  based on the assumption that "thirudAthE pAppA thirudAthE" from
  thirudAthE with SMS and "thoongAthE thambi thoongAthE" from nAdOdi
  mannan. But I came to know that "ethanai kAlamthAn" was started
  by "thanjavur Ramaiyadas" and finished by some ??? vAthiyAr ???
  Is that true ??
  
  (if you replace "nAtilE" with "veetilE" - it is very appropriate
  for the other philosaphical thread "ithu Ottai veedu onbathu vAsal"!!!)
  
  Is the following song from "sabAsh thambi":

  One MD name getting replaced by other MD seems common in those days.
  BUT MUna KAna name as dialogue writer replaced by ASA Samy is new.
  Has similar thing happened to singers ???
  Or anything like, some MD not happy with a singer and replaced
  and re-recorded the song with some other singer ???
  (Is it true that Sivaji first tried "antha nAL njAbagam nenjilE"
  and later found that TMS did a better job and agreed to that!!!)
  
  One more thing:

  the volume of your audio player, we can also hear the song
  "Punnagai Yhavazhum Mathimugamo" - nAn kEtta mAthiri illai.

  BONES
  If you have not heard the song Punnagai Thavazhum Mathimugamo, then you are not a fan of SM Subbiah Naidu. I request you to see the film Maragatham. The song is sure to lift your soul.
  
  2.Ethanai Kaalamthan Ematruvar is still under controversy. Some say that it was written by TR Dass. But I am convinced that the this song plus the Tamizhan Enroru Inam Undu in Malaikkallan is by Namakkal Kavignar. Please look at the record if available. This is how several songs of Kannadasan came to be claimed by other song-writers too. Kannadasan used to scribble on any paper availabel. Aasaiye Alaipoley in Thai Piranthaal Vazhi Pirakkum was written on a cigarette packet while travelling in car with Tiruchy Loganathan. The song Kadavul Oru Naal Ulagai Kaana Thaniye Vantharaam in Shanthy Nilayam was written in a hotel while waiting for omlet to be served. If carefully preserved the songs would have appeared in the compilations.
  
  3.The song "Sabash Thamby" is from the film Sabash Thamby.
  
  4. To the best of my knowledge, the MDs used to think very hard before selecting a singer. Once selected they make sure the singer deliver the goods. P.Leela was selected to sing the song Ketpathellam Kathal Geethangaley" from Illara Jothy. She had to sing about ten times before GRamanathan gave OK. In betweed she was very badky scolded for not singing well.She cried in a corner and came back to sing.Finally she made it. (If you do not know this song then you have not known GRamanathan)P.Leela recommended S.Janaki for the song Singara Velaney Deva in Konjum Salangai. MSV thought that K.Jamunarani cannot sing the song Kamugar Nenjil Neethiyillai in Mahadevi.But Kannadasan threw a challenge upon MSV on the ability of K.Jamunarani. And the song came out very well. G.Ramanathan used Seergazhi Govindarajan and recorded the songs "Kongu Naatu Chengarumbey Thangachilayey" and "Vaana Meethil Neenthiyodum Vennilavey". But these same songs are also availbe in the voice of Tiruchy Lganathan. Seergazhiar told me that that was a personal effort of Tiruchy Loganathan. The song Mullai Poo Manakkuthu by ALRagavan in Naan Vanangum Deivam was originally for Sivaji but the voice was not matching and so the best song in the film had to go for TR Ramachandran.
  
  5.The initial poster for the film Thaiku Pin Tharam carried the name of Kannadasan as the dialogue writer. But the dialogue was completed by S. A. Aiyapillai as Kannadasan was kuruttu busy in politics.
  
  6. In an interview MSV mentioned the background to the song "Antha Naal Gnabagam Nenjiley Vanthathey". He saw the film My Fair Lady and got the idea from there to have a song with dialogues in between. When Tirlokchander directed the 125th film of Sivaji-Uyarntha Manithan, MSV expressed his desire for such a song and the director agreed. Then they brought TMS and told him to run around inside the studio so that he could bring out the Ul Moochu and Veli Moochu naturally in the couse of the song. The film was shot in a mountanous area. It was so successful that the replica could be seen in the song "Devaney Ennai Paarungal" in Gnana Oli. But Sivaji's involvement is news to me.
  
  These are to be taken as the tip of the ice-berg in so far as cine news is concerned, or in your words-OORUKAI. Alright, no more further questions for the next few days please. Veetil Paruppu Vega Vendum!

  Telugu ulagil idhu migavum prabalamaana padam - Gundamma Katha. Its part of the growing up for many people in Coastal Andhra. In fact, almost all Vijaya films pictures, owned by Nagi Reddy and Chakrapani of Vijaya-Vauhini Studios and Chanda Mama/Ambuli Mama. Paattukkalil arttham muzhuvadhum puriyaa vittaalum paattukkalin tune migavum inimaiyaaga irukkum.
  
  In the Tamizh version, the dialog was written by TRD. TRD seems to be the preferred dialog writer and lyricist for Vijaya movies. He and Kannadasan had written the lyrics.
  
  The lyrics are so bad that they spoil the enjoyment of the song! I will give you one instance. In the song "Paadu Paadu", you get this stanza.
  
  "Vaara Vaara Nadandhu Vaara Chellamma
  Selvatthile Valandhu Vaara
  Thara Thara Kullath Thara Kannamma
  something something Joraa"
  
  I cant beleive that Kavignar wrote this. Judging from many other efforts, TRD must hv written this.
  The same guy wrote "Vaarayo Vennilave"!

  Another interesting thing about Manidhan Maaravillai is that Seerkazhi was the playback singer for Gemini! Probably the only instance.
  
  
  Who did the music for Sampoorna Ramayanam ? It has this wonderful songs
  "Veenaik Kodi Udaiya Vendhane" and
  "Dasaratha Raja Kumara"

  Sometimes I wonder what makes a lyricist turn in a bad lyric. TRD can write "Vaarayo Vennilave", "Kadhal Yaatthiraikku" etc. and also can write "Jollylo Gymkhana" and "Podu Podu". Vairamutthu can write "Idhu Oru Pon Malaip Pozhudhu" and "Kannukku Mai Azhagu". Vali writes "Masaru Ponne Varuga" and "Akkada Thukkada" Even Kannadasan can write songs like "Elandap Payam". The list can go on. Why ? Why does a lyricist compromise on the lyric ?
