UV and BB:
I don't know if you've heard a violin piece in SwarnaKamalam, telugu movie...where a violinist goes and play a piece of music - ask girl's father that this is all I have, can I marry your daughter...That piece was played by VSN in the recording...when I asked him to play something that he likes...he played this for me and explained the greatness of the composer...Amazing I felt...Though I am not a tamilian...I felt proud of these tamil musicians:-)) I heard from him directly that the IR's symphony was really recorded with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra...It's Amazing work according to him.
I recorded 5 minute of his video. I am scared what would they feel if I am going to post our casual meeting...I will still like to ask their permission for posting on this website. I hope it will not be a problem for them.
PS: I can make it available for you guys to dowload and watch for your pleasure.
Regards,
Aditya

I met them during lunch time...and it was one on one...and only we three:-)) Good Musicians and absolutely down to earth...I didn't want to get back to work...but:-))

Even if somebody rephrases and ask like a quesion "Do you really have a reason to get excited?", I would say Yes...This meeting has a purpose:-)) and besides that I am a FAN of these GREAT Musicians - Excitement is simply because of that purposeful meeting happens to be with my FAVORITE Musicians.
Coming back to your song...Again I am very impressed with this track. Kapi + Hamsadhwani -> tastefully mixed to make a newer melody...Creative Melody. Rhythm stuff is also well programmed. Keep it up.

Aditya

Thanks for reminding that violin solo piece in Swarnakamalam. That was a lovely piece. Also, do you know if VSN played all the solo pieces for IR....one situation that comes to my mind is in Sagarasangamam (salangai oli) where there is a a solo violin piece playing throughout the movie for romantic(??)scenes between Kamal and Jayaprada.
I am glad you got to meet them, that must have been a memorable experience.

Kaumudi:
Shekar told me that VSN had played for IR all the time till today and even tomorrow only VSN...
That's a Musical Bond...
I am sure Salangai Oli must have been played by VSN none else. That reminds me another situation in that movie...Mom and Uncle of Kamal will be in the train passing by a station where kamal was supposed to meet them...They wait for a while but kamal arrives at the last moment when the train was about to leave...Mom gives his some money like 10Rs or so...When train leaves, friend of kamal just make a comment that "you are supposed to earn for mom", then kamal feels guilty and run after the train and returns the money to mom...watch carefully violin piece played in BGM by VSN and the great composer of all the time.
I don't care if people remember him or not, whether he's recognized well or not, or whether the composer was an egoist or not...but his music rocks...
This piece of music and that situation is something that will make rock hearts melt...
I am proud of these Musicians...

I did meet IR,but not in his music studio, but in a different environment, more than 6yrs back.
He is a very humble and approachable person comparte to the so many carnatic musicians I have met and associated with.(sorry its not my intention to kick up controvesy, but some bad taste/experiences)
Love to meet VSN.
WCM as such is dying dont think.
Atleast here and europe you still have lot of concerts going on,but back home those who play are very few and there is no oppurtunity for them
very sad state indeed.

Learned Musicians are like pot with full water...so the water will never shake and spill out:-)) It's only the half baked musicians who will have half water filled in...easy to spill out the water...
I met both IR and ARR -> Down to earth Musicians.
BTW you can't generalize anything based on our experiences...we don't know how these musicians deal with equals:-))

Talking about VSN: I enjoyed his score in the movie "Pasa MalargaL" which came in 1993. Here is a link which discussed about his solo efforts in TFM. Looks like he did visit TFM page some time in the year 2000 and talked about one of his upcoming albums "RESONANCE"

He told me that he visited this website couple of times...indeed he remembers the thread name too:-))
In looks he was like some Saint who can play violin. When I went into his host's home...I heard somebody was practicing up the violin - that's our VSN - that was another feast later learnt that it was from the upcoming album - Dedicated Artist...I waited about 5 min and he arrived.

I enjoyed the following lines of your melody...
in Kapi Scale...
Sa Pa .
Ma ga Maa Re Ga ri Sa Ni
Sa Pa .
Ma ga Maa .
then follows with Hamsadhwani Scale avoiding Madhyamam...but follows Madhyama Sruthi of Kapi Scale...Hence it sounds like Sa Ga Ma Pa Da Sa of Nagaswaravali...intentional or by mistake...this is a very creative melody...
Very Nice...Hey you are becoming my favourite:-))

Hi All,
On Oct 19th 2002 --- "Mahaakavi" (my first major venture in commercial music) will be released in Chennai by Shri MSV. This album is a collection of 6 bharathi songs rendered by SPB (2 songs), Srineevas, Rajag, Sujatha and Harish Ragavendra. Backgrounds were recoreded in US in my studio, Vocals were recorded/mixed in Rajeeve menon productions and audiophiles chennai. Audio tape/CD will be distributed by Kriya Kreations chennai, audio company of Smt. Srinithi Chidambaram. Will also be available in my site very soon.
I had a great pleasure in working with the pro's, Thanks to Srinee who has been encouraging me a lot, without his support and help nothing could have been done. Also, I thank all my friends here who have been encouraging me to make it big.
I will also write about my experience working with the pros, working with Spb is the greatest pleasure for a composer.
Samples will be online end of this week.
Thanks.
Srikanth
