i think "copying" is there for a long time in tamil film history. Here we discuss the tamil songs copied from others.

vijay, if you know to play it on a keyboard, thats a big ask i know, but if you check note to note, i am not that bad to posting something without checking, the pallavis are very really close.
I have checked it few times before i posted it here, I clearly that know many will cross question me. I feel You are having a biased opinion on few, thats all :)

ajlg, its NOT me who is having biased opinion against any MD or anyone here in particular, I post copied songs of ALL MDs..I have posted one of Raaja if you see above..whereas I have not seen you post anything OTHER THAN IRs songs here :-) I dont know who is biased :-)
anyways you expressed your opinion and I expressed mine, thats all..isnt this forum meant for exchanging opinions ? :-) so why get angry or upset if someone questions your opinions? :-)
Also, in your previous post you asked Observer to check for a "sandham match" ..
as for finding out whether the sandhams match or not, one need NOT play it on a keyboard to find that out..just ears are enough :-)
ONLY if you want to compare it note-by-note then a keyboard might help..

Nilaa Kaaygiradhu of ARR seems like a very good inspiration of MS' Bhaja Govindam - the initial brilliant small alaap and the song structure.
Similarly, Suttu Vizhi from Kandukonden Kandukonden seems to be largely inspired by MS' Krishna Sankeerthanam.
Well, that was the divine voice of MS not many can resist, can they!
...ur thoughts.

if positings about raja songs makes you think i am biased, i cannot help.
There are tons of people including you who post about other mds, why should i bother.Secondly it can also be thatI hear more raja than anyone else.
i agree 100% you are an unbiassed person and you know that sandam cannot identified without a keyboard. Now if possible tell me how do you do it. if you are not interested, I like to drop of it right here. Dont respond to my postings again.
so long.

Vijay, I will listen to those songs and get back. I do not remember a humming in the prelude in the Hindi song.
O_IS_G, you are referring to 'tujhE jeevan ki dOr sE bAndh liyA hai' from 'asli naqli', which is similar to 'unai eththanai murai pArththAlum'. Right ?
VijayBhaskar's 'maNi viLakkE mAnthaLirE' has the same tune as O.P. Nayyar's 'pukArthA chalA hun main'. This was pointed out to me by another poster. The tune is the same but the metre is different and the pace faster.

Observer, listen to latas version not rafi's..there is no humming in that song, just the slow start leading to the pallavi..
ajlg, I cant understand what you are saying. I should'nt respond to your posts? why?
as for me finding sandhams, I do not go about applying any rules to find them..just listening to the respective songs is enough.. how do you identify copies? do you actually play the song everytime on your keyboard? NO! likewise, you need NOT use a keyboard to find sandham matches..
if you are having diffciulty just substitute the words in lyrics and use something like "thanna", "nanna " etc. in place of those words and sing the respective lines to yourself..
it should be easily obvious..

Vijay, I will listen to it tonight and let you know. Thanks.
Jatin-Lalit's 'main kOi aisA geet gaoon' has a violin prelude that comes in the interlude of 'vAn mEgam pooppoovA' (punnagai mannan). Is it a case of copying from a common source or copy by Jatin-Lalit. I am tilting slightly towards the latter because another song in the same movie, 'jAtA hai thoo kahAn' has its second line very similar to IR's 'veLLai purA ondru' (the line 'namathu kathai'). Maybe Jatin-Lalit were listening to an IR cassette.

The typical rock-and-roll movement has been incorporated in old HFM twice, first as the pallavi of 'AnkhOn mein tum dil mein tum hO' (Half-Ticket) by Salil Choudhry and as that for bass in 'mErA nAm chin-chin-choo' by O.P. Nayyar. Guess what is the tamil song it comes in ? Yes....the prelude guitar piece in 'rum pum pum Arambam'.

Mani Vilake - is from Vairam ( Jayalalitha -Jaishankar)the remake of a hindi movie (Victoria 302 or something like that). The music is by TR Papa and not vijaya Bhaskar.
Mr.Observer,Thankx .My Hindi never crossed the "Yah Kya Hai" " Yah Kalam Hai" stage. It is indeed that Dev anand song.
Still no sign of S Karthik.
Jatin Lalit are the Hindi version of SA Rajkumar.
Recycling their own and lifting RDB all the way.
Hum Kisi Se.. song Bachunna Ye Hasee.. is used as Ruk Ja in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.In Hindi you can lift any tune and say "Me Panchamda ka fan hoon" or"Naushadji ka fan hoon"."Uske Gane sun sun ke me sangeet seekliya!" Shameless Pirates!
Anand-Milind even got a filmfair award for Dil where they have even copied our homegrown copycat SG. Actually they should have won a national award for Tu..Tu ..tu Tara which they claimed as their original!(the whole world knows that it is Raakamma Kaiye Thattu")
I saw the same trend is emerging here."ManiSharma is IR's fan,SAR is IR fan.. "so they can lift his tunes and claim immunity.

Interestingly Raakaamma Kaiya thattu has inspired even MSV-TKR!The song "Sriraman Seedhaikkuthan" from "Engiruntho Vanthan" is certainly inspired by Raakamma Kaiye thattu!(Satyaraj movie..slated as MSV-TKR's come back movie)

Observer, not surprised at those Jatin-Lalit lifts..did you know that "jaana suno ham tumpe" from Khamoshi is an EXACT replica of an old english song? :-) It was a great find, mentioned at this site by Kartik
http://www.iespana.es/i2fs/
the site is a pretty decent one, check all the old hindi and tamil songs lifted..interesting is the "anubhavam pudhumai " song from Kaadhalikka neramillai whose original has been mentioned there..cannot make a really strong case for inspiration, IMO, but nevertheless the second line of pallavi in the tamil song matches that in the original very closely.. our MDs sure listen to a wide variety of sources :-)

O_IS_G, 'maNi viLakkE' is from 'unnaiththAn thambi', VB is indeed the composer.
Most old HFM lovers would have heard Naushad's 'chchOd babul ka ghar' from 'Babul', sung by Shamshad Begum. IR's 'vaigai nathi Oram's pallavi (Rickshaw Mama) is a note to note copy of the Hindi song's with just the pace quickened.
The charanam of 'oru malligai mottu' (ranga rAttinam) (Shankar-Ganesh) has nearly the same tune as 'yeh jO muhabbath hai's (kati patang) (RD Burman). Even the violin passages within the charanam are very similar. Certainly a case of something more than an inspiration but less than a copy :).

V. Kumar's 'madanorstavam rathiyOduthAn' (SPB-VJ) has the same santham as Bappi Lahiri's (OH!! GAWD!!!) 'mAnA ho tum' (KJY)

I was listening to the "Mun Paniya" song from Nandha. It has striking similarities to the song "poongaatrile" from Uyire .. Also with the starting part of "velli malare" from jodi ...
Moreover, in that song, there is a chorus which goes like "Kadala thaandi vandhadhu edhukku, kannukkule oru ragasiyam irukku"... It sounds very similar to the lines " Thirumana vaazhkai Total waste (oo), ennakadhil inimel illai taste(oo)" from the song "rukku rukku rukku" in Avvai Shanmugi...
Someone is copying from Deva, for a change :o)

Isnt Adityan's 'Azhagoviyam uyirandhu' from some Murali-Arun Pandian movie based on the same tune as 'madanorsavam...' and 'maana ho tum...'?
O IS G: I've been looking for the original of Shaan's title song too. I've just reached the stage where I came to know that it is some song by Donna Summers! No further info yet!

I have seen this posting on many threads that Mun paniya resembles Velli MAlare or Poongaatrile.I have to say I beg to differ.Just because a song is in the same raga, how can you say that it has striking similarities?I didn't see anything of the sort on the song.
Also the rukku rukku song is in Sahana raga which has absolutely no relation to the mun Paniya raga.

Guess who :
Its inspired from interlude of Anbae Anbae (Jeans). The interlude where the chorus goes 'koLuthu vaitha poove poove avan koonthal maNam solvAyO....' The rest of the song as you said is heavily inspired from Aey Ajnabi (Dil Se).
No case of "similar raaga" or anything. This is a case of clear and deliberate inspiration.

OfCourseNot,
Im only talking only abt the chorus when i made a reference to that rukku rukku song... The mun paniya tune may be of a diff. raga but that chorus resembles the Avvai shanmugi song...and also the "koduthu vaitha poove poove" chorus as PKS pointed out...(Didnt notice that the first time around ... thanx PKS )
