  btw i listened to the baba songs thrice yesterday (contrary to my general approach of listening to the songs in the theatre first). I did not like other songs except Shakthi Kodu. RAjjiyama is OK. I was not happy with aekamaeva dwitheeyam, the vidugadhayaa indha vaazhkkai of muthu has much more impact than this baba number. Others are not so good.
  
  This contrary approach I used for Rajni movies, I like padayappa songs after a few times of listening before i could see it in the theatre. But Baba is not upto the level of muthu or padayappa for sure.

  'Rajyamaa illai imayamaa' is a song worth waiting for ... Very well sung by Jayachandran (Eventho' the lyrics sound repetitive - Vaalee),
  
  Shankar Mahadevan number is also okay - But sure can't stand before Oruvan oruvan muthalaaLi or even 'athaaNdaa ithaaNdaa aruNaachalam naanthaaNdaa' (What is this 'tippu tippu' stuff ? Vairamuthu-vukku enna aachchu ? He used to give decent lyrics for rajini ...)
  
  Female singer in 'Baaba kichchu' is a VALID potti for Sadhana Sargam - MDs, Please dont' encourage this lady just because Looks like she knows less number of tamil words than Sadhana Sargam & Co. Using SPB for this 'casual' song and ChinnappiLLai Karthik for a 'powerful' song looks like a joke to me :-)
  
  Other songs didn't impress me much ... gotta listen more ...

  i listened to the songs in a hotel, without knowing that it is baba's music. first song was 'rajayam', and my first impression was that some song from a tv serial. the second one was 'sakthi kodu'. this time i thought someone has copied arr's tunes. (may be imaan's new movie!). then the owner told me the movie is baba.

  I think this kind of a comment is very anti-singer"istic"..I heard this song too and dint find much of a diference..North pasanga melai prejudice vanam pa!!appadi parthu irundaa.. First time Hindi Movies lai S.P Balasubramaniyam Hindi yai Dharma Kolai pannaru..so Avarai kooda discourage panni irundaa..ippo north lai yarukkum terinji irukkadu avar peyar.Dont discourage anyone.. it is a cynical attitude

  If you can prove that ... I will quit whatever I learnt and wrote in tamil and stop even talking in tamil !
  
  We shouldn't encourage ANYBODY killing your language / culture / history ... I feel we should be strict in this ... If she is a good singer, Let her sing in her mother toungue, or learn tamil and then try singing in tamil ... our language shouldn't become a saththiram where anybody can come and spoil it ..
  
  Thats the reason I respect SPB, Not Udit NarayaN kinds ...

  first time i din like a single song.....afterall even padayappa was like that .... but here i couldnt find a whole song appealing as yet.....i know most ARR albums of recent times are like dat....with the exception of KM of course!

  imo, if a song is good then there should be no second openion about it.. i.e everyone must accept that it's good song. If not, it's not a good song. period. Generally Rajini's songs used to be good, if not all the songs, at least his solo songs.
  
  ARR spent almost a year and a half for bombay dreams but did he do anything new? No. I won't agree if somebody says that ARR didn't have time for baba bcos he was busy with bombay dreams. I am sure he must have charged at least 1 crore or even more for baba and songs are pathetic. That's why rajini came up with coupon system to force people to buy the cassettes before even they get a chance to listen to them?? Namma producers-galai odhaikkanum. Kodi kodi ya koduthu thookki thalai mela vecha ivan ippadi than music poduvan. Not just IR or Deva.. even sirpy would have done a better job. Rajini without SPB? rediculous. ARR fans are now acting like IR fans... ie, pretending that whatever he does is good..

  Listened to baba last night again...... the two numbers i felt like listening again and again was sakthi kodu and kichu kichu... some one in this forum gave me the laugh of the day when he compared 'dippu dippu' with 'vaadi saathukodi'...
  To be fair, its not a disappointment for a ARR-RK combination.. This is what we got for muthu as well as padayappa... A couple of good songs and then two decent numbers and a theme song... Sakthi kodu tune sounds more like a jingle but its good and regd Sadhna , ARR loves her voice a lot (he told this in the newyork concert that she has the sweetest voice in india)... but again to listen to that sweet voice we gotta compromise the pronounciation... I see a lot of guys starting to appreciate the songs...

  ok...here are my views...
  
  1)the first song is ditto of singam ondru...so NO COMMENTS :)
  
  2) Dipu Dipu .... liked it a lot the second time....but not the whole song,a majority of it
  
  3) Kichu Kicu .... SUX ... no where near Suthi Suthi!
  
  4) Raajiyamaa .... good song.... but dunno if twud appeal to RK fans.....romba slow song like Vidukathaiyaa
  
  5) Maaya Maaya ... good as well ... again not the whole song
  
  6) Sakthi Kodu .... decent .... am saying this coz the starting of the song is somewat similar to Kaalaiyum Neeyae (some gemini film??)
  
  innum lemme listen to it a bit more.....will definitely by the cassette....afterall if u know i bought ARUNACHALAM! :)) ... such a hardcore i am!
