 + taxes, that you spent on getting an "authentic" pop filter:-)

rajag, i agree cost cut idea, but few of the lady singers whom i worked felt odd to stand in front of it to sing :), this happened once or twice :)

Comment: They may have felt odd because you asked them to spare one before started to sing. Next time, have it ready:-) :-)

Comment:
I have been meaning to write this for a long time. In these days of composing with electronic drum kits, it is very easy to fill the bars with standard, off the shelf patterns of percussion beats. I would say that even ARR, IR, and all the big names most times cannot bring about a live playing effect when they use an electronic kit. A live player, contantly experiments and improvises, to the fault of almost being fickle minded. One may not agree with everything the live percussion player includes in a song, but one will always get "that extra special feel" which only a live player can bring.
In many of your compositions, I have noticed that you bring that live play feel. I have seen you at work and I know that you consciously try to build that feature in your compositions. In the area of bringing the live play feel, among the musicians I have heard including ARR and IR, you are exceptional. I wanted to recognize that here. Keep up the great work.

g, thanks for your compliements, encourages me a lot to work more....
I attribute this to my gurus, as far as drum programing goes, I consider guitar parasana my teacher, I have worked with him in just few recordings and learnt tons from him, he used to tell me about this, based on his talks in this regard, I developed this habit,
One golden rule I developed for me is never play more than 4 drum sounds at a time, drummer has only 2 hands and 2 legs :)

RajaG:
Great Compliments for Comment. Even I feel the same. I always felt his music is something very special and I was always mentioning about this that it's just not because of his electronic gadgets. Since you worked closely with him, you must be knowing a bit more than us to give such a good compliment.
Comment! Great Man, slowly this thread is getting dedicated for discussing your works.
This thread concludes your Graduation from Amateur to Professional.
All the Best.
Regards,
Aditya

A master piece. After a long long time, I am hearing a smooth flowing Carnatic piece without distraction. Fully satisfying. One of the best musical tributes to Bharatiyar. I can see that in the past year, your musical muscles have become very well integrated. Amazing!
Vidhya, great singing! Keep it up!
On the overall, Excellent production.
As Aditya says, you belong to Professional league.

Folks:
Please give me your opinion. I have never worked till now on the vocal based songs - always I had instrumental version. Before I learn to make it, and invest on some particular audio processor and microphones, I need your feedback.

Naveen, I need to learn how to mix and use electronic gadgets to make a professional recording. And this is one of such excersises on the Technology. Before I understand them completely I won't be able to provide a completely meaningful work. Bear with the snippets of music. It's a never ending learning.

Thanks Comment. By seeing you guys doing good things, I got inspired a lot in using vocals - I am in the process of making a full song. Can you comment on the quality of the recording in terms of clarity and on effects used subtly! I am planning to evaluate Roland VP - 9000 ( Variphrase Audio Processor ) at my friend's studio next week.

Aditya

Aditya, just a suggestion: When you use sustain the guitar, dont use sustain on all the notes. If you play the guitar, you usually play only a few open strings. Sustain only those. I am telling you this because I can listen to all the notes and they sound a little muddied.

Folks:
I have tried a complete song with vocals. I almost felt like a walk on the string before I learnt to walk on the ground. Anyway give a try. BTW, vocals are mine - there's definitely a lot of scope for improvement. Currently there are no lyrics. I wish somebody can pen down simple lyrics so that it becomes more meaningful. I have a Piano Version of this song too ( that's where I started before putting vocals to it ). My another wish was "If Naveen Could play this Piano Version - how good it sounds?". Am I greedy:-))

Hey man,
You have played piano well. There is no need to play this piece again by me. Anyway thanks for asking me. Let me know if you could imagine something but cannot play in piano as you wish.
I can help you. (but please don't imagine a Franz Listz kind of piece!!)
