Please show TFM examples of both poets with regards to just their Kadhaikku Porundhiya Paadalgal(situational songs) for this thread.

In the movie Irukodugal(waaa!),
GG marries Sowkar janaki and get separated due to circumstances(as usual for Gemini).
Then he marries Jayanthi(after being informed that Sowkar had died). He works in the
collector office. Sowkar comes there as the new collector and both are shcoked to see
each other. Soon Jayanthi comes to know about the rumours going around in the office
about GG and Sowkar - thanks to "BIG MOUTH" Nagesh. Jayanthi without knowing anything
about Sowkar-GG connection, thinks that she is his second wife and they got married
secretly etc.... So she thinks of asking to her directly and when she gets invited
for Sowkar's veetu navarathiri function she sings this song with the clear cut
meaning. KD and KB is a great combination and i wud say IMHO that KB wud have extracted
the best out of KD esply in this song.

In two or more of these symposium threads, the
songs of Bama Vijayam were mentioned in
support of Kannadhasan's abilities. Ramki and
others pointed out that the songs were by Vaali.
Two days back the movie was shon on SUN TV.
The titles indicated that all songs were by
Kannadhasan. I hope this puts an end to any
confusion. So, varavu ettaNaa song, for
instance, was indeed written by none other than
Kannadhasan!

He describes in this song the many qualities of the one who captured his heart, it turns out to be the woman herself,the song ends in a crescendo with her name repeated like a chant, avaloru Bhairavi , avaloru Bhairavi. A classic song in every aspect, Kannadhaasan must have had divine inspiration when he wrote this.

Whenever Vairamuthu gets a song situation with depth, he comes up aces. The movie "Kaadhal Oviyam" gave him plenty of opportunity to show his stuff.

Conclusion:
VM has shown his brilliance for situational songs whenever the situation was rich, as evident in all the BharathiRaaja movies and his last collaboration with IR, "Sindhu Bhairavi" (probably his best work for an entire soundtrack). But Kannadhaasan pretty much birthed the concept of situational songs with his tailor-made lyrics for movie situations. Kannadhaasan also had the benefit of exemplary directors who gave him one profound situation after another: Bhimsing, A.P.Nagarajan, and Sridhar among others. Kannadhaasan wins handily in this topic too. If there is any interest in this symposium at all out there, we can bother to do the final topic, "Kavidhai Milekarkal (Poetic Milestones that the poets will be remembered by!). If not this symposium will rest until some interested party (read:Sathiya Keerthi if and when he returns to newtfmpage) probes it awake. Nandri. Vanakkam.
