Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”

Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.

Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

  AE is really below expectations.But one cannot say it is bad. it is really good. But since it comes from the Mani Ratnam banner there is a surge of dissapointment.

  That guy's posts signify the desperation to attack ARR. What pisses me off is people are refusing to ignore these morons.
  
  Has he said anything positive? These are the kinds of guys to who you would NEVER say "Machi, Nan pudhu motorbike vangirukken." HE will probably say "Aiyyo, paarthu da accident aagaama oattu!" Full of black liquid in their mind and hearts.

  Listened to Aytha Ezhuthu 3 times.
  
  Well, what to say ...? Only "Yakka thiri" sounded somewhat different and made any impact on me !!
  
  I am really amused to hear comments saying this is ARR's best. I request all those who say that this is his best to listen to "Roja", "Bombay", "Thiruda Thiruda", "Minsara Kanavu" and "Uyire". And, please don't ask me to listen to AY 80 times to let the songs grow on me. I have a job to do and I didn't have to listen to above albums many times to like them. They appealed to me instantly. I drove 3 hours JUST to get hold of "Minsara Kanavu" CD after listening to it from my friends place for two times. But since "Tenali" I haven't even bothered about RA files of ARR songs. But I still have hopes that he might bounce back some time.

  I am realli amused by those ppl who feel that people cant think AE is one of ARR's best or the best. I liked ony a few songs off of each album mentioned by u, and love all 6 songs of AE.sooooo.......ur point was?
  
  different people different tastes and i think ARR is one guy who has the ability to satisfy everyone.for you a KKS for me an AE.

  a perfect album for u would be...ADHITHADI...man wat an orchestration in that UMMAH song...u should be driving 2, 567, 456 hours to get the album from the audio shop next to ur house....just that u go around the whole world before reaching it....:)

  is 50000 a hit? Even I had the same doubt. I think the office boy of sony got it all wrong. If the number is indeed right, then how come audio companies pouring crores for domestic market?(overseas copyrigts sold separately). Are they doing social service or what? There is no tracking of sales of TFM, you have to go by how popular the songs are among the crowd.

  As you rghtly said fans are getting emotional if someone says they dont like AE.
  
  although I dont agree ARR fans do it more. Maybe they are more passionate because they are younger and they come out strongly.
  
  You should also take intoi account the strong language used by people to express the "I dont like it" sentiment. They dont say it in such a way that their opinion can be respected. They come out with derogatory statements and nonsesnse like Thundu, horrible, worst etc. These things obviously deserve a backlash.
  
  But my respects to those who graciously say- hey you know what? this is not my kind of album, i am hardly impressed by the songs...
  
  Haven't heard the songs yet myself. Waiting for the CD to release here in NJ

  Songs are generally noisy. None of the songs impressed me on first listening.

  ARR/MR albums always had something special.
  AE lacks that for sure. It doesn't matter you hear it 200 times, there is nothing special abt this album.
  Not sure why both of them compromised for AE. Is it cos they wanted to cater the Hindi audience as well.

  I think what they wanted to say that an album considered a hit if it sells 50K in 3 days instead of three months..
  
  So compared to a hit album selling 50K in 3 days AE sold 100K..Now this makes perfect sense.

  Yeah a lakh is 5,00,000. And AE doing good business at bangalore as well. Though folks here are more eager about yuva. It doesnt matter anyways. Does it? Yuva or AE, two sides of a wonderful gold coin.....

  But the article clearly says 50000 (50K).. May be they meant 5lakh(500K) in three months..

  Rahman-Mani Ratnam combination has once again struck gold with Aayitha Ezhuthu album. The first three-day audio sales have crossed the magic figure of 1 lakh!
  
  No Tamil film audio has done such fantastic opening sales in recent times. Said a spokesperson of Sony who is marketing the audio: "Aayitha Ezhuthu audio sales is phenomenal at a time when music industry is going through bad times. And people seems to be going crazy about the songs."
  
  Normally a hit Tamil audio sale is around 40,000 to 50,000 units sold over a period of three months. But this audio has created history as it may cross 3 lakhs even before the release of the film and if the film is a hit, it will do business close to 5 lakhs units, something that happened a few years back regularly with audios of Indian, Gentlemen, Roja, Bombay and Alaipayuthe.
  
  The most popular song in the album is Jana Gana Mana sung by Rahman and Karthik followed by Hey Goodbye Nanba sung by Sunitha Sarathy, Shankar Mahadevan, Lucky Ali and Karthik.
