6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!

Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

Mani Ratnam’s bilingual - Yuva in Hindi and Aayitha Ezhuthu in Tamil - has been torn by critics and savaged by his colleagues in the industry but at the box office, the films have taken a bumper opening.
In Bangalore, both the versions have taken an extraordinary opening in 30 screens with 93 percent occupancy for the weekend setting a new record.
In Mumbai and New Delhi multiplexes, the week-end tickets of Yuva were sold out in advance and in US the film has done $ 200,000 in the opening weekend.
Back home in Chennai Aayitha Ezhuthu has registered 100 percent opening at all the five theatres, thanks to the brand equity of Mani Ratnam which was able to get the film such a good opening.

Alaipayuthey: The ANRUM INRUM treatment was first done by MARMA DESAM serial.
Ayutha eluththu treatment is nothing but "Amores perroes" Mex. Film.
No doubt ayutha eluthu has a style. BUT not original one as HINDU says.
Mani Ratnam is very good in seeing VIDEOs of foreign language to adopt to tamil thats why he is not watching tamil films - as he says.
Bala, Kamal are better directors than MANI.
Mani ratnam is a MBA who doesnt care about copy right acts BUT screams about video piracy at chennai burma bazaar.

The 'Asian Age' in it's weekly boxoffice report by Komal Nahata says Yuva is a losing proposition in most territories except Mumbai,Pune&the west region. As an example it says the Delhi-UP distributor bought the film for 2.11 crores&is likely to lose about a crore. He recommends that Mani refund some money as he has already made a neat profit b4 release&so by refunding ,distributor losses are curtailed&Mani will still make a profit albeit a smaller one.Now with 'Sify' saying AE is not a losing venture once again the south has proved that they are more open to experiments. But what i found funny was Mr.Nahata's statement that the people rejected the movie because it was confusing,Now AE according to me has a very simple mode of narration:3 people getting involved in an incident, brief charcter sketches of those 3&how they came to be involved&the movie moves towards the climax. Are we a nation of dullards that we can't understand such simple things.Virumandi's screenplay was more complicated as the viewer spends about 45min not knowing what's happening, only when Kamal starts his version do things fall in place.Imagine if Kamal had made the same in Hindi, maybe they would have said Kamal does not know how to make a film at all?

MORAL OF THE STORY
REVIEWERS HAVE THEIR OWN CONCERN ABOUT MAKING BUSINESS AND MONEY...THAT IS THEIR BUSINESS COMMENTING........IF PPL THINK THAT COMMENTATORS, REVIEWERS, POLL PREDICTORS ARE DOING SOCIAL WELFARE THEY WILL BE MORE STUPID THAN AMBLEEN,NATTAMAI,ASWATHAMAN ETC.,

simple
1) get a skinny & slim babe
2) dress them down
3) add spicy scenes...

I thought thats what Maniratnam tried with Rani Mukerjee and Kareena. Still that formula didn't work in the Box Office. Maniratnam should learn film making from Ram Gopal Varma..Watch Company, Road, Bhoot very very different genre..thats what Maniratnma movie lacks..also originality..

Wondering,
I'm surprised.. I thought U'd have wanted Mani to learn from Selvaraghavan. But then it's enuff for Mani to get to RGV's level isnt it? Selva's a bit too high for him. :)

If you watch Maniratnam movies he has some link with hospitals... one or the other will be either hit, or shot or illness will stay in a hospital..his name should be entered in guinness for lousy film making, stealing scenes and using it in his movies, and hospitals in every movie..

Thamizhan:
---We were talking abt Mani and kamal in recent times....
I don\'t think anyone including Mani in India will accept their inspirations themselves unless they get caught. Did Mani give the info voluntarily or responded to the question specifically asked with AP reference? There lies the difference. If mani accepted himself, you can criticize Kamal. Or else I don\'t see a point on your stand.

---SHEKHARS Paani gets picked by Lord of the Rings producer
Aiyo paavam. Thundu will be delivered to Shekar and LOTF producer by ThunduBhai for sure!
---he he he u know how those directors make a hindi movie
One more generalization. How can you forget about directors like Farhan Akhtar in hf? I think Farhan Akhtar is much better than Mani! Just wait for LAKSHYA, it is going to be a well made movie and hit for sure, I can\'t wait till June 18th....:)
