  i'm pretty sure such a ragam exists....when Kunnakudi was confered with the tile "Violin Chakravarthy" by JJ he played that ragam.....

  Earlier i asked another question for which except Ram (who answered a part of it) no one has replied to that. The question i put was
  
  
  is there any connection (raaga / sandham wise) between unnidam mayanguguiraen uLLaththaal nerungugiraen and vannam konda vennilavae vaanam vittu vaarayo.
  
  I especially feel the resemblance in charanam vanji un vaarthayellam sangeedham pakkatthil neeyum illai, though i feel the progession (am i using the right term at correct place?) is bit different.
  
  
  
  u people can't escape so easily from me.

  unnidam mayangugiren is a beautiful melody composed with no particular raga in mind. Both the songs have the same meter and this makes them sound similar. AFAIK the song vaNNam koNda veNNilavE was derived from "jagadhodhaaraNa adisheedhaLA shodha" (knowingly or unknowingly) and it is said to be in Raga peelu. there is no relation between these two AFAI can infer.

  anyway I was jobless (avoiding tension at work)so i was messing with it on the keyboards and while the beginning is common to Rishabhapriya and Harikambhoji:

  Kupps: There is absolutely no sammandham between mukhari and Lathangi.
  
  mukhari sounds a little bit like Bhairavi and Huseni.
  
  lathangi is a Praththimadhyama mela - no connection between the 2. :-)

  IR,I feel there's no Ri in the raaga of "Villinayutha"-Pl. listen again and tell me.If this is right,the raaga is defined by:
  Sa Ga2 Ma1 Pa Ni3 Sa - Sa Ni3 dha2 pa ma1 ga2 sa
  i.e,srothaswini+Dha2 in the avarohanam.

  Guys,
  Whenever I hear a Gowrimanohar piece I could help seeing Kapi's traces in that....in the past,I have asked the same question to a few knowledgable people and their verdict was there isn't any connection....but even today when I heard Kanna Varuvaaya....I could clearly see that it is a GM yet I consisitently saw some kapi's praygams(is that a right word?)....
  IR,MS,Sindhuja and other experts....pls clarify

  Many times i've asked "is there any connection between two songs?" kind of questions. Mostly i got a slap on my face saying that they are set in different raagas only the sandhams are same. What is the difference between a sandham of a song(SOS) and the raaga of a song(ROS). In other words how shud SOS and ROS be identified.

  Heeey!Ram,there DOES seem to be some connection!(Paadi paathu terinjidu)
  KApi:SR2M1PN3S,SN2D2N2PM1G2R2S,GowrimanOhari:
  SR2G2M1PD2N3S,same way back for Avarohanam-since its a melakartha.
  So,u can see there r quite a few notes in common-except N2,everything is common!(that too,KApi also has N3 along with N2)
  Though KApi has both the Ni's,it is listed as Kharaharapriya(which is the N2 equivalent of GowrimanOhari)'s janyam.
