6 Songs : Mind Blowing!!
Source :HinduTimes
http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_465617,00110003.htm
Simply mind-blowing
November 20
Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi can’t stop raving about the songs of Mani Ratnam’s Yuva. “A.R. Rahman and Mani Sir and dynamite together,” says Vivek on the sets of Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria’s Masti, and adds, “The six songs Rahman has recorded for the film are mind-blowing.”
Ajay Devgan, his co-star in Yuva and Masti, uses the same words to describe them. Incidentally, when the film was launched earlier this year, Mani Ratnam had decided not to have a single song in it.
Vivek also feels that Abhishek Bachchan’s is the best role and best performance in the film. “That guy’s career will take off in a big way after Yuva,” predicts Vivek.

Maybe there r no more stories in this industry... earlier there were movies being copied from other languages.. now, we see not only that, but also the directors r beginning to give us audience the same story twice in the same movie.. just like virumandi.. and now A.E.
The only reason one can see why Madhy was put to do the role was b'coz of some hot scenes with Meera Jasmin.. otherwise, any other villains in tamil films suit the role..
Madhy goes out with fiery vengeance to kill the minister, and yet we see him continuing to be his ally, taking his bro's place..
and the worst is the ending.. mani's desperate attempt to end the movie after the time slot just made him to end the movie abruptly.
A let down,...again....Mani.

Thamizhan,
exactly..mani's style, for all the attraction is holds for me, made me slightly wonder about his versatality..sometimes i wondered if we was sticking to his style just in fear of losing his audience. this time he has stepped out of it..i remember years back me and ca pule of my friends had the opportunity to chat with him after a symposium..it was not long after iruvar and my friend asked him if he will try such a thing again..he said " am not that foolish" in a very joking/sarcastic tone..and i asked him if he thinks he will go more experimental with both style and content and he said " i can do films that might satisfy myself and a few others a whole lot. but i will lose more than half of my audience..i want to tell the story to as wide an audience as possible"..while i uderstood his need from these answers i was also wondering if he would ever be able to stretch the limits more within his apparently set parameters..with KM and now AE i think he is starting to do it..to go to that overused comparison, its like sachin tendulkar's batting now, i guess, as compared to the earlier pyrotechnics!..) well, i for one can make my judgements of a film and enjoy it irrespective of how much money it rakes..somehow AE gave me the simultaneous satisfaction of a movie i wld watch at Satyam complex in chennai and one in Angelika @ New york city..thats why i am having that satisfied grin on the face all morning..one that i get only after a good night of movie or s**!:) delicious.

Kanna. I guess we have to disagree. The cinematography was nothing short of mindblowing. I haven't seen AE yet. So I can't comment on it.
Regarding the reviews, it is laughable when someone mentions that the film is let down by the script or the ending is incomplete. Come on!! What more do you want. IMO the film has a tight script. It might slow down sometimes, but the way the three characters are interwoven and the way they are brought together to the bridge - can't find fault anywhere. The ending was ok.
****SPOILER****
They win the elections and go to the assembly. What they do is left to the imagination of the viewer. It was realistic. You don't have to kill the villain (in this case there are no stereotypes too) to give the film a good ending. Madhavan/Abishek's character is as bad as they come. Can't expect him to get any redemtion.
*****END SPOILER*****
Go to the film without any preconcieved notions and you will enjoy it.
No stereotypes. No masala. Just an entertainer.

I just saw the hindi YUVA ..less than 12 rs after i saw AE:) Well, the fist half i was wondering what went wrong..it seemed very loose compared to AE..and edited not as good..the performances were good..especially abishek. and rani. but then the tamil performaces seemed more realistic..and the first half of the tamil version is so mich more gritty than the hindi version. Also, maybe it was done in just the theatre i saw, but the scene when michael and Lallan/inba meet(in tamil version) was missing.
the second half however more than made up for the first half and should i say, 'caught up' with AE! the action scene was more mindblowing..amazing..worthy of a john woo.
If Lallan/Inba put a gun on my head and ask to chose I would choose AE over Yuva!:)

I saw the movie on friday. Pretty neat movie.
This movie is a class apart from the gilli arul pudhukottai saravanan etc etc league.
At the same time, I Would say that this is not the best of maniratnam. Must watch movie guys....

Folks, I saw this movie today at Satyam Theater and I was very impressed with the movie. Mani Ratnam's story telling is new and its fresh every frame.
The hardwork is shown in each frame of the movie.
Kudos to brillian photography, music & stunt.
Yuva is a Winner!
Let us patronize hardwork and new ideas in Indian Film Making and watch it in the Theaters.
Folks, who criticize this movie, seems to the ones who like typical masala hindi movie with NRI setiments and usual masala love crap.
Please watch in good theater to appreciate the movie

Yuva gets a dismal opening
http://in.news.yahoo.com/040522/149/2d8ol.html
Unfortunately, YUVA is high on hype, but low on substance. Or, let's just say, naam bade aur darshan chhote.

no way man,i think AE is such a beautiful movie,i mean, mabby ur the masala movie lover, but i like movies which takes a different path, the last scene of the movies shows so much meaning...a youngster,a only youngster is sitting in the polictics place/parlimen with others old hecks wearing white, from there a country will face changes...and it ended up like that, coz if he futhers the movie more,it will turn to Mudhalvan.....didnt u guys relise there is 3 news bits in the movie???
1.a village tune sung by a folk singer with super modern beats for Maddy
2.Hey goodbye nanbha version 2 ( sung by karthik)
3.Sandha Kozhi is a different version,if u hear the 'sandhai kozhi kozhi iva sandhai kozhi",Mudhsree cleaned up her diction to sound clear at the part of "koZzi",and also she sung more lovingly...
and please,AE movie is no 1!

The verdict is coming out slowly but surely....Though I am not pleased about the outcome and fate of AE & Yuva...I am glad that my review, comments and more importantly predictions have been spot on...and have not misled people. Following are some quotes from the following link:
http://in.news.yahoo.com/040522/149/2d8ol.html
Vikas Mohan, editor of Complete Cinema, says, “Yuva is a disaster! It is a good body without any soul. It is very poor content-wise.
"The whole plot is confused and barring Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgan the rest of the cast is okay. A personality like Mani Ratnam whom people expected a lot from has put forward such a disappointing film.
"He has put in elections in Yuva whereas people have just seen the reality of the elections right now. He has failed to interlink the characters, the plot is confused, the music is not properly picturised and he has wasted so many stars.
"I have my doubts that the film will pick up later. The film is worse than Dil Se!”
VOICES
Abha InamdarAbha Inamdar, college student
Yuva is tolerable. The first half is okay but the second half is bad. The concept was good but there are lots of loop holes in the film.
Like what happened to Abhishek Bachchan is not highlighted in the film. I had liked Roja and Dil Se much more. Ajay Devgan was the best.
Parul GaddaParul Gadda, housewife
The film was okay. The second half was better. I liked the film because it is about the youngsters of today. But I liked Roja more.
When the film was on we didn’t understand what was happening, got a little confused. It was only at the end that the story became clear. I liked Ajay Devgan the most.
Savio PerrieraSavio Perriera, college student
Yuva was okay, nothing great. The ending could have been much better. I liked the idea of the student youth going into politics but he could have treated the subject better.
The fighting shown in the film is very funny, absolutely unrealistic. Ajay Devgan and Rani Mukherjee were the best.

I'm a die hard Mani fan but i feel this movie is not up to the highest standards he set.
It's a great concept that its about the contemporary youth and radical differences in their attitudes, how it takes shape.
I think mani concentrated a little more than needed in showing who these guys are by revealing their private lives in detail. It would have been slicker if a progressive struggle to reach the top is shown. Somewhere you begin to wonder the consequences faced by Surya are predictable and there i expect a great director like Mani to show explicit trouble unboring.
After all its not a fans fault to expect such things from Mani.
KANNA!
You seem to derive timeless joy in spreading ill fated news about this movie.
Yes ratnam has faltered a little but that doesn't stop him from being a great director.
Its ok if you criticize the film objectively that is completely lacking in your posts.
Bad habit mate :(
