I got your point long before....
well there is something called "the truth is out there"... the "out there" is here :-)
this place is an accumulation of all allegations and i/p's regarding copying or inspired songs...the validity of the allegation is for other DF'ers to discuss and analyze..
cant excempt any MD from this DF ...

Has anyone mentioned this before ?
Was listening to a friend's MP3 collection - it had a song "Mummer's Dance", I think by Loreena McKennit. The guitar fill-in from the "Paarthaale Paruvasame title song...seems to be inspired from the guitar bit in the Mummers Dance. Both the songs are poles apart otherwise. Could someone clarify ?

i had more copied versions of harris jeyaraj from rehmans previous tunes, which i'll be giving later.hope we have heard all this before and we don't need a harris jeyaraj to remake them again. there are others to do it. i hope we are not deaf anyway. it is sad to hear there is someone to say this fellow is starting to rule tamil film music.
this is not in support for any other music directors or because of any envy on harris jeyaraj. this is true he has re-written the lyrics for the previous rehman tunes. if he would have been under anyone else,he might have surely reflected them as well.i want anyone to take this as a positive comment, and encourage him in giving really new good numbers.
we are always ready to welcome new sincere guys, like yuvan and karthickraja who are working hard to give better music.let jeyaraj learn from them first than to blindly compare himself unnecessarily with Rehman as papers say nowadays

ir has himself accepted that he was inspired by msv, sdb and many other western musicians. he is not alone.
every artist will be inspired by some good work and he will try to improvise it. that is the part of creativity.
but, if an artist turns EVERY TIME to some other's creation for his own, then that is a serious problem.
msv and ir are fortunately not like that.

There was a prabhu movie recently and a tune he was singing seems to be directly lifted from Man Ke Manjeere of Shubha Mudgal. Should be one of those deva movies I think...

I dont see any similarity between the PP title guitar fill and Loreena's Mummer's Dance. You can download Mummer's Dance from here...
http://www.sevgilim.com/mp3/themummer.mp3
The instruments used in both for the fill are exactly same and thats why the doubt. Tune wise they have nothing in common, more so, Mummer's Dance's guitar fill is way too short.

That film is Super Kudumbam. It has also an other copied song. The "Selai nazhuviyadeno" song is a note by note copy of Phalguni patak's "meri chunari ud ud jaye"

not exactly a TFM song but nevertheless quite popular..the song "tu mile dil khile" from criminal tuned by Maragathmani..the prelude is a straight lift.. (from some Enigma song?) I saw the tune being played in the BGM of a movie called "Sliver" ..does anyone know the song name here? its probably before 1993..

also the prelude for the first few seconds in the song "Vaa sakhi " from Aarasiyal is a straight lift from "Return to innocence" by Enigma..there are different versions for this song, but in the extended version, right in the middle of the song, you can hear this piece..however the length is so short(6-8 secs) I wonder why VS wanted to flick it at all..

Intelligent you are...is n't it? The Kanna Moochci song is primarily based on naatta kurunji raagam. When, KKKK song was released this song was highly praised by many for the blend of this raaga and there was an article in some magazine about it. If you are talking about the raagam similarity then you have totally misfired it.

I feel that ARR takes Tamil folk tunes for certain Hindi songs for a bit of novelty....remember in Rangeela , the "Yaaron Sun Lo Zara" number...it is actually a map of "Yen Soga Kadhaiya Kelu Thaikulame"...maybe Padakotu Pattamma is based on a standard folk tune...could someone clarify ?

What you say is true?
Infact, I mentioned about Rajashthani folk song some time before. Also, now I made a huge posting explaining this. It did not upload for some reason. I don't have time and patience.
But, beleive me, IR also should have used similar such folk tune for that Chinnavar song.
All IMHO.

come on now that the chinnavar song was clearly lifted by ARR.
Master Venu, is an old Telugu MD. I don't think you can find his works on the net. Try www.sailu.com, in the old songs section

Common Friend..agAya veedhiyil pattu kEtkathavangellAm villupuram pakkam thalai kAtta koodathu :) (I am from that town).
Anyways, I think there might be some standard folk tunes like what cosmician says. I dont think ARR ever does anything like IR (atleast consciously :)). I know he lifts sandhams from old songs and rhythm arrangements from western pop songs but a tune from IR..hmmm..not so sure.

seriously that "chinnavar song" is not a good song at all...for ARR to lift and put it in nayak (the saiyyan song also is average)... if it was "andhiyile vaanam" then i grant there is a probability...but this "padakotta... " ..nah!
i wud be surprised if ARR or most of the tfm world knew abt this chinnavar song....
it will be interesting to know what theory ARR adapted in composing "sayyan" and what IR adopted in composing "padokattam..."
maybe we cud find some commonality in both approaches that led to both songs sounding the same (in the initial phases).. i guess thats the correct way for a true inquisitive researcher..
the other can simply think i am an ARR fan and so am siding for him... its more convenient for u to be smug and satisfied with such a trivial explanation... bcoz otherwise it might be too hard for the brain...i wudnt care less.

"the "Yaaron Sun Lo Zara" number...it is actually a map of "Yen Soga Kadhaiya Kelu Thaikulame". "
That's interesting.I will listen to both the songs and see if I can find the similarity. It's been quite a while since I listened to the latter song.
Do you mean the "pallavi" ?
