Kannadhaasan Vs. Vairamuththu TFM Symposium Topic 9: Kadhaikku Porundhiya Paadalgal (situational songs)

For a good understanding of how to approach this ongoing symposium, please refer to the thread, "Kannadhaasan Vs. Vairamuthu TFM Symposium Topic 1:Iyarkai Varnanai" before you post. Let me reiterate that this is not a patti mandram, but a research symposium.

  A newlywed husband yearns for his wife while being kidnapped and locked up by terrorists. The usually soothing aspects of nature hold no interest for the guy who laments the separation of his loved one in everything he senses and feels. The heartfelt sentiments and the hopelessness of the estranged lover are beautifully wrought by VM in this captivating song.

  Song: Nilavaip Paarththu Vaanam Sonnadhu; Film: Savaalae Samaali
  On their first night after an incompatible wedding arrangement, the wife tells the husband to not touch her. The devastated husband grieves the incident through this emotional song. I guess in psychological terms this song could be called a successful passive aggressive song. Kannadhaasan is in full form here.

  is a very nicely written line.
  Here VM has imagined the situation in such a way that the Heroine name is Roja. Roja arugil illai(Hero-ku Arugil), Mutham kodukka Roja illai, Roja illaadhadhaal verum muLaithaan muthamida mudium endru engi thavikiraar.

  Song: Kannil Enna Kaarkaalam; Film: Un Kannil Neer Vazhinthaal(?)
  The heroine grieves the loss of her brother and imploringly seeks solace in her lover. The lover comforts her through his warm words. The lines "Nee vaendum nizhal vaendum sugamaga azha vaendum" touch a universal nerve. All of us have felt the inability to console ourselves and longed for another's strength at some point in our lives; these lines capture that need splendidly. VM soothes with his lyrics so warmly woven for the delicate composition by IR. (SPB deserves to be bronzed for singing this song.)

  Situation : A film star who comes to reside near a middle class family's house decides to visit that family. All family members except the father, oru boliyaana aadambarathil mayangi, thaam thoom ena silavu seikiraarkal(so that the house and they look good when the film star visits) And there comes the song. Father on one side, the rest of the family on other side

  "ullathil nalla ullam " suits the kathai, kathaapaathiram(here kathapaathiramey kathayaki vittathaal)
