If you are curious to listen to the
original version (even if it's a short clip)
of Deva's 'Thilothama' song from Aasai,
try the link below...

Just an observation:
"Oru naal oru pozuthu" from anthimandhrai , "uyirum neeye" from pavithra and "paal vadiyum mugam ninaindhu ninaindhu manam paravasa migavaaguthE " strongly resemble each other very much in atleast the opening lines. May be ARR is very much obssessed with the last song.

Dev,
Thanks for pointing out yet another copy of Deva. Until now I tought 'Thilothama' was an original, with some middle-eastern flavour. Looks like Deva doesn't like 'artificially flavoured' stuff. He believes in delivering 100% pure, real music! So, what if he is just a 'distributor'?
;)
BTW, Maname Thigaikathe? I don't get it. Doesn't sound familiar at all. Is it the Maname Thigaikaathe Vizhiye nanayadhe, Vaazhkaipaathaiyil Medu Pallangal" song you are referring to?
Bharati,
I don't agree with you about the following songs:
1. chandiranai thottathu - pari hoon main (pari)
3. dil se re (dil se) - mera piya ghar (album by fateh ali khan)
4. margazhi poove (may maatham) - suprabaatham
You can't term them as copy at all. Margazhippoove uses the obvious tune of the first phrases of Suprabhatam in the flute piece. I think it is just to give the feel of 'morning'. Dil Se Re and Piya Ghar Aana? Amazing comparison!!!
I agree with the fact that some of his songs in Kaadhalar Dhinam have a lot of lines resembling MSV hits, like th ones you have pointed out, I have another addition:
Roja Roja fisrt few lines are exactly the same as Ennai Vittaal Yaarumillai, Kanmaniye Un Kay ANaikka.
It is also quite similar to the 'Sandhangal Neeyaanal, Sangeetam Naanaven' line from the 'Sippiyirukkudu' song from 'Varumayin Niram Sigappu'. The rhythm is different though.

Are you guys joking?? Putting a 30 seconds clip and calling Deva a copy cat??? Please go to the forests of Ooty, record a song of the Todas and put it here and call Ilayaraaja's Raman Aandaalum Ravanan Aandalum song as copy. Play his, Darling...Darling..song and call that as copy. Even Rahman copied Markali Poove from Suprabatham....Call that as copy....
You guys are too quick to accuse our Thenisai Thendral Deva alone when he does something like that. In Suriyan, he gave a good song 18 vayasu ilamottu manasu....Why are you guys calling that as a copy??? If ARR's copy can be justified, as to signify a mystified morning......why can't Deva??
One cannot expect more from Deva chauvinists. Today, the world spins not according to the chauvinists, but according to the majority. And the cassette sales prove that Deva is the leading MD of TFM.

I aplogize sir. It should have been, 'ARR & IR Chauvinists' and not 'Deva Chauvinists'. Or it could have been, 'Deva Baiters' instead.

Anand: What/who is Enya?
- From: Anand (@ 202.54.69.151)
on: Sat Oct 23 02:13:04 EDT 1999
SRK,
Enya is an irish singer. she's a western classical singer who sings in Gaelic and english. Her songs from the album, "Shepherd Moons" has been the "source" for the song "Vandhaal vandhaal.." and song #7 of that album has been used as the background score by Deva in a Vijay-Sivaj Ganesan-Simran movie (forgot the name of that movie)

i'm referring to the humming interlude and the general background of the music
- From: Raja (@ jrc-cache8.jaring.my)
on: Tue Oct 26 07:13:15 EDT 1999
THe arrangement for Vanthal vanthal is common western classical mix. You can find a lot of songs
with this mix. So I don't see how it can be a copy. Unless the main long tune from the song is lifted from the Irish song, it cannot be a copy. Probably its just a coincidence.
To highlight this point :- Rock & roll songs. They all might sound similar, but different in main tune.
Furthermore Why would IR copy 1 lone tune when he has hundreds of hits.
- From: raja (@ jrc-cache8.jaring.my)
on: Tue Oct 26 07:21:58 EDT 1999
Talking about copy, Our great Deva actually overlapped the chorus from MJ's 'WILL You Be THere' into one Kalloori Vaasal song. One listen is all it takes and u will find that DEva actually CUT OUT the portion & paste it into his song.He did not even try to recreate it.HOW DISGUSTING!!!

Anand,
Did you check the years of release of both these albums?
I agree with Raja about the common WC mix. In fact many gospel kind of music also has such shades, with violin and piano and vocal blending well.
IMO, it is not a copy at all.
Neels
