Just imagine MR giving some CD to ARR / IR asking him to compose something similar to that:-)

Do you need proof that IR is not good after 1990?
See my other thread "IRs Best 10 Albums" all 10 moovies are before 1990 - you also accepted 9 of them, and the one replacement suggested by you - "Mudhal Mariyadhai" is also from 1985. Most of the other posters are also listing movies prioir to 1990.
If we take IR 1976-2004, 28 years. 1988-2004 is 16 years... why we have all top Ten from first 12 years...

One more point (out of topic): KB may be "extra-martial affair" guy - his movies also reflected same. But thats his style/specilisation. But he is not Bad.
BR always handled rural love stories... that was his spcialization...
MR handles urban/social issues... thats his style...
Just because "extra-martial", we can not badge somebody bad.

Dorai forgetting his own writing.
All my points were to counter, what you said in one of your earlier postings here:
"KB was never a big director anyways and he is fit for serials and drama type movies only. "
I will Quote the same words, putting emphasis on words which I considered were WRONG!
"KB was NEVER a big director ANYWAYS and he is fit for serials and drama type movies ONLY. "
KB is indeed a BIG Director. He is the ONLY TF Director to have made movies from 60s to 00s. No other director could sustain this level of success to achieve that. He has also been able to identify GREAT talent, launch, sustain them! Again, a mark of a GREAT Director. Tell me, which movie Stars launched by MR/BR been able to achieve success like Kamal/Rajini ? (This point is made to just highlight KB and not to denigrate MR/BR - IMO, they are good as well).
Second - he's fit for serials & drama type movies only. Hwo does that does not make him any less a director/cinema maker. He's from a different generation and in that generation, movies were made like that! Hindsight is always good - in saying that KB didn't make movies like BR/MR. Why couldn't BR/MR make movies like KB? Because, that kind of movies made by BR/MR wont be accepted by audience now. Not that they are not good enough to make it. It's like saying why didn't Rajini act as a Bharatnatyam dancer ? Yours is an illogical argument.
Each one has a style and way of doing things. The the fact he could adapt from 60s till 00s shows, he can make movies for all generations of audiences. My list of movies are NOT 10% of movies -- they are ALL TIME HIT movies (I didn't include movies like Agni Satchi, Thookku Thooki, Major Chandrakanth as they didn't do well/not popular).
'Fess up.

Sriram,
"IR was not giving them enough time and tunes. Please accept they are also big directors. So they went searching for new MDs. IR never turned them away - but gave bad service. "
IR gave great music to KB until his last movie with him(Puthu Puthu Arthangal). For a director like KB, they very much like context sensitive music for their story line. IR did full justice.
In fact, after IR's departure, KB could not give one single hit, not because KB was bad. He did not get the required service.

Anbe Sivam,
I never said IR gave bad music to KB, MR, BR. But do you know what they had to go through get theier tunes in their last movies? I also do not know. Somebody said IR treated them badly. (Guess: Kept them waiting, Wrote lyrics himself, Insisted on using particular singers...)
KB, MR, BR are not idiots to leave IR when they get good music from them. IR thought he has "monopoly" in the field - and people showed him his place.

True Sriram.
When someone tries to exploit his monopoly, he should be given exit, which is what happened to IR.

this reminds me of an incident reported by friday cinema special book of malai malar in 1993......they had reported a cross bet'n kamal and IR,wherein kamal had asked for a tune change (for thevar magan movie) for a certain situation.....where IR replied "change ur situation according to my tune"........

Sriram,
As for BR is concerned, he did not move from IR. Today also he is trying to rope IR for Kallikaatu Idhihasam, where IR did not consent.
With MR, yes there is a clash. Don't know who is wrong as both of them are not talking.
As far as KB, KB thought he was monopoly as well. He never appreciated MSV for giving so many good tunes. He thinks it is just him and his movies are only director movie. IR might have thought the same way about himself. Ego clash resulted in split. I even read a anecdote that he asked IR to give more priority to his movies and finish them earlier than others.
Regarding delay in IR's output, you are the first person to ever report it. Nobody ever complained IR delayed their project.

just a digression...off the topic...
KB is the most brilliant business man...
the way he makes his serial sell...are great..
he direct the first version of a drama...one it's popular...he sells the franchise to another company under the same serial title....and people watch it again & again....!...
this particular concept was not even invented in the west!....

MusicIsLife,
I am sorry if I hurt your feelings. Its is unintentional.
But I have been reading this forum and other forums (NDTV, Raajangham), where I have seen some IR fans have blind following, and they are even ready to insult others to praise IR. I also like IR as a Musician, but not as a person. (another example Lata Mangheskar)
There is no intention to hurt anybody's feelings here. Sorry again.

Sriram,
My aggreement on your 9 out of your top 10 IR albums in yet another thread is still valid. It does not change anything about's IR compositions the post 1990 period.
If you have notice earlier, I had said, the title of the thread should have been 'IR's top 100 albums' just not to miss out all the good ones from IR. There are too many good ones from IR even past 1990 and its tough to include all of them in your top 10.
IR is still the very best of all MDs in TFM including ARR. I am not biased, its by sheer merits of his music. He composes music naturally, with no hype, no unwanted sound (from samples). That makes him unique and unparalled.
Madras Guy,

Madras Guy,
Stop using my name on your postings. Use your real name if you have one.
KB is a over rated over hyped director only popular in the urban class. He was never accepted by rural masses (not because he is super duper). His movies have a tunnelled message/vision for certain sections of the soceity. Whereas BR, MR and other big directors like Mahendran had broader perspectives. They are also technically more competent than KB. Remember KB even refused to make movies in Color for a long time on the grounds that the impact is lost in Color movies.
A good director should be able to give the impact in Color movies better than B/W. His strength is drama type portrayal for which B/W is enough or even drama stage is enough.
Regarding big stars introduced by BR -- Radha, Bhagyaraj, Mannivannan, Radhika, Karthik, Nizhalgal Ravi, Revathi and the list goes on. Directors introduced by him : Mannivanan, Cheran, Baghyaraj, Manobala... Don't forget R.Selvaraj the great story writer (who wrote, 16 Vayathinille, K.P. Rail, P.Varpugal and M.Mariyathai.

Come on Dorai,
Accept if we list Top 10 of IR, there is no movie after 1990. You can make it Top100, Top500 to include recent movies. But his best was before 1990.
