Hi All,
Apologise for this sudden and unusual thread.
We have regular contributors and silent watchers in these forums, some new, some have been there since inception of the forums. Today we have a lot of new faces and there will be more.
I am just curious to know about which year/month did you join in the discussions here..
..I still remember chancing upon newtfmpage in Jan 2001 and sparking off a war in the 'IR's latest' thread unknowingly without realizing the ongoing IR-ARR fans blood feud ! A few of the DFers who were around (and are still)around were : kiru (the audiologist), bharath (a new generation fan), swami (sangeetha vidwan and once Bharath's nemesis!), common friend (a balanced fan), ambleen, eden(who got hurt when I said that he was still stuck in the 70s!), Karthik S (the music dealer who can make out a fake from an original!)...and a lot more interesting people that I have not mentioned !
Could you guys/gals tell us when and how you joined the discussions here and also narrate any funny incidents or discussions that had happened ?

aruvi,
1) more than "curry powder" i think its
"puli" (tamarind) that unite tamils... there is nothing without puli in tamil world. "curry powder".. athu vada mozhi chol... atha pathi ellam engalukku theriyaathu.
((( just introducing the "puli" - "curry powder" division to tamils )))
2) chitra is a poor high pitch singer. her voice breaks when she sings high pitch. e.g "anjali anjali .." in duet and "uyire.. uyire" in bombay.
(((ithu enakku kozhuppu jaasthi irukarthunaale)))
P.S: aruvi .. i also forgot to mention.. pombalai pullai'nga ellam kitchen'la karandi pudikka thaan layakku.. internet ellam avangalukku ethukku.. appadinnu rajaG avargal sonnathaaga kelvi ...

Ah! There's an excuse for me to return, if only briefly, to the land of eternal ..well..er..IR-ARR feuds.
How do I start? Hmm.. maybe, the beginning would be appropriate?
(Given my penchant to start at the end, ramble off somewhere in the hinter of the middle, and then pass on to the beginning of any story, that promises to be a tall order, indeed.)
What brought me here? Hmm... an old weakness. For Filter Coffee. There was this gentleman called Srinath serving up hot cuppas of a distinctly pro-IR brew. That, ofcourse, was the concoction(should I say, decoction) that brought me here. Flamed up against a war-paint donning Srikanth and others, who, to be fair ,were only trying to place things in perspective, Srinath was almost single-handedly shooing off all comers in his battle to 'prove' to all and one what was and remains an indubitably unarguable fact - namely, Raja is the Raja!
And there I was, sipping the cuppa day-after-day gleefully, when some quirk of fate or the other pitched me into the middle of the battle. Thus started a saga of long nights and job-less days trying to act as unofficial watchman of newtfmpage.
Those were, indeed, memorable moments.
There were wrong un's, too when a sensitive poster got rubbed the wrong way by an innocous comment putting me under the firing line of the ever-alert Udhaya. A lengthy and hard discussion followed, leaving me the wiser. This started off a discovery of my revered uncle RajaG( To new posters unaware, did you know that the man is old enough to be a grandfather, and I strongly suspect ,is already one ;-) ..Okay, that's just to rile him up...maybe not THAT old ;-) )
who came to my support and the few days that followed were a literal jamboree of fun. BB ofcourse joined in the revelries some times and acted the strict administrator other times.
Not to mention MS and his velaiyathavan ruse!!
I remember starting a thread "identity of veliayathavan" pouring the core of my literary capabilities into it to logically trace the veliaythavan to MS, almost, only for cunning MS to connive somehow to dispose it off down the Niagara falls! IT is another story that, the mask came off pretty soon. Truth always wins, you know ;-)
What characterised the DF, I guess ,those days was a genial atmosphere where the principals, though frequently at loggerheads, never descended to personal remarks. There was generous give-and-take of digs, though, all conducted in perfect congeniality.
Much merry was made between, among others, Sri, MS, King Uncle rajaG, and yours truly.
I even had the pleasure of listening to the sweet baritone of rajaG, thanks to the acuqiantance cemented by the forum.
Then ,work and career caught up and I was sentenced to London - six months without the option in a God-forsaken internet-less workplace- and when I came back, I found myself Rip van Winkle...
been visitng off and on sometimes but the DF fails to inspire..:-(
I am almost tempted to start a thread, you know, like "Golden Age of DF" or something like that. Or, perhaps "Srinath vs Srikanth - who is the better poster" ;-). But then, considering the psoting standard these days, that would be too risky:-)...
Well, looking back at some of the postings in this thread, one thing that certainly pleases is me the few references, so flattering, to me. Some of them even go to the extent of mentioning me as answering Srikanth satisfactorily .. ;-). Well considering my knowledge in music, which is perhaps not even .000001 percent of Srikanth's, it is amusing that such an impression ahs been created . I guess you can fool some people some of the time ;-). Thanks to these guys though . It boosts my ego;-)
Ofcourse, Srinath claiming to be the lengthiese poster...Ah! dear sri, how could you take away my credit...Here's another proof and claimer for the throne!
Well, MS's been in touch sometime back and I was telling him, it doesnt seem like I can register a regular presence here. So, here's then to all my old pals - sorry if I miss a name - Sri, Sriks, Uncle rajaG, NOV, Shankar, Madhan(from Goa),SM(with whom I share a common disapproval of MR!),Udhaya, and ofcourse, MS aka Velaiyathavan.
Special mention to my favourite bunny ARRFan who, I observe wistfully, is no longer among the present here.
Cheerio! hope to catch up again sometime
WARNING: More remeniscences MAY follow!

How could I have missed these people in my list?:-(
BB( my hostel mate!), Eden, Rex, NagaS,Vijay(who advised me to go-easy on Srikanth on the ground that his heart was in the right place(viz-a-viz-IR which is the litmus test for us ) - thus opening up a door to the wonderful indiavision site), SL(and the discussions on IFM in general with him), Cram and any other I may have missed owing to my unfortunately poor memory.
On the flip side, very disappointed at MS missing out mentioning me :-( . not even in the "also to be mentioned" list :-(.
One thing I remember is that for a distinct phase, Srinath and I succesfully converted the forum into what was (enviously, I maintain;disugstingly, claim the opposition!) called the Raja coffee club;-). Boy! Was that fun?!
Soon, ofcourse, we realised the folly and lack of necessity of trying to convince people of your taste. But it was fun while it lasted. No denying that.
BTW, what happened to the "dhjkssdfhsds" thread?

And don't you forget for even one fleeting moment that some of us know very well what or who (endha category appropriate nu neeyE decide paNNikkO) 'attracted' you to London. You don't want me to repost some of those posts, do you? :-)
