IMHO "Paarthale Paravasam" deserves much more praise than it got, and it, according to me, is one of the unsung masterpieces of A.R.Rahman which is not appreciated by many, for reasons I cannot comprehend. And everytime, one of the DF-ers start a fight, they quote PP as example for Rahman's recent failure. I personally think it is way ahead of what we have come to expect from TFM. Probably, that is one the reason why people dont want to face upto it. So, please throw in your opinions whether it is indeed a masterpiece or just plain crappy as some say so.

I am writing this immidiately after reading your posting.
I have not read the rest of the postings yet.
Ya, I listened it more than 250 time in two three weeks and still keep listening. I did not say the I did not like the album. It is not like many of ARR's where all song are your favourite. I hated the nadhirdinna. So that's why I said "I din't like all the songs through"... got it.
Franky speaking..."Nadhir dhinna " is a good song. But, I already blamed ARR of his attempt for tamil genocide in this song, in some other thread long before. I still maintain my opinion.
ARR is not a God for me. I am not like those who forgive what ever mistakes their idol do and still keep worshipping them. Ya..I give ARR the benefit of doubt, but this song was too much for experimentation.
I have the guts to call a spade a spade..(provided it is a genuine spade in every sense..)
Let me make it very clear here. PP is really a good album and wrongly released or a misshit...what ever you may call. But, if you take 5 songs per film trend, then it has 6 very good song to fullfil that trend. I deserves a better place in many's heart.
If you have not heard PP, I suggest, you hear the song a couple of times...(no bias..please...need not even bother to write here about it)..a couple of times please..
You can then decide..
As for Kasi, I did not like it and I just said that in only one thread, not like many who go and post such opinions thread after thread. I also said that avatharam as compared to kaasi stays on top..IMO.
Azhagi....I like it and I have downloaded it to listen. TIMHO and TTMK.

>>>PP had seven songs (?) out of which he didn't like one or two songs. Isn't five/six songs enough to make it a good album?
PP has nine songs of which One song is repeated with slight change in the lyrics. So I like 6 out of 9. Even in that to be very frank,
Manmadha maasam,
desiaya geetham,
Anbe(+azhage) and Adhisaya Thirumanam(great one) are close to my heart.

PAATHAALAE PARAVASAM - Sethuppona Pambai yenappaa intha adi adikkeeranga. I may be an experiment or unsung masterpiece. But the fact is, ARR is losing his magic touch. To get the same quality of music of ARR, now 100s of young music directors are in queue. D Imam, Bharani, Yuvan, Harris - list is big. I wish BABA will recover the damaged image of ARR. Tenali, Paarthalae Paravasam , Alli Arjuna - made his life as well as our ears very miscerable. Insah Allah, BABA will give him a break.

Juan Pablo Montoya,
LOL! Well done. I normally dont do these things unless they cross my path. But now u've raked it up, a better method is to search on yahoo.com and then click on "More Results From: www.newtfmpage.com"
This will give u all the various identities.

ARR,
What happens to you? From a hard-core fan of you, I am getting continuous disappointments from you for last two years....Now it is time for you to spend some time and get you fame back here in TN. I was totally upset with the music in PP. Really it sucks the time. People like Bharatwaj, Yuvan , Bharani are giving good hits. You are out of picture here. Come on ARR and prove yourself. Otherwise, you will be forgetten by the time."

Wouldn't call the album (as a whole) a masterpiece, but surely couple of songs are standouts. Esp. "manmada maasam" is breathtaking. I thought that this song best showcases ARRs unique style, his creativity, his feel for fusion. I can only think of one parallel to the crime that KB committed by his atrocious handling of this (and indeed all the numbers) song - Keyaar's handling of the magical 'unnai ethirpaarthen' in 'vanaja girija', which is IMO the best SPB-IR collaboration in the last decade.
'Nee thaan' is another favourite number, somehow 'athisaya thirumanam' failed to hold my interest

Well said, Common Friend.
btw, I liked Nadhir Dinna despite the 'tamil genocide' as I think tat it was intentional...at least tat's wat i gathered from the lyrics. When I first heard the album, it was my most fav. Now, my fave is manmatha maasam, which remains fresh as ever no matter how many times u listen. And Athisaya Thirumanam is a close second. However, like most here, I too felt the beauty of the songs was destroyed in the picturisation, esp for both these songs. Tho Raghavendra Lawrence is a good dancer & choreographer, I expected something far better for manmatha maasam. A focused close-up of a female bharathanatyam dancer animating the lyrics wit intricate facial expressions & hand gestures wud have been so great. Athisaya Thirumanam, tho made a good bgm for the scenes, was wasted in terms of picturisation. I didnt find the movie tat bad, but more justice cud have been done for the songs.
I cudnt click wit Ada Moonrezhuthu & desiya geetham for some reason.
Sathish, I agree wit u it deserved alot more than the caustic criticism it often receives.
