This growing issue is BS. Too much BS.
You listen to any idiotic song with no creativity whatsoever for a 100 times, you will definitely start humming it and it will grow and grow. :-) Come on guys. Stop the BS about growing.

Dude,
I don't like all IR songs instantly and in fact I like some ARR songs instantly.
This is the theory given by ARR and I am not fully accepting that. If a song is structured nicely without compromising grammar, you will like it in first instance. I can tell example of that in both IR's and ARR's. I liked "Rakamma Kiaye Thattu" at first instance, even though it was not rehash. So as the case with "Pooralle Ponnuthayi" from Karuthamma, I liked it at first instant even though it was not a rehash.
At the same time, I am not saying ARR can't give songs with nativity. But if you look at the degree of nativity(including recent Virumandi), IR stands first than any other composer for that matter. Nobody might have dared to give a song like "AAtukutti Muttaiittu" from 16 Vayathinile. But if you think about it, you can't call Hariharan to sing for such character.
IR once told about this that his hands are tied in movies as the movie has to confine to situation. He told I have to excell in this limited boundary. But if you consider music albums, one can express their imagination without constraint.
When it comes to music for situation, then compromising nativity is a compromise for other gains. Also this quality of IR is responsible for good BGM's given by him.
With all that I feel ARR can be more successful as well as apt if he starts giving private Music Albums.

This movie's songs arent too native anyways. Cinderella Cinderella by Hariharan is good

Mr.Anbe Sivam,
Why? Do you want IR to have less competition?
Regarding Nativity i agree IR has been more geniune but ARR's score in Laagan, Zubeida, Earth, Iruvar - to some extent were class.
If IR's hands are tied to the scope of the film, ARR's hands are tied to give a commercial success.
Roja sold 20 million copies, so from Shankar to an unknown director of En swase Katre, Rahman is under pressure to give a musical hit, also Rahmans score attracted crowds is also a fact.
eg - Kadhalan, Kadalar dinam, Minsara kanavu are few examples where Songs played a big part in attracting crowds to the movie halls.

;),
I don't want IR to have less competition as I consider that he is almost spent force.
I am telling about where ARR fits better than movie and where he has more freedom to use his ideas.
I mentioned in my earlier post that ARR's audio sales created comparitive revenue to movie itself and hence the compromise is made on nativity.
With him as a path all the young musicians completely ignore nativity for good audio sales.
Also, particularly in Indian movies, directors runs out of different song situations. Same kind of teasing songs, etc. After a while any MD will get frustated by these. IR once expressed this saying that directors ask me never before heard tunes while forgetting to give me never before introduced situations. The same thing will happen to ARR(already happening, I am not seeing one Gentle Man or Kadhalan or Alaipayudhe from his recently) if he stick to Indian movies for ever.
He did WOHE, which is good. He is doing LOTR musical which is great. Paralelly he can take time and give good album. All great musicians like MJ, Elton John, gives only private albums. I am telling in those lines of Private Albums and Musical Videos where time is not a constraint and one can have full liberty. Money is plenty in that so as the fame. People can use those songs as in Holywood movies, if they suit their context.
Even I am thinking IR can try that if he wants freedom. But we have heard his music in too many movies that unless he changes his style it won't appeal in albums. Any he has embarked in project like TIS. One has to wait and see.
Hope I clarified my thought.
