  if this is a remake of mani chitra tazha then it will be a flop if rajini acts in it....the movie was amazing in malayalam....shobana was great ...mohanlal was good...but if rajini plays the role of mohan lal it will be a flop for sure.....

I never accept movies easily unless I like the story. This really impressed me and so I accepted it immediately. You will see a different Rajni in this movie.’’
  
  He also denied that he had given up ‘Jakkubhai,’ for which the muhurat was done a month ago. He explained that since he was not satisfied with its screenplay, he decided to leave it on the back burner for now but that he would go back to it after ‘Chandramukhi’ was completed.
  
  He also joined the rest of the Tamil film world in commending Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for her recent gestures favouring the industry.

  The movie is a remake of Malayalam super-hit horror thriller "Manichithrathazhu". Mohanlal (Iruvar fame) excelled in the role of a semi-crack psychatrist and Shobhana who played the possessed in the movie won a National Award for her performance in 1992. It was directed by Fazil.
  
  Rajini plays the role of Mohanlal. I can't believe he chose this movie bcoz no one in the world other than Mohanlal can do full justice to the role. You people must be thinking that I am exaggerating, but it is the truth fellows. You will understand that once you watch Chandramukhi and Manichithrathazhu.

  I guess Rajinikanth - contrary to popular perception - that he is going to use this story of possessed female - to take 'subtle' pot-shots at JJ - i think he's probably thinking of using this movie to "send" a message to JJ - that he "understands" her!
  
  Think of this - A "mentally disturbed" woman, having a "disturbed" past and childhood, being "possessed" by "evil spirits" (or that which seems so)..
  
  The "Shrink" (madras bashaila mental doctor!!!) - rajinibhai - "treats" her - and releives her of all her "possessed" spirits or "cures" her of her "hallucinations" and "delinquencies"...
  
  WOWW!!!!
  
  There does seem to be a huge political smell in this stuff!!!!
  
  Where is our Rajinibhai going?!!!!

  Manichitrathazha is a classic movie, I enjoyed the story only last month - superb effort from Fazil, Mohanlal Nayantara - ippadi oru team irundha kekava venum? only superstar can do justice to its re-make. Long live Superstar!! Great to see Rajini getting a character role.
  Vintage effort from Ouseppachan. Pazham tamil paattil is brilliant!
